  1. Marshall Gammon was kind enough to send me this diagram showing how to properly use hook up a SWR meter if you have done the Marshall Mod to your radio. I am attaching two files. One is a regular .jpg file but the reduction in size makes it a bit hard to read. The other is a .ppt file. Very good quality if you have PowerPoint. If you don't know what the Marshall Mod is, here is a link to Marshall's page. http://bludolphintravel.com/gmg/marshallmod.htm Thanks go out to Marshall for the excellent diagram. 14145.ppt

  3. I agree. If it's shifting and running right, I would suspect the bulb or wiring. Certainly nothing to worry about in my opinion.
  4. These forks were listed in the classifieds by Dakotasport. I was actually interested in them myself but will not be pursuing them at this time. See this thread for further details. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=17622
  5. To keep this problem isolated to one thread, please take any discussions about any bad dealings to this thread. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=17622
  6. OK folks. It is with some regret and hesitation that I re-open this thread. I think that we have become a pretty close family here and like to give people the benefit of the doubt. I also felt that the best chance of reaching a resolution to the problems here was to not alienate the seller and run him off. The best chance of finding a positive outcome would have been to keep it to a dull roar, keep him within our folds and hope that he would find it in himself to do the right thing. The person referred to here as the seller was member Dakotasport. The email address that he has listed here is bigggdozzer@yahoo.com and the number he had listed to contact him was 727-364-7639. He lists New Port Richey, FL as his city of residence. The name is Tim Moulton. This is all information that he posted here publicly so I have no problem adding it to this post. Tim has been a member here for over a year and even tried to organize a meet and eat in FL a while back. So he is not a person who just jointed up here to start posting items for sale and scam people. He has been a fairly active participant of our club. That is all the info I have on him. I truly wanted to, still want to, give Tim the benefit of the doubt but he has made that very difficult at this time. I have sent him PMs and Emails. I had initially considered the possibility that maybe he was sick, in the hospital, or some other similar situation. The fact is though, he has visited the site and even posted about another item that he had for sale AFTER I sent him the email asking for some clarification and at least his side of the story. Therefore, I know that he has had the opportunity to reply. I have also sent him a PM but it shows "unread" at this time. In almost all cases, there are at least two sides to any dispute. Whatever the sides may be though, there is no excuse for refusing to reply to emails, telephone calls, etc. At this time, I know of at least 3 incidents regarding deals with this member. 1. A member bought a seat from Dakotasport. Sent him $265.00. Never received the seat. Emails and messages left on his telephone have gone unanswered. He did finally post that a message in response to this issue that he was sorry and would get the seat right out. It seems that he had actually sold the seat to somebody else or decided to keep it and offered a different seat in place of it. I don't know if the different seat was acceptable, the same, different, more worn, whatever but apparently that seat was not wanted or never sent. I'll have to let the member who was buying a seat fill in the details. 2. He was looking for a set of slash cut mufflers and had a set of mufflers that he wanted to trade. One of our members sent him a set of mufflers. Upon received them, he decided that there were not in as good of condition as he desired. He notified the member that he did not want to trade but would be willing to buy them. I don't know if he wasn't happy with the proposed price or if the other member decided no thanks, just send them back please but what I do know is that he stopped responding. He kept the mufflers and stopped replying to emails or telephone messages left. 3. There was another member who bought an item from him. He mailed the check. Once the check was received, Dakotasport contacted him saying that he was going to need more money. The member buying the part did send the extra money asked for and did finally receive the part. I have heard that there may be some other incidents also but don't know for sure and have no details. I should also point out that some members here have purchased items from Dakotasport and have reported that the exchange went perfectly. So these are the facts as I know them. I truly hate having to bring something like this to light without having heard the other side, if any, of the story but I would be remiss if I just sat here and allow this to continue without at least letting our members know that there could be issues with dealing with this person. He even had a set of chrome forks for sale off a Midnight Venture that I and at least one other member here was interested in but I personally can not send him money at this time knowing about these other issues. I have removed all ads from Dakotasport from our classifieds. I am also posting a link to this thread in any other threads where he has offered items for sale. At this time, I would simply say that it is a "buyer beware" situation. I am not banning him at this time. If I ban him, he will not be able to login here and respond to any PMs that I have sent nor reply to and clear up any of these issues. I will give him another day or two and then if he chooses to not respond and resolve these problems, he will be permanently banned from the site. I would ask that the members who are involved in these disputes to please post here and make any corrections to the limited details that I have posted. I also want to apologize to all that this has happened. We have a good group here but unfortunately, things like this are bound to happen sooner or later. I will continue doing all that I can to prevent such things but there is no sure fire way to do so. I will also ask that we keep the "flaming" to a minimum. At this point, the goal should still be to try and reach a good resolution to the problem and try to get the money and/or items back from Dakotasport. I still hold a very flickering hope that there will be some reasonable explanation that though may not excuse it, will help us to understand why. At this point, unless we learn something very soon, I would recommend that any of you who have paid for parts and not received them to look into any legal options that you might have. Small claims court is usually the place to address such things. Don
  7. I know now that I am truly getting old. Didn't see the girl. Had to go back and look again. As for the trailer, I think it looks pretty nice. Looks to be pretty well built.
  8. Yes, it was on this site, in the classifieds. The ad has been deleted but they may still be available. I'm not sure. I'll try to find out and will let you know.
  9. Folks...I am going to close this thread now and hide all the posts except for this last one. It's not that I don't appreciate all the feedback and the attempt for the members here to watch out for one another, that's what makes you all so great. I do want to give the seller a fair chance though and allow him to respond to me or those that feel they have been left hanging. I promise you that if I don't get a response and/or good explanation soon, I will post more details. In the meantime, all the ads from this seller have been removed.
  10. WHOOooooaaa there my friend. I will vouch for you any time. Don't take it personal, there are many ways to be Midnight Rider. We have Midnithrdr, it could be midnightrider all one word....Midnight_Rider.....lot's of possibilities. So let's all take a DEEP breath.....think about warm ocean waves licking the white sands of a tropical beach....cool drink in hand with the head and soft hair of your loved one resting gently on your chest....there....now relax......smell the fresh air brought in by the ocean breeze...you are feeling relaxed now......let your mind drift off to faraway and happy places.......
  11. I'm just not sure. I love the Heritage, very nice bikes. Now may not be the best time to do a price comparison but from what I can see, you may be paying what it's worth and getting much more in the spring may or may not be that easy. Here are some Ebay listings of similar models. Some much newer bringing about that same price. http://motors.shop.ebay.com/Motorcycles___W0QQMake247a0eZHarleyDavidson76180c4QQModel4710b09ZSoftaile9e2b4ba?_rkw=Heritage
  12. Just a note here. I don't know what is going on but there are some unresolved issues between Dakotasport and some members that he has sold to. I recommend that any deals be approached with caution until they are resolved.
  13. First of all folks...let's see what kind of responses I get. Maybe there is an illness, maybe something else has happened which will help us to better understand, if not excuse, what is going on. I have been in contact with all parties but am awaiting a response from the seller. In the meantime, until this is resolved, I have removed all ads by this particular seller so you need not worry about the classified listings as they now stand. Hopefully we can get this resolved soon.
  14. Please send me a PM or an email. Let me try to deal with it first. Thanks.
  15. Just wondering if any of our Canadian members have received their's yet?
  16. Just wanted to let you all know that though I've not posted much over the past few days, I am keeping up with all thats going on. I caught some sort of winter bug and have been down for a few days. Running a high temperature, congestion, ear infection.....all that goes along with it. Had a flu shot a few weeks ago so don't think it's the flu but something has sure put a whuppin on me. Haven't been to the doctor but may go today....probably not though. I actually think that MAYBE I'm feeling a bit better this morning so hopefully maybe I'm starting to come out of it.
  17. Yea...they are apparently just trying to sell us on their services. What they have so far is WAY off.
  18. Here is a great picture that Kenw sent to me of him and his wife. I've flown a bit also but never finished getting my license. Wish I had and maybe I will one of these days.
  19. I'm glad that you are all enjoying the bells. I am very pleased with them. I hope that everybody receives theirs soon. Hopefully our Canadian members will start seeing them over the next few days. Several of you have ordered more since receiving your first orders. Your second orders have all been shipped as well as those of you who decided to order later. I do still have some more so if anybody wants more or have decided now that you would like one or more, just let me know. Don
  20. I've used those people before to deliver a bike that I bought off Ebay. They did a good job and the bike arrived in good shape but it took longer than expected. I was in no hurry so it wasn't an issue but if you are shipping it and need it there on a specific date, make sure that they understand that and allow extra time.
  21. Here you go. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=6069
  22. Very good point and well said. It caused me to reflect on my own riding experience. I started riding when I was 14 years old. Never had any kind of training, no safety courses, didn't even know how to shift the gears and work the clutch. I just got on a bike and figured out how to make it go...and then go FASTER. I rode for many years after that and have owned a lot of different bikes of all brands and models. About 15 years ago, I took about a 2 or 3 year break from riding. When I started again, I had moved from California back to Texas and when I swapped my drivers license back to Texas, they missed adding the motorcycle endorsement I had had since I first got a license when I was 15. So, it was either take the written and drivers test or take the safety course in lieu of the driving test. I decided to take the course and am very glad that I did. It helped me to be more observant and to break some age old bad habits. I later took the advanced riders course just because I wanted to and am glad that I did that also. I recommend the course to anybody and everybody, regardless of how long you have been riding.
  23. Like many of you, I have owned a LOT of trucks in my life. My all time favorites were a '66 Chevy and a '72 Chevy Super Cheyenne. I hope to buy another of those one of these days. I've also owned Ford, Dodge, Mitsubishi, International. I have to admit that between Ford and Chevy, I am more of a Chevy man. The best Ford I ever owned was actually a '69 short wheel base two wheel drive with a 302 and three speed manual on the column. Here is the '72 Chevy that I wish I had never sold and the '69 Ford that was a darn good truck. Oh..and yes...I've owned newer trucks of course. Had a 2003 Chevy S10 ZR2 that was pretty nice and a couple of full sized Chevies also. Last Ford I had was an '88 or something Ford F150 that I took as a trade in on a Chevy that I was selling. That particular Ford was junk. Tranny shifting VERY hard, bed rusted out above rear tires, one rear leaf spring broken. I guess it had really been abused.
  24. If you are looking for a hard copy, I don't have one. You can download a .pdf version though. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=3384
  25. Yes they did. I don't know if it is still available or not. Yes, it was for the first gen but there are a lot of things that do cross over. I never owned that one but heard that it had some GREAT info in it.
