  1. I'm sure you will really enjoy it. I actually tried to buy a new Wing a few years ago. Had it all picked out, accessories chosen, final negotiating was done. Went in the sign the papers and thought it was a done deal when suddenly they asked to see my AARP card....WHAT???? Didn't have one, wasn't old enough at that time. Who would have know that it was a requirement.
  2. Received my CD today and just wanted to again thank Kevin for doing this. I was on my way to town when I stopped to check the mail and there it was. Enjoyed listening to it while running some errands. Very nice "feel good" songs sung...and some written I think...by one of our own.
  3. I want to thank all of you who were able to contribute to this cause. The auction for the bells have ended and did very well I think. They brought about $150.00 each for a total of about $750.00. We also had several donations sent by PayPal and by snail mail. I sent Cliff a nice check this morning that I KNOW will be much appreciated. Far short of what they need but at least a good start. KR1 is still offering his CDs with 100% of the proceeds going to the cause. There is a sticky thread at the top of the watering hole with the details. Thanks much to Kevin for doing this. Don
  4. No problem...it hasn't always worked this way. I added a new feature a while back that converts the links and plays them right here. Actually, it might have been OK if I had just added a note to the top of the post about the language. Then those who didn't want to see it could have just refrained from clicking the start button.
  5. You know....that WAS funny but the language is a bit rough for this site. For those of you who are OK with the language and want to see it, just go to http://www.youtube.com and search for "downfall", including the quotation marks and it will come right up for you.
  6. WOW....that looks like the new fuel injected/turbo charged one. You are going to have your hands full. Congrats, hope all goes perfectly for you all.
  7. I'm sure that's not a piggy backer. Looks like a fiberglass trailer. Very nice.
  8. Very nice indeed. I mean...it's not a RSV but hey....we don't mind you slumming it around us.
  9. I'm not sure if you are looking for a new OEM seat or aftermarket. There are still aftermarket seats available. Corbin for one: http://www.corbin.com/yamaha/ventmenu.shtml There website is terrible now but I think that Saddleman still makes their RoadSofa for the first gen also. http://www.saddlemen.com/metric/metric.html and there's the Russell Day Long http://www.day-long.com/new_pages/yamaha.html
  10. A lot of the new phones have an entry "ICE" programmed in. You just add the number that you want used.
  11. I really don't think it's "spin" and don't know that it explains everything but I think that a big part of it is that most universities here now are ultra left wing in their teaching and ideologies. One of the left wing ideologies is strict gun control.
  12. What did you do? Order the Edsets without the helmet speakers and with the adapter for the earbuds? Oh...and thanks.
  13. hmmmm.....sounds like a pretty darn good deal. As for using the cyclegadget cable, the problem is that my headsets are AirRiders and the microphone is integral with the left speaker so I won't be able to cut the speakers off. The speakers are too tight against my ear so I wouldn't be able to use them with the ear buds. If I have to, I'll just buy a cheap J&M headset to play with.
  14. There are some headsets on the market for 1/2 helmets. I know that J&M makes one. http://www.sierra-mc.com/proddetail.asp?prod=JM%2DHS%2DICD284%2DHHU%2DHO
  15. If anybody here has an old headset that they want to part with, I would like to have it. I am looking for something where the cord and mic are OK but the speakers are shot. I want to experiment with adding a 3.5" stereo jack to them so that you can just plug in a set of noise canceling ear buds of any brand and completely remove the existing speakers.
  16. Why not go with the J&M unit. All in one handlebar mounted package. They make a solo version and also a rider/passenger version with intercom. Then you can just plug an MP3 or whatever into it. http://www.sierra-mc.com/products.asp?cat=243
  17. Eileen and I use the Nolan N41 Classics. We really like them. They have flip up shields. Mine is in the up position almost 100% of the time but she likes hers down. We both wear glasses with them and they work great. This link has some details and pictures. I'm using it to show the models, I've never bought from this company and know nothing about them. http://www.extremesupply.com/nolanhelmets/n41classic.htm
  18. I would like to find just a noise reducing microphone that clamps to the helmet with a jack for earbud speakers and a lower cord that plugs it all into the bikes system.
  19. I had problems with the '88 Venture. If you removed your hands from the grips even for a second, it would go into a wobble. I repacked and adjust the head bearings and it helped but did not correct it. I never did get rid of it completely. Have never had a problem with the '99. When I was MUCH younger and VERY MUCH dumber, I had a friend with a new Kawasaki Ninja. He told me that it was supposed to run about 165 MPH but he would never know. I volunteered to find out for him. I took it down a rural part of I30 in Texas and put it to the test. At somewhere between 155 and 160 MPH, it developed a shake or wobble. I found that as long as I tried to hold it at a steady speed that it would go away but every time I tried to slow down in any manner, it would get increasingly worse. I figured I was in somewhat of a bind because sooner or later, I was going to have to somehow stop. After tried several different things, I finally just gritted my teeth and let off the throttle. It got very bad and it was all I could do to hold on when suddenly around 140 MPH or so...it started smoothing out again. Scared the crap out of me. When I finally did get stopped, I just pulled over onto the shoulder and smoked a few cigarettes. I know I was very lucky.
  20. I agree that torsion axles are the way to go on these small home made trailers. Bob Dakin has one that he built using a Sears cartop carrier and he did use the torsion axles. Turned out very nice. Also gives a much quieter ride.
  21. WOW...figured that somebody would have them. I tell you what, I have one on my '99. I like it a LOT but will sell it to you. How about ONE MILLION DOLLARS?????? Hey...I DID say that I like it a LOT.
  22. OK...you know the rules here....gotta see pictures of those bunny slippers.
  23. I've been to Canada many times. Sometimes by motorcycle, by car and by plane. I've never had them do anything more than look at my drivers license and then in later years, my passport and wave me on through. Never had them stop me long enough to run my info for a criminal record. I know that it has happened but I think the chances are very slim. I know that a few years ago when I was with the MTA, we had a rally in High River and had one member turned back at the border. Don't know the details but he did have something in his past and they happened to check his record.
  24. Yea...but with our luck...he probably bred before this happened.
  25. Yep, that should be it. Thanks for the post.
