  1. If anybody can get it even close to my house, I could get it on down to at LEAST Cincinnati, maybe even all the way to Indie if I need to. I have a trailer here so whomever gets it this far could take their trailer back with them.
  2. It takes about 10 minutes to CHECK them. Now if they are pulling the fairing, repacking the bearings, etc....then yes, that is very fair. I seriously doubt that is the case though. In my opinion, they shouldn't even be talking hours and payment. It is a 2007 model and is under warranty. They should figure out what is causing the problem before talking to you about what it might cost.

    It's over....

Just checking in and letting everybody know that Dylan and I arrived safely home around 2:00 PM. Heavy rain from Kitchener to the Peace Bridge but a pretty nice day after that. Thanks again for the great times and will post more later.

    It's over....

The Canadian crew put on a first class event. I can't think of anything that I could have done better or would have done differently. Location, food, everything was fantastic. My only regret is that it is over now. Dylan and I are still in Kitchener at the hotel. We'll be pulling out here in an hour or two. Of course after a week of perfect weather, it is thundering, lightening, raining right now so Dylan may get to experience the "weather" side of motorcycle touring.
  5. Yes, there were some on both sides of the issue deleted. Nothing of real sustenance, just personal attacks. No reason for it.
  6. This is interesting to me because this is the first time I've heard of anybody being able to obtain an "I" basket. The word until this was that it was ONLY available from Yamaha as a warranty replacement. Make sure you are actually getting an "I" basket and please let us know if you do get it.
  7. You guys have described all of this pretty well. I'll just add one thing. It was mentioned that they should be OK but every person that I know who has checked these floats have found them to be WAY off. I agree that they probably should not change but either they DO change or else Yamaha was very sloppy when they assembled them. Most people have found that no two are set the same height and MOST are very high. This is NOT a difficult job. A bit time consuming but some of you make it sound like an engine overhaul. I would say that anybody with a mediocre skill level and willing to just take their time can do this with no problem.
  8. I've replace mine with Firstick Fireflys. If you want something that looks more like the OEM though, you might check with http://www.sierra-mc.com They have several replacement styles. Just don't go to Yamaha for it...that are CRAZY when it comes to price.
  9. I would LOVE to see a Meet and Eat Jam session. I am in for that one.
  10. Yeppers...I'll have my Colortune and my Carbtune at the International Rally.
  11. I have edited the post under VentureRider merchandise to let you know that I am now completely out of the VentureRider guardian bells. I will order some more at such time where there is enough interest in them.
  12. I was actually just replying with a possible cause. I've never experienced this problem on my own bike. Above I've quoted what this member actually found on his bike.
  13. Sorry folks...but due to not being able to leave until Dylan goes to scout camp and needing to get back before he returns, we will not be there over a weekend.
  14. I have taken off work for the next two weeks. Dylan and I will be going to Kitchener for the Rally on Tuesday and will return on Friday. The following week, Eileen and I plan to get away for a week. We are thinking about just riding down to North Carolina for a few days. I'm thinking maybe the Lake Lure area. If so, I can get free hotel rooms in Black Mountain, Hendersonville, Ashville, Arden, Forest City or Marion. Now bearing in mind that we really like areas that are not too awfully crowded with traffic and etc., which would you recommend. I'm leaning towards Arden at this time but that is just a gut feeling. Also, any areas that would be BETTER than the Lake Lure area? I'm certainly open to suggestions. Wouldn't even mind going on to the coast but again there is the traffic and TOO MANY PEOPLE problem. We really aren't looking for exiting things to do or shopping but just nice riding, pretty scenery, a laid back time.
  15. The Motorcycle Riders Foundation (MRF) reports that a new web-based survey for motorcyclists has been launched by the Federal Highway Administration's Motorcycle Advisory Council (FHWA-MAC). The members of the FHWA MAC recently created the 2008 Motorcyclist Road Conditions Survey. The purpose of the survey is to help state and federal highway administrators better understand and plan for the needs of motorcycle riders. All riders are encouraged to take the survey before the deadline of August 1st 2008. The idea is to launch the survey during riding season when riders are most aware of current conditions and can more accurately respond to the survey. To take the ten minute survey before August 1st visit: www.surveymonkey.com/MACmembersHighwaySurvey Note: this is a busy site, so be patient if the survey does not work on the first try.
  16. I keep one in my work van and play it sometimes while driving down the road. Just have gotten some strange looks from folks. I'm not good but I do enjoy playing it at times. The one I keep in the van is a Suzuki.
  17. I've seen them lately in the mid 13s out the door. Look around and you can find some bargains.
  18. I agree with Redneck. Dyna3000 to up the revs and the VMAX rear. Probably the biggest bang for your buck. Mufflers and filters are overrated in my opinion when it comes to power increase.
  19. I sure hope that does it for you. I agree with you about the top of those carbs...they sure don't give much overlap. I've had my carbs off twice now and getting those boots to stay on at the top as you tighten the clamps is the most difficult part of the job for me when I re-install them.
  20. Man..I hate to hear that. I'm sorry now that I threw away the Bridgestone that I took off a few weeks ago. It had several thousand miles left on it but I just hated it. I'm about 2 hours or so South of you in Oberlin, OH. If you find somebody with the used tire, I would be happy to lend you a hand here putting it on. Sorry I can't do more.
  21. Skid, The FL3 "Firefly" is what I have used for years. It is a very good antenna, you won't find anything much better. I don't know what kind of price you are finding but here is one link. http://www.walcottcb.com/product_info.php?cPath=28_97&products_id=897
  22. Here is a good tech article on installing a tach. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=8810
  23. Sure wish we could have met you down there. We have company this weekend and are kind of stuck here at home. Still having a good time with an old friend and her 2 year old though. Also reaffirms that I DO NO want another 2 year old.
  24. I use Mobil 1 full synthetic. Don't remember the weight but I don't think they make but one. Seems like it was 75/90 or something but I'm not sure. I will continue to use it though.
  25. Very nice. I really like the trikes of all kinds. Not ready for one physically yet but will sure not hesitate when the time comes. I may even do it before there is a physical need simply because I like them so much. Look forward to seeing it in person someday. I've never ridden one and would like to find one at a dealer someday that will let me do so. I've ridden a Valk with the Voyager kit but wasn't impressed with the handling. It was a short ride though, maybe I just didn't give it a fair chance.
