It's not really about the temps for me. It's about getting the salt washed off the roads. It's really a pain to have to detail the bike to get all the salt off it after every single ride. I don't mind riding down in the low 40s otherwise.

Here is some more info that I picked up. 1. Each state has its own Raffle laws. States where raffles are legal have their own separate rules and regulations for holding raffles. In states where raffles are legal some type of raffle license must be obtained from the pertinent state office. 2. Raffles are considered a form of gambling. Gambling is carefully monitored by state and federal regulations. The three basic criteria that satisfy the definition of gambling are: (1) a prize is awarded; (2) the winner of the prize is determined purely by chance; and (3) some consideration or payment is required to participate.

Nice thought but based upon my past experience, most wouldn't purchase tickets. Also, we don't need that much to keep things going. I am doing OK. It would be GREAT to actually make a bit of money but to be honest, as owner of the site, most of that would go into my pocket.

OK folks...I'm still waiting on another quote but the first one I got may be too much for most folks. The total cost for 250 kits would be $115.00 and that is MY cost. Doesn't include shipping from the manufacturer or to each of you. At this point, I'm thinking to drop the project completely or try to find a Chinese manufacturer. I would actually probably pay that much but I don't know that I could sell 250 of them. The cost to make the master patterns for a cast urethane resin kit scale 1/12th of your bike is. $10,000.00 for the master patterns, includes rubber molds. The per kit cost after that is $75.00 each minimum order 250 units. Terms: are 50% down and the remainder upon completion lead time is 8 to 10 weeks for the master pattern and first article sample

I need to add the standard disclaimer, same as last year. If enough tickets are not sold to cover our cost for the trailer, a prize equal to amount collected will be substituted.

Here is from a reputable tax site: I just entered $16,000.00 on line 21 on my already complete return. It would cost me a little less than $4,000.00. Still quiet a bargain for a new RSV. "You will report the value of the prize on Line 21 of your 1040 Form. You should receive Form 1099Misc for the value as stated by the dealer. It is suggested that you get the fair market value of the prize from another reliable source as well. You can report the lower of the 2 amounts. Attach a statement and a copy of the 1099 misc to your return if you use the fair market value instead of the 1099misc amount and explain how you determined the lower amount. You can increase your withholding from your employer to cover the additional tax OR you can submit Form 1040ES voucher for the quarter of the win to prepay the tax just as if you had tax withheld."

I've added a new feature to the forum that some of you may find useful. When you click on the "search" link in the menu bar, you will now find an option to use "Google" to search the forum. I did this because there was a recent report where a member was looking for a specific thread about installing a Markland Hitch and it didn't come up in the search. Now I just experimented with this. If you use the normal search and enter "Markland Hitch Install", it returns about three threads. If you use the Google search it returns about 2 pages of threads. There is also an option there to search the entire Web or only the VentureRider forum. You WILL see some ads at the top and bottom of the search results pages. They should be related to your search though and just like the Google Ads on the side of the forum, I DO make a couple of penneys to help support the site if anybody sees one of interest and clicks on it. So.....I hope you find the new feature helpful.

That is really great. Got a good laugh out of it.

Well...since this is now a TRUCK forum... Here is one that I really like a lot. It belongs to our very own Gary N. I can't even start to explain all the things that he had done to it but I sure wish I had a reason to own it.

Yes, I've thought about it but that's about all. We'll see if the manufacturers come back with any comments on that.

It really was a good game. When it started, I really didn't have a preference as to who won. As I watched the game though, I found myself pulling for the Giants. Maybe because they were the underdog or maybe it was something about seeing Payton there pulling so hard for little brother to get his own ring. I wouldn't have been upset either way but was happy in the end to see the Giants win it.

Handle Bar Clamp with Risers??
Freebird replied to M61A1MECH's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I saw your question and sure wish I could help. I have the Flanders Bars and not the risers and don't have that piece anyway to do any measuring for you. -
It is very handy. I have all my cds on the IPOD. I used to have a CD changer on the RSV but then had to decide which cds I wanted to take and etc. With the IPOD, I can choose from my collection anything that I want depending upon the mood that I'm in. I can also create playlists that contain different artists and types of music. I can do that before I leave and don't have to search while I'm on the road. Finding tunes is very easy. You can sort by artist, cd, genre.....etc. I love it.

OK folks...we have decided to give away another new Bushtec trailer this year at the International VentureRider Rally. As last year, you DO NOT HAVE TO BE PRESENT TO WIN. The winner will be awarded a gift certificate for their choice of the Bushtec RoadStar or Turbo II trailer. You will be responsible for picking up the trailer from Bushtec or paying for shipping. Please see the rally page at http://www.venturerider.org/irally for complete details and to order your raffle tickets.
