I don't know how well it works because I've never tried one but there is a product called the "Zapper" that is supposed to help. I've seen them several places including a local "Do it Best" hardware store up the road from me.
-
It works great. I did that repair on mine about 3 or 4 years ago. I have removed that chrome strip several times since then and have never had another problem with it.

Folks, you really should consider the proportioning valve modification that Rick Butler has come up with. It's very good and very affordable. You do not have to be a mechanical genius to install it. I think the total time to install is probably about 30 minutes.

Here you go. Go to this link and the scroll down....second or third product from the bottom I think. http://www.badgemaker2.com/web_store/web_store.cgi?page=mc_plates.html&category=yes&cart_id=

It doesn't matter how long it takes...it's the ADVENTURE that is important. I'll leave the light on for you.

Thanks...I wasn't sure. On the RSV it's the right front but something was telling me that it wasn't the same for the Royale. DUH...come to think of it...the RSV doesn't COME with a tach. Mine is hooked to the right front because that is where I connected it.
-
I really like those things. Heck, I could put a Swisher mower behind it and be good to go. You gonna drive it up here.
-
Now it REALLY sounds electrical. The tach gets its feed from the right front coil I think. Sounds like either a TCI or coil problem.

Here you go...unfortunately, they don't make a street legal version. http://www.ecorider.us/ and there is this one.... http://www.hdtusa.com/models.htm I Understand though that they have only managed to produce about 25 bikes and production is delayed. Not automatic either but it is a diesel.

I agree...would be interesting to see how it really works. I'm not a big fan of automatic trannies for motorcycles, shifting is half the fun for me. I'm sure that in the manual mode, you are just shifting but no clutch. Might be kind of cool. Not sure I would ever want one though.

He needs to join the forum and then submit an application to be a Venture owner. Only the upper elite of mankind are truly worthy of owning one of these fine machines.

So was I. That's how I cruised around looking for se.....well...you know.

Take a look at this link for a new automatic transmission Honda that was supposed to be on the market in October, don't know if it was released or not. Pretty cool idea as automatics go. It gives you too automatic modes and a 6 speed manual shift mode. http://www.webbikeworld.com/Motorcycle-news/2008-honda-motorcycles/ Also, scroll down that page and take a look at the awesome looking 6 cylinder sport bike...concept.

Cloudy and rainy here. I HOPE to get mine cleaned up and go out for some pictures tomorrow. I don't want to be entered into the prize drawing but would like to enter some pics.

That looks almost exactly like the one that I used to replace my cassette deck. Worked out pretty well. If you haven't seen it, there is an article in the tech library on doing that swap.

WHAT????? 20 years ago, 30 years ago, 40 years ago...that's ALL I thought about. I STILL think about it from time to time.

Verizon has their navigator available on many of the handsets but it's a monthly subscription I think. I've heard it is pretty good but have no use for it so have never tried it.

Gear Whine-Final Result-25 percent better.

OK....here is something else that we can debate. ) I received the following via private message. I told him to post it up but he preferred that I throw MYSELF in front of the bus. So...without further comment at this time, I will just throw it out for your consumption. Has anybody considered putting in some of the plane old light wgt " break in " no additives, no detergent, etc. that we all used to use back in the old days when we were told to " break in our new engines " by the manufactures. And run this oil for a few hundred miles. Maybe the parts that are causing the noise would " wear in " better and the noise would go away. ???? I think the stuff is still sold, mostly as SAE-30 straight wgt oil for lawn mower engines. Maybe 10 or 20 wgt. would work better. I am wondering if the new super lubricants that we are using now, are such good lubricants that these V-4's are simply not getting broke in correctly ?? -

I would have been happy to ride it for you. Actually, if it's the chirping that we are talking about, I wouldn't even have to ride it. You can hear it with the bike at idle. I've had two '99 models and I've had no problem with either of them. I've never had a basket changed. Both had and have a bit of the whine but not a level that I consider unacceptable. I HAVE heard some that did though so know that they are not all the same. -
Well, based upon responses here, it appears that the stand alone MP3 players are not going away anytime soon. That is a good thing. As for me though, my next phone, probably the LG Venus when it comes out in a couple of weeks, will negate any future MP3 player purchases. My IPOD is about 4 years old. It's a 3G 16GB version. My son has a 60GB model. Though some have had problems with the hard drive Ipods on the bikes due to vibration, mine has done just fine. I think I have had to re-sync it one time in 4 years when the vibration on the bike apparently caused the hard drive to lose data but I didn't have to repair anything. It's done a good job. When riding the bike, I probably use the XM about 80% of the time. When I get into an area of the mountains or trees that are causing signal loss for the XM, I use the Ipod. WHEN I have it with me. I forget it sometimes. That is why the phone/mp3 solution sounds good to me. Flash memory storage and since I always have it with me, I will also have my mp3 with me. Now in my company car, I have my laptop mounted on a Ram mount. I have the GPS and everything I need in the laptop. I also have my Itune software on the laptop so I don't need the Ipod. If I want to listen to my music collection, I just open the Itunes software, unplug the cable from the XM radio and plug it into the headphone jack of my laptop and am good to go. It just feeds the music from the laptop right into cars audio system the same as the XM does.

Also...this is NOT just related to those horns. Many, including me, have experienced that problem with stock and other horns also.

I have an old Honda 200SX, '86 model, here that is pretty much a beater. It's seen a hard life but still runs great. I noticed it on the side of the road on one of my business trips and stopped and looked at it. The guy had bought it a year before and said it didn't run when he bought it and he had never messed with trying to get it running. I bought it for $250.00, took it home, had it running in about 10 minutes. It looks a bit rough but runs fine. I need to buy new sprockets and a chain for it. The front sprocket is worn so bad that the chain will skip on it if you get on it hard.

I was glad to do it Charlie. Sorry it took me so long. They actually may have had them the first place I checked. When I finally found this one, it was not in the Motorcycle section where I expected, it was by the automobile frames.
