  1. Well...we got home last night. Had a great time but now it's time to get back to work. I'm starting to feel a bit better but am STILL fighting this cold, crud, whatever it is that started before Christmas. I think I'm about to kick it though. Anyway, it's back to work tomorrow. I'll be going out of town tomorrow morning for the week and that is when I get most of the work done on the forum. Gives me something to do while sitting around the hotel rooms at night. Several of you have emailed and sent me PMs about one thing or another and none are forgotten. All your messages are saved and I'll get busy tomorrow night taking care of business here.
  2. OK folks...I did go back and delete some of the older ads. Here's the thing though, you can't always tell by the original posting date if they have been renewed or not. The way it is set up, the seller will get an email after the time expires, say 30 days. There is a link in the email which he can click on to renew the ad for another 30 days. I think that this can be done up to 5 times but don't remember for sure. So if you see ads dated back in August or so, they have likely been renewed. I now have it set so that the longest you can place an ad is 30 days. It can then be renewed x number of times though but at least the seller has to renew it and therefore acknowledge that the items are still for sale. If there are ads there now that you are getting no responses to, let me know and I'll remove them. Also, if I removed any of your ads and your items were still available, I apologize and ask that you relist your item.
  3. OK....the cron file appears to be fine. I think the problem was that the option to select "never expire" was still there so if the person who placed the ad chose that option, it would remain. I just changed it so that 30 days is the max that can be selected. That doesn't help with the ads that are already there. When I get home from vacation, I will get busy going through all the ads, contacting all the sellers and deleting any that are no longer good or that I get no responses from. We are heading towards home this morning. Probably going to stay just this side of Chicago tonight and then drive on home tomorrow. It's been fun but time to get back to work I suppose. By the way, it IS fairly easy to roll a snowmobile over.
  4. It's always terrible news when such a thing happens. Like everybody else has said, the important thing as that you can both talk about it. We all get a bit personal about our bikes but in the end, they are just things...metal, plastic, rubber, etc....all replaceable. You too could never be replaced and we don't even want to think about every trying to. Thanks for the call last night and though I'm far away from there right now, you know that I would do anything that I can to help.
  5. -2 F here in Hayward, WI today. Also, I'm missing my traditional New Years Day ride for the first time in many years. Guess I'll just have to do it on a snowmobile.
  6. from the frozen wonderland of Hayward, WI. We are having a great time here. Lot's of good food, lots of snow, lots of COLD. It is truly beautiful though and we are really enjoying it. The company resort has lots to do. A nice lodge with pool table, foosball, air hockey, ping pong, etc. Lot's of snowmobiles free to us to use all we want and thousands of acres to ride. The drive up here wasn't too bad. Hit some fairly heavy snow showers about 50 miles before we got here but wasn't too bad. Ended up taking about 12 hours to get here. 755 miles and could have made it a bit quicker if the weather hadn't turned somewhat bad. We will be here all week and plan to head home next Saturday. Hope you all have a wonderful New Years and that everybody be smart and safe. I'm not getting online very often but am trying to check messages once per day. Don
  7. Actually, if you remove the little caps off the end of the weights, there is a place to insert an Allen wrench to unscrew them. As for getting the grips off, I simply took a very thin bladed screw driver, worked it between the rubber and the bars and then worked it all the way around. They then just pulled right off. Of course, you only have to do that on the left side. The ride side just slides off.
  8. Well folks, early tomorrow morning we will be leaving for the companies resort near Hayward, WI. It will just be Eileen and I along with our son Dylan and one of his friends. Before leaving though, I just wanted to pay a special tribute to a special lady. Approximately 13 years ago, I was living in San Diego, CA but was in Dallas, TX on a business trip. It's a long story that I won't tell right now but the bottom line is that I met a very special lady. I was just out of a bad relationship and certainly not looking to get back into a relationship at the time. Eileen had been divorced for many years and was very content with her life and was looking even LESS than I was to get into a relationship. The fact is though, and I honestly believe this, there was a higher power who took control of the situation and thrust us towards one anyway. There are many things that happened but suffice to say, it was just meant to be. Tomorrow we will celebrate 12 years of marriage. I wish that I could say that it has been a heavenly 12 years but there have been some rough times, mostly from outside influences. Family illnesses, deaths in the family, many things and it has been very difficult at times. The one thing though that has carried us through it though is a love for each other that I never knew could be so strong. I know that some of you may not believe this, but there is a slight possibility that I can be hard to live with at times.. NO...really....it's true. What can I say, she has stood beside me even when I sometimes thought I was strong enough to stand alone. She knows and understands my weaknesses better than I do and for that I give thanks to our Heavenly Father on a very regular basis. The Lord knows what we need and when we need it and provided me with a very special partner that I honestly don't know, now, how I could do without. OK...sorry about getting all mushy on you but just wanted to publicly acknowledge what a wonderful person she is. She allows me the time to enjoy this site and all of the friends I have made here and that alone is a pretty big deal. In that regard, I promise you that I will be here and that I will continue to work towards making this a better place for all of us but I am also pledging to be more available to my lovely wife this year and recommit myself to a wonderful person that deserves all that I can be for her. Besides all that....she is HOT!!!!!!! and now back to our regularly scheduled program.
  9. OK....I think that enough has been said about this now. Actually some of it should have been taken to private email several threads ago. I am closing this thread.
  10. If I thought I was going to need one anytime soon, I would sure be in. My Odyssey is 4 years old now and going strong. I think they are the best battery going.
  11. It's really simple to do. You need a lift to do it. This may help some but I don't know of any good pictures that have been posted. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=492
  12. Great looking family. You should be very proud.
  13. Assuming that I continue to get better, I plan to take the family to the company resort in Wisconsin next week. I think we will leave on Saturday and not return until the next Saturday. Spend some leisure time and rest up a bit. I will have Internet service there so will be checking in from time to time but let me take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy new year. I hope that 2008 will be one of good health and prosperity for all of you.
  14. Well folks....I STILL haven't shaken this thing. I feel better and I think that my lungs and etc. are pretty much back to normal and I'm not running a temperature. It moved into my head though. Severe ear infection for over a week now. Finally did go to the doctor. Taking an antibiotic, as bad as I hate taking them. Almost deaf due to my ears being so plugged up. Anyway, I DO think I'm getting better. Thanks for all the well wishes and hopefully I will be back to normal soon. I mean normal for ME...I realize that "normal" is a relative term.
  15. Eck, I thought you knew better than that.....trying to reason with a WOMAN??????
  16. The price for two bells, including shipping to Canada, is $27.30. PayPal to dnelson@axcesswave.com Thanks
  17. See this thread for pricing and etc. As for giving it to yourself? Heck to me it's all in good fun. I'm not very superstitious. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=16373
  18. OK folks....I hope that most of you have received your guardian bells now. I still have a few left and just wanted to make sure that everybody has them that wanted them. I may try to put some of them on Ebay if you are all covered. I'm sure that the rest will sell quickly and it will probably help a few others find our site also. So, PLEASE don't buy them if you don't want them but just wanted to give you an opportunity before I list them.
  19. Any experience with these? I'm not thinking of getting one but it seems like an interesting alternative to those who are worried about the bikes electrical capacity. http://www.webbikeworld.com/r3/heated-vest/battery-heated-vest/2007-jett-vest.htm
  20. I have absolutely no problem with it. Appears to be a good cause. Good luck.
  21. RR, Glad to hear that you got most of your money back. Sometimes a few well chosen words can help. Sometimes not. Glad that SOMETHING worked in this situation though. Hopefully he will take care of the other issue also. Lewis, It was all in good fun. He was probably just upset because you didn't invite him.
  22. We are cat lovers also. We are down to one right now though. We lost three over the past 4 or 5 months. Don't know what happened to them but something got them. They never went far from the house and stay in most of the time.
  23. Well...I've modified the brakes on my '99. I've installed the modulator valve that I got from Rick Butler and the TCB unit from Zach. I may have to deal with a lawyer someday but I hope not. I just know that the brakes are MUCH better now and I would rather prevent an accident, injury, even death....than worry about what some lawyer might think later.
  24. Heck...I was getting ready to reply that I have an old one but then realized that the one off my '99 would not exactly work for you.
  25. Well...still no response from Dakotasport so as of a few minutes ago, I have banned him from the site. All the info I have on contacting him is listed in this thread. Sorry this happened and maybe he will come through yet but it doesn't look good. Don
