I believe the Wind uses an entirely different tire. If I'm not mistaken, they use a radial. At any rate, you won't find many here that don't love the Avons. It appears to pretty much be the tire of choice for the Venture. I've run Dunlop, Bridgestone, Metzler and Michelin. The Michelin has been my favorite to date but I'm one of the few here who hasn't tried the Avon. I will be putting a set of Avons on this season to compare them to the Michelins. Now for the RSV, the only tire that there have been repeated reports of failure is the Metzler. A few here have run them and are happy but there have been MANY cases of tread separation.

NO NO NO NO... I've got Dish Network, an IPOD, a Venus with 8GB of memory, 3 XM Radios and accounts, one Sirius radio and account....I am NOT looking at anything else...I'M NOT ... I'M NOT.

As I've posted before, I've had XM in my home, car, work car, and motorcycle for about 4 years now. I've become less satisfied with them over the past months though due to more and more advertising. Often it is only advertising about other XM channels but to me, that is STILL advertising. Just play the music and get rid of ALL ads, djs, etc. Today I bought a Sirius and will see how it compares. If I'm happier with it, I will be replacing all my XM units with Sirius. I just bought one unit for now. It came with the vehicle kit and I picked up a home kit for it also. I've been listening to it for a couple of hours now and so far like the music channels better than the XM. I already knew that I would though because I get XM music channels on my TV with my Dish Network service. The only downside is that the decent Sirius units are expensive. I will say that you get more receiver for the money with XM.

Well....it appears that Verizon has FINALLY got this issue figured out. I received the new phone last week and it had the same issue, only utilized 4 GB of the 8 GB card. After working with them on the issue they then sent me yet another Venus and this one does work correctly. It has the 8 GB card in it and I have about 7 GB of music uploaded to it now. That's somewhere around 2,000 songs. Plenty for a short ride or two. They haven't told me officially what the problem was and I really don't think they will because I believe it is a big problem for them. These last two have the same firmware. I heard from another source that all the original Venus phones had a faulty chip that was causing the problem. I think what will happen is that they will deal with only the people who scream the loudest. Many will use memory cards 4 GB or less so will never know that they have a problem. Anyway, I'm happy with it for now. I'll use it for a few weeks and see how it does. I will say that the sound through a decent set of earbuds is great. I've also used a patch cord and hooked it into my cars stereo system and it sounds great there also.

OK folks...here is where I am on this project. I can mix and match colors and long/short sleeves. I can't mix and match art and text as that requires a separate screen and artwork. Now they told me that the art of the engine is too detailed and will have to be reworked. They are doing that for me. I have ordered ONE shirt for me. Believe me, ordering ONE custom shirt is NOT the way to go. I did it though to protect the innocent. I don't want to order a lot of shirts only to find out that they don't look good. I should have mine in a week or so. If I'm happy with it, I will start taking your orders for colors, sizes, sleeves, etc. I think I can get these in sizes up to 4 XXXXL. So feel free to continue your support of the local DQs.

Not sure what you mean. The Venture has the PTT buttons from the factory. The front one is at your left hand. You can reach it without moving your hand from the grip. The rear one is on the left rear speaker pod. Black button.

Yes, this is true. I've had cheap sets and others that I paid over $200.00 per set for and honestly think that the expensive ones are a waste of money. That being said, I have not completely given up. I am still thinking about trying the newest Edsets. I have hesitated due to my past disappointments with the high dollar units and hate to spend another $200.00 per set for something that I may again be unhappy with.

Tomorrow I will find out if I can mix colors, styles, etc. Then I'll know what will be possible.

Well...I've had no critters to ride on the back but after seeing some of these posts, I decided it was time to add one. So keeping with my Freebird theme, I found and bought mine off Ebay today. So I will soon have my own mascot.

No problem....not completely naked but topless.

Splitting the fairing is about the hardest part and that's pretty simple. Did you see the PDF file posted a couple of posts above yours? Those are pretty good instructions from Yamaha. I don't think anybody has done a step by step pictorial. Sorry. -
Probably best to just work your way back. There is a connector under the seat on the left side that goes to the rear for all the lights. I would start there. Unplug it and use a meter to confirm that have power at that point. Then at the rear, you will find plug in connectors behind the license plate. That would be the next place to check. See if you have power there.

There have been some good tag lines submitted here. I have to order these in quantities to get the best price and I can't mix different styles. So.....we need to decide what you want them to say and then how many long sleeve, short sleeve and etc. Also, there are several choices as to brand and weight. I've been looking at Hanes tagless tees. 6.1 ounce. Any of you have a favorite brand and etc. that you wish to suggest?

OK folks.....here is the design now. It just says VentureRider.Org on the front pocket. Didn't have the option to make the 4 smaller at this time.

I think you just answered the question. The Bridgestones can be VERY noisy. At the end of last summer, I had just about worn out my Michelin on the rear. Another member here had a Bridgestone with only a couple of thousand miles on it that he gave to me. Actually, it was the wheel that I wanted, he has converted to a trike, and the wheel happened to have the Bridgestone on it. I truly do HATE that tire. The noise drives me crazy. It will be coming off before riding weather.

Really sorry to hear the news. While the most important thing is that you are here to tell about it, I do understand the loss you feel about the bike. Hopefully we can help you come up with the parts to put it back together...or help you find a new one. The important thing now is to take it easy and let yourself heal properly. -
I think that most are "stud" mounted. There would be a nut on the bottom of the mount that you would just loosen. That's the way that mine and most that I've seen are.
-
Yes, I've got to get some new small patches ordered. Been out for a while. I'll get on that soon.
-
Yes, the play on words with the old double mint gum commercials was intentional. I thought it was fun. Yea, I knew it was a Royal Star engine but I liked the 4 pipes that make it obvious that it's a V4. Nobody will care about the carbs. I'm thinking of other text for other shirts too. V4, TWICE AS NICE is one that comes to mind.
-
That would be my first thought also. Some brands REALLY whine when you get them off dead center. Bridgestone is very bad about it and even my Michelins do it a bit.
-
I understand about the text on the front. Maybe just VentureRider.Org Here is a better picture of the picture on the back.
-
I understand but if I have shirts made, they ARE going to have our club name on them.
-
There can be any kind of sleeves you want. It is purely an idea right now. I am working on other designs also.
-
Folks...I'm working on some shirt designs just for fun. These pictures aren't very good but what do you think of the general concept?
