How is the site working on this server? I've had no problems at all. Seems about as fast as we could hope for with all the modifications I am running. If it's still slow for you, then I have likely overdone some of the additions. Things like "who has read a thread", "who is browsing a thread", even our flags and etc. suck up a lot of server resources.

Orrin, I agree with much of what you said and it was Manheim that we used also. She said though that he is offering her Manheim for trade off STICKER PRICE. That is greedy dealer who is not trying to earn her business.

I know what you mean. It is frustrating. Some dealers will use Kelly Blue Book but then deduct for every little blemish they can find or make up. More dealers use the NADA book but by far, the majority use the real time auction info. When I worked for a Chevy dealer, we always looked them up on the auction site. It is a dealer only subscription service and you can see what a model with similar miles sold for that week. Very up to date. The problem with that is that you really don't know what those looked like. They give a basic rating but I've seen them vary widely. The other thing is, on a late model vehicle like yours, they are likely going to sell it on their used car lot and NOT take it to the auction. They try to buy at auction prices just in case they end up sitting on it too long and decide to move it via auction. I don't blame you. I wouldn't trade it unless I could find a dealer that is more hungry. Be prepared though because I've found that most use the same general rules. NO WAY though should they be offering you auction price and refusing to come off sticker on theirs.

What is "Surging" with regards to the tape desk?
Freebird replied to GigaWhiskey's topic in GPS, Audio, Electronics
No, that is not the same as surging. Your's is reversing. That is what happens when you get to the end of a tape and the tension triggers the auto-reverse. It very well could be a bad cassette adapter. I had that happen once when using a tape adapter for an XM radio. I went with a different adapter and it stopped happening. Otherwise, it is likely a weak spring in the deck. -
The LEDs should affect the trailer. There is not a lot to check. You have confirmed that colors are correct. You need to make very sure that you have good connections at your splice. It is very possible that you got a bad Modulite unit. Unfortunately, a lot of people have gotten faulty units. There seems to be a problem with their quality control.

Don't ever be sorry for letting me know about problems. I may not ever know otherwise. I want the site to work the best that it can.

Yea, but I like to change servers every week or so just to keep things fresh. Actually, it just wasn't working out and I decided to cut my losses and move on to something hopefully better.
-
WOW...you did a great job. Now I have to find time to work on mine.

What I mean by it not working is that if you click on the awards in the postbit or in the members list, it no longer takes you to that members award page. It just takes you to their profile where I don't see the award listed. I'll get it straightened out though.

Congrats to all. You should be very proud. Now she can get a job and support you when you and Jeff retire.

Yea...to get to it just click start...then run...type CMD in the field and hit OK. You will get a command prompt and that is where you will type in ipconfig/flushdns and then hit enter.

Hey Don, Default Theme has the vBulletin logo
Freebird replied to GigaWhiskey's topic in Watering Hole
Thanks...I had that enabled for some testing on the old server and forgot to turn it back off. I'll do it now. -
The buttons are linked to venturerider.org If you are coming here with the IP address of the new server, and venturerider.org still won't work for you, then there are two possibilities. Either it has still not propagated to your ISP service or you need to clear your browser's cache so that it flushes out the old info. A Small Orange was the company where the last server was hosted. I have canceled that account and that is why you see that page and not our site.

Classifieds is working fine from me. Some of the links will not work for folks until the propagation has completed. The awards are a different problem. That is a custom program that I installed for the old version of VBulletin. Unfortunately, it will have to be modified to work with the latest software. I'll get to it and thanks for letting me know. It will probably be a couple of days though.

If you have any problems, please clear your cookies and try that first. If the side menus won't turn on or off and etc...or other issues. It is possible that you have duplicate settings for the site due to the different IP address. So far, things look great on my end. Hope it continues. I'm fairly confident at this point that we are going to be OK now.
-
By the way, I have to say that from here, the performance of the server is much better.
-
It just propagated to me a few minutes ago so at least I know it is happening.
-
OK folks....many of the items in the blue menu bars are hardcoded back to venturerider.org so if you click on them, they will take you to the old server. If you are navigating the forum, use the links on the left BETWEEN the two menu bars. They will keep you here where you should be.
-
Please not that until the new IP address of the server is finished propagating, clicking on some of the links will take you back to the older server. If you click a link and see http://www.venturerider.org...whatever in the address bar, then you have been taken back to the inactive server. Hopefully it won't take too long for it to complete the propagation.

If you can read this, you are on the new server.
