  1. hmmm....sorry...I just can't agree with you. I just used CNET for one example. I've really been reading a lot of reviews and none of them have rated the Airport anywhere near the top and certainly not the longest range. Also, the Wireless N standard has not even been finalized yet and a LOT of computers are still coming with g/a. In fact, I read your post and then went to the Dell site and looked at their notebooks and they are still shipping with the g standard wireless.
  2. You did GOOD. I love the flamed maple Artist series. Wish I could sit it with you. I would play quiet so as not to ruin your music.
  3. But...if you DO want a housing. I just happen to have one. Send me your address and I'll get it in the mail.
  4. I'm facing the same thing. I already have a wireless network based on the "g" standard. I'm getting ready to install my DSL though and for now I plan on keeping both so will be adding another wireless network in my house for redundancy until I have ample time to test both. What I'm finding in my research is that many of the wireless routers only give great performance if you also install their matching wireless cards in your notebooks. I have no intention of buying new cards for our 3 notebook computers at this time. CNET does some pretty good tests but I have still not decided. Several rated much better. This one is high priced for one that really doesn't perform as well as some that are about half the cost. Of course for you Apple lovers, anything made by Apple is always the best. http://reviews.cnet.com/wireless-access-points/apple-airport-extreme-base/4505-3265_7-32307438.html?tag=prod.txt.1 The older model of this one rates higher than the one from Apple. They haven't test this new model yet that I can find. They rate this one as "one of the best they have seen". http://reviews.cnet.com/routers/netgear-wpn824-router/4505-3319_7-31312124.html Here is one that they rated higher than BOTH of those. Better range and better when mixing N, G, etc. http://reviews.cnet.com/routers/belkin-wireless-pre-n/4505-3319_7-30993672.html?tag=prod.txt.1 It also gets the highest ratings at PC Magazine for a wireless N router. http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,1668050,00.asp
  5. Hey...which Seagull did you end up with? Hope you like it as much as I do mine. I've got an S6 with cutaway and Quantum II electronics and gloss top. Really does play nice. I do like the Artist series though. Maybe someday. As for as American Idol. I don't think that she has a chance of winning but I like Brooke White. Love her voice. Reminds me a bit of Carol King.
  6. You might want to call Sierra. They have two for the Harley. One is for '97 and older and the other for '98 and newer. I'm thinking that the one for the older models MIGHT work. I know that Sierra can tell you, they are very knowledgeable. They may even have one for the Goldwing/Venture. I know that they used to. http://www.sierra-mc.com/proddetail.asp?prod=JM%2DHMHU%2D65
  7. I've been in Ohio for about 6 years. It was probably a year before that when it was last tuned. I'm amazed that it sounds as good as it does. Of course, it sounds OK to ME...probably would not sound OK to you or somebody else with a trained ear.
  8. I know that it needs to be turned but it actually still sounds pretty good. It is a Weber I think. I'm not home now but I'm pretty sure I'm remembering it correctly. I bought it new about 10 years ago. It has been tuned a couple of times. Once right after I got it home and again after a move in Dallas. It has not been tuned since moved to Ohio though so I know it needs it. As for who plays it? Nobody really. I play with it some but am worse with it than I am on the guitar. My wife was learning for a while but hasn't pursued it for a few years.
  9. I don't know if Yamaha is using the same switch now that they did in '99. The switch in '99 was a rubber covered push button. I do know that there were a lot of failures of that original switch. Maybe they improved it in later years.
  10. I think it would be fun one of these days for all of us who play to get together and do so. A talent show would be fun and I'm all for it but I WON'T enter. Sorry, I play for me and am just not good enough to play for anybody else. I would strum along with the group though. Bring your guitars if you like. I have a baby grand piano and a Yamaha keyboard so we are covered there. I have a couple of guitars including my Seagull and a low end Yamaha that actually plays pretty well. I have a 35 year old Epiphone also but my son in Texas has it right now.
  11. hmmm....I THOUGHT I explained the connect but maybe not. I was simply saying that watching the show encourages me to play more. Seeing the contestants striving to improve and be better inspires me to do the same. Also this is the first year that they are allowing the contestants to play instruments when they perform and several have played the guitar. Heck..if I live about a hundred more years and practice every day and then they come up with an "OLD FART AMERICAN IDOL".... I may have a real shot.
  12. LOL...If I had predicted the response to this from only TWO people, I would have picked you two and been exactly right. That's all I can say right now, the commercial is over.
  13. OK...I admit it...I'm an American Idol junkie. I don't know why or how I started watching it but have done so for about 3 years now and really enjoy it. Any other's here that watch it? I'll admit also that it does inspire me in some weird sort of way. I've mentioned before that I take my guitar with me when I travel. I can watch American Idol and it just makes me want to practice my guitar that much more. I pick it up and start strumming and picking and realize that I'm still terrible. That's OK though, I still enjoy it. I know that we have a few guitar players here. I posted sometime last year that I had picked up a new Seagull acoustic/electric. I tell you, the more I play this guitar the more I like it. Now I've got an urge to pick up a 12 string also. Stopped and looked at some today but haven't decided which one I want yet.
  14. The post that I was really referring to was kindly edited by the author. I did not ask him to do so but he did and it is sincerely appreciated.
  15. Got it but no address was included with the PayPal payment. Please email me your address. I just received notification that the patches are shipping to me today and that I should have them by Friday or next Monday. I will be getting them out to you who have ordered ASAP after I receive them. Thanks, Don
  16. I COULD hold them but my hands sweat sometimes. I think I ordered plenty and should have enough for now.
  17. I'm almost ready to delete this thread already. I will not allow it to turn into a political discussion.
  18. My heart truly hurts for Mark and his family. It is a terrible thing for anybody to have to endure but Mark has proven to be a fighter and I admire him so much for his courage and will to fight and win. I will continue to keep him in my prayers.
  19. I have had the Mic Mute for a couple of years now. It does a GREAT job but it is not designed to eliminate static and etc. It simply turns off your mics to get rid of any wind noise and etc. The fact that you are hearing static and/or engine noise has nothing to do with this product. It is fairly common on the RSV for the headsets to pick up engine noise. The Mic Mute circuit does has nothing to do with noise that you pick up in your speakers, it is just on the mic side. Most people who have experienced noise have found that slight rerouting of the cables where they pass near the coils under the left side of the gas tank will get rid of the problem. All I had to do was reach other there and just slightly move them to the side.
  20. Sometimes you just do things out of necessity. I have to get on the road tomorrow....gotta get back to WORK. Shouldn't get TOO messy...there is a gravel base under it. Although the gravel isn't looking so good for the past year or so. I think this spring will be time to rebuild the driveway.
  21. I know how you feel. I ran the wife's SUV over the driveway about 10,000 times I think. Finally got it pretty much packed down. Then I spent about an hour shoveling the Caravan out so that I could get it to the drive that I had packed down. I can now get it down the driveway also so I'm ready to go tomorrow. They are predicting more snow later in the week but I sure hope that changes.
  22. I think we ended up with about 20" of snow. It's a real mess right now. I did manage to get to the store this morning in the wife's SUV but there is no way that I'm getting out in my company Caravan. My brother in law came over yesterday and when he came in he told me that I was snowed in and no way would I get out. He said that I had about 3' deep ruts in the driveway. He was wrong, he made about 3' deep ruts in the YARD because he MISSED the driveway. I will have a lot of work to do when it warms up and dries up enough to do repairs. Hope it melts off soon.....I HAVE to get out of here and back on to work. Have I mentioned yet today that I HATE THIS WHITE STUFF.

    New Ride

GREAT....hope you bring it over and show it off on Maintenance Day.
  24. Very nice. Love the style and it goes well with the RSV.
  25. I used Pledge on my stock windshield for a long time and it never hurt it. I've used it on my Clearview for several years now and no damage to it either. You should be just fine.
