I have ordered the cast Pewter Guardian bells with our VentureRider logo. I will take orders for the laser engraved black bells later if there is enough interest. The price isn't quiet as good as I had hoped and is costing me a fairly significant amount up front for the carving of a wax model and then the molds make from the model. For that reason, I am going to start taking the orders now in hopes of defraying some of that expense out of my pocket. The price will be $12.00 per bell plus $1.80 shipping per bell. For those ordering more than one bell, please add 50 cents shipping for each additional bell. So, 1 bell would be $13.80, 2 bells would be $26.30, 3 bells would be $38.80, 4 would be $51.30 and 6 bells would be...well...you get the idea. I'm sure that shipping will be more to Canada but I don't know how much. I will try to get a shipping price to Canada tomorrow. It shouldn't be too much higher. I WILL ship only USPS. PayPal will charge me 2.9%+.30 cents per order but I will absorb that. No problem. So, that's the deal. I have ordered 250 bells for this first order. If I run out, I can get the next ones quicker as the molds will already be made. Delivery time for this first order is estimated at 3 weeks. I know that some of you want to receive these as gifts and do the exchange. You can work that out and start another thread for the swaps or however you wish to do it. If you buy bells and want them sent to somebody else, just include the address where you want them sent in the "notes" section when you PayPal or with your money order if you pay that way. I'm also going to send an email to all our members in case there are those who have not seen the info on the bells. To be totally honest, I could have gotten these done at a better price had I ordered them from China. I had some very good quotes from China and I'm sure that they would have been fine. The thing is though, I'm not 100% sure what they were made of. I was told "zinc alloy", "nickel plated", "pewter type process", etc. and etc. and I'm sure that any of those would have worked but just wasn't sure what we were getting. The other thing is, I really do like to deal with a USA or Canadian company if at all possible. So, I ended up paying more for these but I think I made the right decision for us. The USA manufacturer that I am dealing with is hand carving the model from clay. He will then make an epoxy or silicone mold from the wax model. From that mold he creates a sterling silver mold as the final mold. They are then cast with 100% lead free pewter.

Not near as common but does happen. Most likely a new front tire will solve it but it is also very possible that your head bearings are just a bit loose.

Folks, it is my fault that Dallas no longer posts here. He was NOT banned in any manner. He liked posting controversial things and sometimes could be very insulting to other members. Most of us came to know his personality and pretty much just brushed it off but some of the newer members didn't always know how to take him. He made such a post one day and then posted something along the lines of "Don, you better get used to sitting at the computer with your finger on the delete button because I'm going to post what I want to". I don't remember the exact words but something close to that. I emailed Dallas and told him that I appreciated most of his input on the site but that I would never allow myself to be put in the position of having to sit at a computer all the time out of fear of what a certain member might post. I told him that nobody has ever been banned from our site and I hoped that it never became necessary but I would do that before being held hostage by anybody. He replied that he was leaving the site and that I was just afraid that he was becoming too famous and more popular than me and that I was scared of that. He then quit posting and has never been back.

I'm not sure but can say for certain that it is NOT a Venture seat. I DO think that it is a Royal Star Seat but am not sure. I looked up the part number for the seat on a '97 Royal Star and it is 4NK-24710-00-00

I'm getting some better quotes now. It's not just the setup fee. They first have to make a model of the bell with our logo integrated into it. A model maker will do that. Then the mold is made from the model. I'll let you know but right now I'm getting some decent quotes with setups about half that and less.

Well here's my take on it. Yes, you read a lot of problems here but most are either minor or can be corrected. All bikes have the same thing in one way or another. Look back at the first gens even when they were new. There were stator problems, frame problems, gear problems and more. The older Wings had stator problems that required pulling he engines to replace. The new Winds had a problem with frames cracking. The Harley EVO had a problem with base gaskets leaking and the new Twin Cam had problems with the cams and also some of the same tranny whine problem as some complain about with the second gen. As for a track record, my '99 is over 8 years old now so that's not a bad record. As for the size, I owned an '88 Venture and was severely cramped on it. I'm 6' 2" tall and most of that is LEGS. I've never owned, ridden even sat on a bike that is as comfortable as the RSV for riders with long legs. I've look at a lot of bikes since buying my RSV and have not yet seen one that I liked any better. I sort of have an itch for a new bike now but probably won't be buying one anytime soon and if I did, I have no idea what I could buy that I like better. I want to try an Ultra Classic someday but I know they don't have as much room as the RSV. The best testimony I can offer to the RSV on my own behalf is that I have owned literally dozens of cars and motorcycles in my life and have never owned ANYTHING for more than maybe 2 years TOPS. Never thought I would keep any bike as long as I have this one.

Yes, just plug it and you should be fine. As soon as my warranty was up, I removed it all completely.

The front grills don't come off if I remember correctly. you remove the 4 screws from the back and remove and install the speakers from the back. It's been a while so I may be wrong but I THINK that is how I did it.

I don't really care about topping off...I don't figure that little bit of gas is going to matter but I DO like rounding off the price to an even number...just a little quirk of mine. Some of these pumps make that VERY difficult. -
I keep hearing about solvents and removers and etc. but to be honest, I've found that when you wet any of these stickers it just makes a mess. I simply used a razor blade to gently lift one of the corners and just slowly pealed it off. It left no residue and came off clean and in one piece. Maybe I just got lucky.

Yes, I would not use the Yamaha logo because they would not be happy about it. Besides, I'm doing this for us, not trying to get rich.

OK folks...another update. I've now received some quotes. The first one scared me a bit. Usable model and production tooling $875.00. Then the price per bell. That scared me a bit. I've since gotten a couple more quotes though that cut the model and tooling cost to about half that. I knew that this was going to cost me some money up front but not THAT much. Anyway, my goal is to get these with our logo and be able to sell them for about the same price as the mass produced ones that are all over the Internet. That would be between $8.00 and $12.00 per bell. I know that's a pretty wide range but I'm obviously shooting for the lower end. I'll keep you posted but I do think this is going to happen.

Propane where I live is not half the price. It's already up to about 2.45 per gallon and still going up. What kind of mileage do you get as opposed to gasoline? If you suffer in gas mileage, it will quickly wipe out the bit that you save.
