Marshall's site has been linked here many times. I think I even have an article and link from him in the tech library. No problem that I can see.

hmmm.....I'm actually a bit disappointed. I was looking forward to seeing the tattoo. I guess I will have to settle for spanking you.

I would have to see some supporting documentation to accept all of these "Facts".

I'm not going to say much more, I've already stated my opinion on this issue and there is no reason to do so again. I hate to see any further confusion though regarding other tires. As far as I know, it was never determined that Squidley's problem was due to tire failure. It may well have been damaged by something in the road. That can happen to any tire. Also, I may be wrong but I don't THINK he was pulling his trailer. I know that there have been problems with the Metzler tires but I know of no such problems with the Michelin and hate to see such information being spread around unless it has been confirmed that there is a problem. I've worn out two Michelin tires with no problems at all. Most of the miles were riding two up and pulling a trailer that is usually overloaded. If it does turn out to be a problem with that tire, one failure does NOT mean that they are all bad. I know of very few car tire brands that have never experienced a failure at one time or another.

Not a dumb question at all. Here is a write-up that explains it pretty well. Since the time it was posted, Diamond R has started making and selling them. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=492

I'm willing to participate. If you get enough without me, let the freebies go to the other members.

I agree...just loosen two of them and they should move. As for the notices, you shouldn't be getting them now. Let me know if it's still a problem.

Peggy, As has been said by others, I am truly happy that you and Ron have added your dream bike. It's always great when our friends dreams come true. You leaving this site would turn the dream into a nightmare for the rest of us though. I've said it many times, the bikes bring us here but the friendships keep us here. Don't you even TRY running off.

Ebay Saddle Bag Crash rails
Freebird replied to Stratcat's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
They sure look the same as OEM. If they aren't, I would sure like to know who is making them and what else they may be manufacturing. Since buying my RSV in '99, I've NEVER seen an aftermarket supplier of these. -
No reason not to do it if it's comfortable for you. For many folks, it causes pain between the shoulder blades but you will just have to try it. The only other thing is that you can't lower them TOO much with the stock bars without the grips hitting the gas tank if you turn too sharp.

Yep, I've had wing nuts on mine for about 3 or 4 years now. They have worked great for me.

Yes, a simple yes or no would have been too easy. It was a good question and nothing at all wrong with it. This is an open discussion forum though and when such a question is asked, it generates interest on both sides. Some for, some against, some wishing to learn. There is going to be discussion and there is no avoiding that fact. Nothing wrong with that. I actually think that it was a pretty good discussion and many people probably learned from it.

That would have been great but this was one of those trips where they had every minute of my day and evening scheduled with meetings, trade show, etc. Never any time at this one. Well....I seem to have brought a little of it home. 45 here this morning, that's much better than when I left.

Very interesting idea that would probably be very educational to a lot of folks. I've had mine off to reset the float heights and it took me forever to get them on and off. I'm SURE that it must be easier than I made it.

Really sorry to hear this news and see those pictures Buddy. Glad you are OK and hope that you get the bike fixed soon.

It was the camera falling off. If you go to the YouTube page and read the comments, he explains that. He did NOT go down on the bike.

I honestly don't know why everybody has gotten so emotional over this tire issue. I will not put a car tire on my bike. Even if I wanted to, I don't like the tread design on that particular tire and it appears to be about the only choice that is available (at least readily available) in the needed size. We are all adults here and if any of you wish to run a car tire on your bike, then you have every right to do so. I see nothing wrong with those who don't feel good about it expressing their fears. In fact, I would feel very bad if there were people here who felt that this was a dangerous practice and didn't care enough to say so. I have no intention at ALL of arguing with any of you who have heard the pros and cons, read the information available here and elsewhere and made up your minds to proceed with a car tire. I would not be happy at all though to see this happen with no discussion about any possible safety risks and people come here and just assume that it's an accepted practice and endorsed by myself, this site or everybody here. If your mind is made up that it's an OK practice, then so be it. If your mind is made up that it could be dangerous, then so be it again. Those whose minds are not made up though deserve to here both sides of the debate.

Who do you have your service with? Verizon is notorious for disabling the transfer of Ringtones. They want you to have to purchase them. There are usually ways around it though. I use a program called BitPim to transfer them to my Verizon phone.

First Self Performed Maintenance
Freebird replied to a topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Yep...show up at my house for maintenance day and we'll "git r done". OK...I realize that it may be a bit far for you. I'll bet there is a member somewhere close to you that has a Carbtune or mercury set though. If not, you should just buy one. It will pay for itself the first or second time you use it. -
The cost of the XM is the only thing that I really don't like about the 550. I move my satellite radio back and forth between the bike and my work car. I would not use the GPS in my car because I use my laptop with a GPS connected for the car. I just can't see paying for an additional subscription for the bike. I know that it works for many of you but just doesn't for me.

The only thing that I see missing is a carb sync. If it's never been done, it would be a good idea to check them. -
Got home from Orlando late last night. It was a long and tiring week and I'm glad it is over with. I really do NOT like trade shows and meetings but I have to do them from time to time. Trying to get caught up on all the posts and etc. I think I've replied to all emails and PMs now and am pretty much caught up. Now I've got to get ready to leave for SOMEWHERE tomorrow morning. Haven't even decided where I'm off to this week.

I keep seeing this but I've used a regular battery tender on mine for more than 4 years now and it works great. It will NOT charge one that is way low but mine will top it off if it's slightly low and will keep it fully charged. I've had no problems at all.

He used to be around quiet a bit. Lived in Germany. He sure seems to have dropped off the earth. Hope he is OK.
