RSV Mechanic near Aurora Illinois?
Freebird replied to Richb's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I can't really tell you a good place to buy the Harley lights. I bought mine so long ago that I don't even remember where I got them but I think I paid about $140.00 for them. Since then it seems that they have been in the $160.00 range. They do show up on Ebay from time to time so I would recommend that you do a search there. Installation is very simple. We can easily guide you through it if you want to do it yourself. Only takes a few minutes. -
I just changed it to give you those options. It MAY affect the server to the point that I have to undo the change but we'll give it a try. The possibility is that if too many people use the higher numbers, it could increase page load times and therefore the load on the server.

I think you'll find chrome or black plastic at Home Depot in the Misc. Hardware drawers in the bolt and fastener area. Just the push/snap in type. For the permanent ones on the trailer, just use a bit of clear silicon around the hole before snapping them in and they should seal the holes just fine.

I've never given it a lot of thought in regards to right or wrong. It's always just been a preference for me. I like riding the centerline. My wife HATES me riding the center line. I think that riding the line or the far right is OK but riding the middle of the lane has always been the most dangerous and not recommended. That is likely to be the slickest part of the road due to auto oil leaks and etc.

As I was headed back to my hotel today, I noticed a Midnight RSV sitting at the local Yamaha dealer just a few buildings down from my hotel. I stopped and me the owner. Very nice guy and he rides a 2003 Midnight. I gave him the information about our site and hope that he joins us soon. His wife rides also.

OK...scroll down on this page and you'll see what you are looking for I think. I don't know WHY I had such a hard time finding this again. I probably spent over two hours searching here and on the Internet in general. I think I'll add it to our links page this time. http://www.badgemaker2.com/web_store/web_store.cgi?page=mc_plates.html&category=yes&cart_id=

YIKES...they are pretty proud of that one. Protac also makes one that is similar. I actually prefer the Diamond R or the Utopia better than either of those though. Here's the ProTac. http://www.protac.net/photogal/yv1.htm

I'll be there around 7. If you guys are late...I'll just have a beer....or two...and wait.

Smarty pants.

Hey...I said anytime AFTER 6:30....I don't care how late it is. You folks pick the time and I'll be OK with it. Does everybody know where the Black Stallion is? I can get an address if you need me to.

You folks just set a time. Anything after 6:30 or so is fine for me.

How do I check the CB antenna location?
Freebird replied to Midrsv's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Just follow the cable from the bottom of the CB antenna. It should go into the black box under the trunk. -
I found them online before and actually posted a link here. Just did a quick search but haven't found it yet. I'll look again tonight because I know it's here somewhere.

Well I may end up letting the guy do it. He said he could actually do it the day before and I could just come pick it up or he could do it at my place that day. Doing it that day though would mean eating late. Roadkill, if we do it ourself, I will buy a pig ready to cook. I've already found a source for them. It will be butchered and cleaned already.

I have replaced one before. I removed the cover, it is stapled on, and replaced the stud with a bolt of the same size. Then just stapled the cover back on. Turned out fine.

I usually only get here a couple of times a year and it's always fly in and fly out. Never had time to ride out so far. Maybe someday.

I've never used them but did do some searching. The general consensus seems to be that they are just another gimmick. No improvements in power, fuel economy or anything else.

Nice color choice I think. I really like it. Hope it brings you miles of smiles.

I sure don't plan to be wearing short sleeves. I am cold here in the hotel room. Juggler, there is a good little restaurant just up the road between here and the Minneapolis. Closer to here though. It's right off 52. I think the name is the Black Stallion.

No...I'll just put out a donation jar like I did last year. Contributions will be appreciated but as always, not required. Thanks though.

By the way, if there is anybody coming who has roasted a pig and is willing to help out, I could probably arrange free room and board at my house so we can get an early start on Saturday morning.

OK folks...I'm thinking about doing a pig roast this year at my maintenance day. I just have to decide how to do it. I found a guy who will rent me just the trailer mounted roaster. I'm just worried about having time to roast a pig with all the other stuff I'm usually doing that day. The other option is that he will roast it the day before and I can just pick it up. It's a lot more expensive that way though. The other small detail is that I have never done one before. Anybody here with any pig roasting experience that will be there to lend a hand? I am thinking about a 125 pound pig (dressed weight) and understand that it will take maybe 10 hours. That means I would have to start it VERY early in the morning if we hope to eat by 3:00 or so.

Turn signal question
Freebird replied to Principal's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I'm not 100% sure. We were in Harrison, Arkansas a few years ago and my good friend Tom Anderson was having trouble with his new RSV. The engine would just die going around a corner. It turned out to be what they called a "Lean Sensor". The local dealer there had one shipped in and replaced it and the problem was solved. Now I just looked at the wiring diagram and don't see anything actually called a Lean Sensor. What I do see is something called an "emergency stop switch". It appears to be somewhere under the right/front of the gas tank. According to the diagnostics section of the service manual, you test it by connecting an ohm meter and then rotating the switch 50 degrees. That indicates to me that it does work as a "lean" sensor. It is supposed to go from 0 ohms to infinity when you rotate it the 50 degrees.
