Rear end gear oil question
Freebird replied to Midrsv's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
It will be fine. That's what I've used in mine for several years. -
I never knew her but just looked at her site and she's not too far from me here in Ohio. Next time I'm down that way, I may just stop by. The best thing would be to find somebody who is willing to do this and ship to our members as they order. Running this site the way I do, I really can't afford to stock an inventory and hate it when people have to wait until we have enough inquiries to place an order. Same thing with the shirts. If we could find a vendor that was willing to make up a selection and keep them stocked for us, that would be great. I don't know if such a thing exists though.

Folding backrest for stock seats?
Freebird replied to Monsta's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
They are very similar but certainly not the same. Diamond R does manufacture their own. -
I don't know what the current rating is for the starter button but I would sure find out before going down that path.

driver's seat bolt nuts
Freebird replied to dharnie's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I've used wingnuts for years. They work OK but you need to use a lock washer and then just snug them down and they will stay. That being said, a lot of folks don't use any nuts at all. It's not going anywhere. -
We are getting hung up on words and definitions. The Venture does indeed us an alternator. Alternators and Generators BOTH use stators. Call it what you want, it doesn't matter. The words are often used interchangeably by many people. Yamaha probably uses the word "generator" because that's the word that many people relate to and understand. The fact here is that you want to get more power out of whatever we call it. Buckeye is the only one at this time to offer a solution.

Gene, I got your message but deleted it. I thought the number would be stored in my phones incoming call memory but for some reason, it's not. So please PM me your number again.

I don't change tracks. I put it on "random" and let it go.

OK folks. I want to thank Crash for handling our caps and shirts for the past 4 years. It is not easy to do with the minimum quantity requirements and etc. but he has done a great job for us and I thank him for all that he has done. He has notified me that due to a new job that he just no longer has the time to do this. I will be looking for a new vendor to handle our caps and thought that I would post here first. I don't know if we have any members who are in the embroidery business or not but if so, here is a GREAT opportunity to work very hard for very little profit and folks, it just don't get no better than that. If you are in the business and wish to discuss it with me, shoot me a PM or an Email. Again, thank you crash for the wonderful job you have done for us.

Folks...it's been a while since I messed with the CDs but if I remember correctly, there were a couple of different 625s. They had different interfaces. One had a C Bus and the other was something different and only one would work. I think the one that WOULD work was a CDC625 or something like that. I'm THINKING that the dcz was the one that would not work. I may be wrong though, it's been a long time.

That's when the XM or Sirius come in handy.

Thanks for the kind words folks. I can assure you that this site is not going away. This is pretty much a labor of love for me. I have made so many great friend because of it, learned MUCH from so many of you, had some great laughs from some of the posts and some real tears from others. It is more than just a website to me. I promise you that all the hours and money that I put into it are well worth it to me. A few of you do hit the donate button from time to time and that is much appreciated but if nobody ever donated again, I would keep this going. I would love to figure out a way to make this a full time business and do nothing but run this site and ride to all the meets and eats and gatherings that we have but that is just a sweet dream. The rewards that I DO get here are much more important than money. You just can't buy friends like I've found here. Thanks for each and every one of you for being a part of VentureRider.org Whether you post every day, just stop by to read and research or just visit from time to time. You are all important and I am honored that you have chosen to make this site at least a small part of your life.

They are VERY special. It takes a very special person to own one. OK...in my opinion..it is just very poor marketing on behalf of Yamaha. You see few of them on the showroom floors. A handful of dealers will have one or two but many dealers won't have one at all. You never see any promotions from Yamaha and when you do, they are typically for their Roadstars and etc. I honestly think that if I were in a high position with Yamaha, I could increase the sales of this bike beyond their wildest dreams.

Your question about more power was answered about 3 posts up. Buckeye performance is the only one I know who sells a higher output alternator.

I believe the Wind uses an entirely different tire. If I'm not mistaken, they use a radial. At any rate, you won't find many here that don't love the Avons. It appears to pretty much be the tire of choice for the Venture. I've run Dunlop, Bridgestone, Metzler and Michelin. The Michelin has been my favorite to date but I'm one of the few here who hasn't tried the Avon. I will be putting a set of Avons on this season to compare them to the Michelins. Now for the RSV, the only tire that there have been repeated reports of failure is the Metzler. A few here have run them and are happy but there have been MANY cases of tread separation.

NO NO NO NO... I've got Dish Network, an IPOD, a Venus with 8GB of memory, 3 XM Radios and accounts, one Sirius radio and account....I am NOT looking at anything else...I'M NOT ... I'M NOT.

As I've posted before, I've had XM in my home, car, work car, and motorcycle for about 4 years now. I've become less satisfied with them over the past months though due to more and more advertising. Often it is only advertising about other XM channels but to me, that is STILL advertising. Just play the music and get rid of ALL ads, djs, etc. Today I bought a Sirius and will see how it compares. If I'm happier with it, I will be replacing all my XM units with Sirius. I just bought one unit for now. It came with the vehicle kit and I picked up a home kit for it also. I've been listening to it for a couple of hours now and so far like the music channels better than the XM. I already knew that I would though because I get XM music channels on my TV with my Dish Network service. The only downside is that the decent Sirius units are expensive. I will say that you get more receiver for the money with XM.

Well....it appears that Verizon has FINALLY got this issue figured out. I received the new phone last week and it had the same issue, only utilized 4 GB of the 8 GB card. After working with them on the issue they then sent me yet another Venus and this one does work correctly. It has the 8 GB card in it and I have about 7 GB of music uploaded to it now. That's somewhere around 2,000 songs. Plenty for a short ride or two. They haven't told me officially what the problem was and I really don't think they will because I believe it is a big problem for them. These last two have the same firmware. I heard from another source that all the original Venus phones had a faulty chip that was causing the problem. I think what will happen is that they will deal with only the people who scream the loudest. Many will use memory cards 4 GB or less so will never know that they have a problem. Anyway, I'm happy with it for now. I'll use it for a few weeks and see how it does. I will say that the sound through a decent set of earbuds is great. I've also used a patch cord and hooked it into my cars stereo system and it sounds great there also.

OK folks...here is where I am on this project. I can mix and match colors and long/short sleeves. I can't mix and match art and text as that requires a separate screen and artwork. Now they told me that the art of the engine is too detailed and will have to be reworked. They are doing that for me. I have ordered ONE shirt for me. Believe me, ordering ONE custom shirt is NOT the way to go. I did it though to protect the innocent. I don't want to order a lot of shirts only to find out that they don't look good. I should have mine in a week or so. If I'm happy with it, I will start taking your orders for colors, sizes, sleeves, etc. I think I can get these in sizes up to 4 XXXXL. So feel free to continue your support of the local DQs.

Not sure what you mean. The Venture has the PTT buttons from the factory. The front one is at your left hand. You can reach it without moving your hand from the grip. The rear one is on the left rear speaker pod. Black button.

Yes, this is true. I've had cheap sets and others that I paid over $200.00 per set for and honestly think that the expensive ones are a waste of money. That being said, I have not completely given up. I am still thinking about trying the newest Edsets. I have hesitated due to my past disappointments with the high dollar units and hate to spend another $200.00 per set for something that I may again be unhappy with.

Tomorrow I will find out if I can mix colors, styles, etc. Then I'll know what will be possible.
