  1. Just to add my condolences also. Very sorry to hear this and hope that the recovery goes well. This happens way too often and it's especially bad when it's one of our own. Let us know if there is anything we can do for you.
  2. That is a new one for me. I've never heard of any problems with the cooling system.
  3. Glad it worked out for you. Everybody should own a Carbtune. But...LUV is such a STRONG word.......how about you just like us a LOT.
  4. I'm going to look at another '83 tomorrow. It is a blond. If I buy it, I will be parting it out. It is a runner without second gear. Royale.
  5. They both look good. Haven't decided which one I like best yet. I like the background of the square one but sort of like the round shape.
  6. In my previous years, I spent about 20 years working as an electrician. I've used and owned a number of meters over the years. A very good analog meter was the old Simpson...260 I think was the model. Used one of those for many years when working for a power company. I now own a Fluke and another one that came from Sears. Both are digital and neither were really cheap. The Fluke was the most expensive but I've owned it now for over 15 years and it's a great meter. You will pay a premium price though. Probably more than is needed for occasional use. You can pick up a good digital meter from Radio Shack, Sears, etc. for well under $100.00. Actually probably in the $50.00 range.
  7. Well, based upon the responses received, I think we'll just stick with what we have. Thanks for the input.
  8. Amazing...the Al Gore crowd pushes this stuff before the research is really done. How many states are REQUIRING are promoting this mess? http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,297681,00.html I just found it to be interesting. PLEASE don't turn it into a political debate.
  9. I'm afraid that I can't be much help. I bought a Harbor Freight changer about 3 years ago and have yet to use it. I WILL one of these days but every time I've been ready for a tire, I've been in to big of a hurry to mess with it. From what I've read, the main thing is to be very careful putting the tire on. It is easy to scratch or ding the rim if you aren't very careful.
  10. I've got several and am not good with any of them. I use Corel Draw, Micrographix, and several others.
  11. OK....quickly thrown together.
  12. I don't think you will. Yamaha is pretty aggressive about them not being published. There used to be a couple of places but they have been taken down at Yamaha's insistence.
  13. Is that a 2 stroke engine? If so, it is perfectly normal for it to smoke a bit. If it's a 4 stroke, then it's not normal but probably not unusual for one that has been sitting for so long. It could possibly be a stuck ring.
  14. They had just come out with their new engine shortly before going under the last time. It actually looked very nice, don't know how it performed though. From looking at the FAQ page, it appears that the new one will have some version of that same "Power Plus" engine. They had started with S&S engines but did eventually build their own. I honestly can't see paying a thousand dollar deposit on a bike that you can't see and that the price has not been announced. The FAQ only says that the retail price has not been determined but it is a premium bike and that will be reflected in the price. In other words...MUCH MONEY. That being said, I wish them the best. I wouldn't mind owning one if money were no object.
  15. HEY...no smart remarks unless you have a design to submit.
  16. Am I the only one playing? Another option.
  17. Here is my initial attempt.
  18. It could be a Harley and STILL have 4 wheels.
  19. More colorful?
  20. Good points my friend. It is my belief though, and I may be wrong, that it could actually BOOST participation here. You see, the newsletter would just have a "preview" of the articles and/or forum threads. If the subscriber wishes to know more, they will have to visit the forum. It would hopefully be enough to pique the interest of those who haven't visited recently or don't visit on a daily basis. What got me started thinking about this was that after our Fort Collins Rally and also after some of the others, I received PMs from a few members saying that they wished they had visited the forum more often because they would have liked to have attended but missed the posts about those rallies. This would really be a way of better keeping in touch with those who don't get on here as often as they would like. These are just my thoughts and I am certainly not always right.
  21. Just to answer some of the questions. I think the newsletter will be in .html format so links will be active. Because you will be receiving it via email, you will be able to forward it to whomever you wish and will be able to print it to hand out as you please. You will be free to print, copy, reproduce it as you see fit. More to come later.
  22. I've owned many bikes and other vehicles in my life. As for bikes, they have included Honda, Harley, Yamaha, Kawasaki and many models of each. Until buying my '99 Royal Star Venture, I have never owned any vehicle for more than 3 years and never owned a motorcycle for more than a year or so. I've owned the RSV since May of 1999 and still love it.
  23. Is there any interest here in a newsletter? This would be a newsletter that you would have the option of subscribing to. It would be emailed to the members who subscribe on a monthly, bi-monthly, whatever basis. The big advantage of this will be for those who do not visit and read every post on the forum on a daily basis. It would pull out the highlights or important threads from the forum and also any other relevant info that the author wants to write. It could include information and reminders of upcoming rallies, eat and meets, etc. The possibilities are endless. It would also be available online for anybody who prefers that it NOT be emailed to them. I already have the necessary module installed here for the newsletter feature, it is just something that I have never gotten around to doing. Now here is the next BIG question. Do we have a volunteer who is a good writer who would like to write the newsletter?
  24. Well...I think it's a really cool old scoot and trailer. Would love to own it.
  25. WOW...you mean you STILL have that Photoshopped Pic.
