That is going to be very cool...very unique. Can't wait to see it when you are finished.

Here is a pic of the Shadow that I had with the Memphis Fats.

I can't answer for anybody here riding a Road Star but I had one back when I owned a Honda Shadow Ace. Mine was actually a Memphis Fats and it was an excellent shield.

My only advise would be to find a nice '86-'93 model. That way you will prevent having to deal with any second gear issues or frame issues that sometime show up on the '83 models. Otherwise, VERY good choice.

The Midnight has always been higher due to extra chrome. In all previous years, the Midnight had a chromed front end, forks and etc. where the others did not. Not sure about the Black Cherry, did it have a chrome front? I didn't think so.

Really sorry to hear about your wreck. Sounds like you are very lucky though to not be injured any worse than you are. Don't be too hard on yourself. I drive every single day in my job and I think I am very careful and a good driver but I have had a couple of close calls also that I attribute to my own faults. As for those tires. Are you saying that you have a new set that you hadn't mounted yet? If so, I may be interested. Shoot me a PM.

If you want to email it to me, I'll put it in html format and add it to the tech library. You can send it to dnelson@axcesswave.com

I'm absolutely serious about it. If you have done all that you can through your dealer and Yamaha then it's either that, live with it, or sell the bike. I strongly believe that manufacturers should stand behind their products and be accountable. Some states include motorcycles and some don't. In the ones that do, there are usually Lemon Law Attorneys who will represent you for no money up front. They WILL take their cut out of any settlement though.

Whats The Best Oil?

I use the motorcycle specific MX4T...I think they call it MX4 Racing oil now or something like that. I think it's 15/40.- 25 replies

I think it's a crock. Some are MUCH louder than others and I don't think that Yamaha has stopped replacing them. If mine was that loud and they took that stance, I would sue them under the lemon law....no doubt about it.

Whats The Best Oil?

I agree about the tests that show Amsoil is best. I DO think it is good oil but do not think it is any better than Mobil One and the truly independent tests that I've seen confirm my opinion. I'll stick with my Mobil One thank you.- 25 replies

I've seen a few in dealerships here in Ohio. If anybody is interested in coming here to buy one, I will be happy to check who has them.

I have the tall shield and have ridden in some heavy rain. It can be a problem. It is worse when my glasses get fogged up along with the wet shield. I can sit higher in the seat and see over it if I have to though. As for the vents that people are talking about, I actually have the Goldwing vent in mine but later installed two of the round vents. I actually like the round ones better. I think the next time I need a shield I will order it with no vent and just go with the round ones.

You left out the Michelins. Several of us here are running the Michelin Commanders. I would put them right at the top of the list. Depending on who you talk to, probably number one or number two on the list.- 25 replies

I agree. I also see that they are NOT all using the same images. This Virtual Earth is the first one I've seen that shows my house. Google Earth still shows a vacant field. On the other hand, Google Earth does show my previous house in Dallas but Virtual Earth doesn't. The image that Google shows for the Dallas house is not nearly as good as this one though. OK...I stand corrected. I just looked again. They both show pretty much the same image of the house in Dallas but Google still doesn't show the house in Ohio.

Yea...the good thing is that most of that stuff goes straight to the bottom of the pond. Keeps it looking nice.

It is GREAT. Anybody who owns an RSV or RSTD should own one.
