Thanks for the report and I am sorry this happened. I found out that the man who set this up for us is no longer there. I called last week and was told that the computer system that they use for the discount codes was down but that the discounts would be manually applied. That is apparently not happening. I am removing DGY from our supporting vendors area until further notice. Don

I ran across this on YouTube....see if you can hear the chirp just before he takes off. Of course, the Samson mufflers drown it out quickly. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WI4WTOkY0Y4]YouTube - Yamaha Royal Star Venture[/ame]

I can't say that I know for sure how it works. You are correct in that there only seems to be one pickup coil. I would just assume that it works via the timing of the engine.
-
Thank you and I hope that if people want to get into the hot debates about all the different conspiracies and etc. that they will go to such a place. Gas prices do affect us all at some level and it's OK to talk about it in general terms. It's when we get into all the political crap, conspiracy sites, etc. that the topics start going downhill.

I don't think the pricing is correct. They show 12,999 I think and they show the symbol for the British Pound. BUT...they also say that it's about 400 pounds more than the current Rocket III. Maybe they are showing the price in Euros but using the British Pound symbol. If they REALLY mean the Euro, then that would make it in the $18,000.00 range which sounds a lot closer to me. Still...I would like to see it in a full dresser style with travel trunk, audio system, intercom, fairing, etc. Now THAT is one that I could get excited about. I would love to ride one. I also found an older article where they tested it against the VMAX and it did very well. Not twice the engine of a VMAX well but still very nice.
-
OK...according the that article the price is 17,999 pounds...so that is about $26,000 USD. For a cruiser with a shield and bags? No thanks. I do like the looks and would love to take one for a ride but that is MUCH higher than a RSV, Wing, or Ultra Classic without ANY of the goodies.
-
They are saying 15,000 pounds I THINK. If so, that comes to over $30,000 USD....if the 15,000 is Euros...it's still about 21,000 USD.... For WHAT? They are going to have to add a LOT more goodies for it to bring anywhere near that price.
-
OK...I found a little info and you are right. Not a TRUE touring bike. It's a shame...with that engine...it could make an awesome tourer. Add a trunk, full fairing, etc. http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/News/newsresults/mcn/2007/May/may-1-to-may-6/may0207triumphtourerspied/?&R=EPI-90926

and you posted the pictures WHERE?
-
I used to have it written up in the Embarrassing moments area but I think that was before the crash. I'll write it up again later but the short version is that if you are changing the oil on your RSV, sitting beside it when adding the new oil, reach up and grab the handlebar to pull the bike in a vertical position, you do NOT want to pull it over on top of you. It WILL leave a mark.

Thanks for the reminder. I haven't even set the date yet for Maintenance Day but will give it some thought and try to get the rally list updated in the next day or two...at least with the dates that we have at this time.

Like to ask Question on weight
Freebird replied to JOE MCDERMOTT's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Joe, I hope that the new bike works out better for you. I know that you weren't happy with the RSV. Just because you traded, you don't have to leave us now. We are about more than the brand. Don -
I'm going to let those who were involved in collecting all the pictures draw a winner. You see, I'm passing the buck on this one.

Orrin, You are getting way ahead of what I know about brakes. In my opinion, what you are wanting to do would require a lot more engineering than what we are doing with the rear proportioning valve. I think that getting the correct balance from front to rear would be the hardest part and would require more components.
-
There are a LOT of synthetic blends on the market. I have never been a fan of them but some folks use it. I'll stick with my Mobil 1 thank you. I assume that they are saying the thicker oil might make it run quieter. Some have done that for some time now with varying reports on how much it helps.

Here you go. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=13098

I don't know how well it works because I've never tried one but there is a product called the "Zapper" that is supposed to help. I've seen them several places including a local "Do it Best" hardware store up the road from me.
-
It works great. I did that repair on mine about 3 or 4 years ago. I have removed that chrome strip several times since then and have never had another problem with it.
-
Folks, you really should consider the proportioning valve modification that Rick Butler has come up with. It's very good and very affordable. You do not have to be a mechanical genius to install it. I think the total time to install is probably about 30 minutes.

Here you go. Go to this link and the scroll down....second or third product from the bottom I think. http://www.badgemaker2.com/web_store/web_store.cgi?page=mc_plates.html&category=yes&cart_id=

It doesn't matter how long it takes...it's the ADVENTURE that is important. I'll leave the light on for you.
-
Thanks...I wasn't sure. On the RSV it's the right front but something was telling me that it wasn't the same for the Royale. DUH...come to think of it...the RSV doesn't COME with a tach. Mine is hooked to the right front because that is where I connected it.
-
I really like those things. Heck, I could put a Swisher mower behind it and be good to go. You gonna drive it up here.
-
Now it REALLY sounds electrical. The tach gets its feed from the right front coil I think. Sounds like either a TCI or coil problem.
