  1. Sorry folks...but due to not being able to leave until Dylan goes to scout camp and needing to get back before he returns, we will not be there over a weekend.
  2. I have taken off work for the next two weeks. Dylan and I will be going to Kitchener for the Rally on Tuesday and will return on Friday. The following week, Eileen and I plan to get away for a week. We are thinking about just riding down to North Carolina for a few days. I'm thinking maybe the Lake Lure area. If so, I can get free hotel rooms in Black Mountain, Hendersonville, Ashville, Arden, Forest City or Marion. Now bearing in mind that we really like areas that are not too awfully crowded with traffic and etc., which would you recommend. I'm leaning towards Arden at this time but that is just a gut feeling. Also, any areas that would be BETTER than the Lake Lure area? I'm certainly open to suggestions. Wouldn't even mind going on to the coast but again there is the traffic and TOO MANY PEOPLE problem. We really aren't looking for exiting things to do or shopping but just nice riding, pretty scenery, a laid back time.
  3. The Motorcycle Riders Foundation (MRF) reports that a new web-based survey for motorcyclists has been launched by the Federal Highway Administration's Motorcycle Advisory Council (FHWA-MAC). The members of the FHWA MAC recently created the 2008 Motorcyclist Road Conditions Survey. The purpose of the survey is to help state and federal highway administrators better understand and plan for the needs of motorcycle riders. All riders are encouraged to take the survey before the deadline of August 1st 2008. The idea is to launch the survey during riding season when riders are most aware of current conditions and can more accurately respond to the survey. To take the ten minute survey before August 1st visit: www.surveymonkey.com/MACmembersHighwaySurvey Note: this is a busy site, so be patient if the survey does not work on the first try.
  4. I keep one in my work van and play it sometimes while driving down the road. Just have gotten some strange looks from folks. I'm not good but I do enjoy playing it at times. The one I keep in the van is a Suzuki.
  5. I've seen them lately in the mid 13s out the door. Look around and you can find some bargains.
  6. I agree with Redneck. Dyna3000 to up the revs and the VMAX rear. Probably the biggest bang for your buck. Mufflers and filters are overrated in my opinion when it comes to power increase.
  7. I sure hope that does it for you. I agree with you about the top of those carbs...they sure don't give much overlap. I've had my carbs off twice now and getting those boots to stay on at the top as you tighten the clamps is the most difficult part of the job for me when I re-install them.
  8. Man..I hate to hear that. I'm sorry now that I threw away the Bridgestone that I took off a few weeks ago. It had several thousand miles left on it but I just hated it. I'm about 2 hours or so South of you in Oberlin, OH. If you find somebody with the used tire, I would be happy to lend you a hand here putting it on. Sorry I can't do more.
  9. Skid, The FL3 "Firefly" is what I have used for years. It is a very good antenna, you won't find anything much better. I don't know what kind of price you are finding but here is one link. http://www.walcottcb.com/product_info.php?cPath=28_97&products_id=897
  10. Here is a good tech article on installing a tach. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=8810
  11. Sure wish we could have met you down there. We have company this weekend and are kind of stuck here at home. Still having a good time with an old friend and her 2 year old though. Also reaffirms that I DO NO want another 2 year old.
  12. I use Mobil 1 full synthetic. Don't remember the weight but I don't think they make but one. Seems like it was 75/90 or something but I'm not sure. I will continue to use it though.
  13. Very nice. I really like the trikes of all kinds. Not ready for one physically yet but will sure not hesitate when the time comes. I may even do it before there is a physical need simply because I like them so much. Look forward to seeing it in person someday. I've never ridden one and would like to find one at a dealer someday that will let me do so. I've ridden a Valk with the Voyager kit but wasn't impressed with the handling. It was a short ride though, maybe I just didn't give it a fair chance.
  14. OK....looks like I can answer my own question. It looks like you are NOT crossing over so that will be good. I will just come on over and meet up with you at the parking area on Mather Circle. I'll plan to be there no later than 11:00 a.m. I will have my cell phone with me, 440-225-0004.
  15. That sounds good except that is really no reason for me to go through customs only to turn right around and come through customs again. Does anybody know of a spot where we can wait for you on the USA side? Or...are you not crossing over to the USA side? If not, I'll just come on through and meet you there. Just give me a time and a place. We'll plan to be there. If something happens and we aren't there and waiting, you can go on without us and we'll see you somewhere later in the day.
  16. SOME parts...remember...I've seen your stash. You could build a couple of first gens from your "some parts".
  17. It's working correctly here also.
  18. I've never seen anything else.
  19. OK....now I have to add the standard disclaimer to every car tire thread. Please save me the trouble and just read the sticky on the Darksiders forum. Otherwise, every tire thread will turn into a debate.
  20. I am actualy pretty amazed at how similar the tread designs are on the Elite III and the Avon. I don't like mixing brands simply because it's an old habit of mine but I have done it and experienced no negative effects.
  21. LOL.....please understand that I was not offended by your previous comments, just added come clarification. I pretty much agree with that you wrote. The only thing I would add just as a word of caution is to check the load rating on any of those sport touring tires that you might consider. The Venture, first and second gen, are a lot heavier than most of those bikes.
  22. OK...in my ever so humble opinion and from all the reports that I've read here. I would recommend either the Michelin Commander or the Avon Venom.
  23. Sounds to me that if some or most of those new parts that you put on it were not damaged in the wreck, you would probably come out ahead to take the $2700 and keep the bike. It really depends upon how bad it is damaged and how many of the parts are usable. Did any of the plastic survive?
  24. That would be great if we could coordinate the time. Actually, I'll be on my '99 RSV Sport Cruiser.
  25. It has nothing to do with the 5 pin system on your Venture or RSTD. I thought you were looking for something for your wife's bike? If so, it is just a CB to be mounted on here bike and you will use the CB already present on your bike to communicate with her. If you are simply looking for bike to bike withoug the CB...like an Intercom...there is nothing that I know of that would integrate with the system on your Venture.
