  1. I don't know how far he is willing to travel but it seems that http://www.hondaeasttoledo.com/ has good prices. That is near Toledo, OH though.
  2. Yea, something is very perplexing about this one. I've seen bikes with carbs WAY out of sync but never bad enough that they wouldn't start. I think there is something more to this but I'm not sure what without being there.
  3. You better watch yourself there Mr. Goose. That comment about the boxers and pink hearts may offend the Muffinman.
  4. OOPS....did I say that out loud?
  5. There was actually a LONG thread about this somewhere. A lot of positive and negative opinions. Personally, I have one and love it. There was a time when just having your headlight on was enough. None of the cars at that time had daytime running lights so your light on made you stand out. Now with so many cars using the daytime running lights, just having a light on is no longer effective. I am convinced that the modulator helps get me noticed.
  6. That's pretty cool. I've actual done most of that myself. I mean...not with all those other bikes around ... just myself.
  7. OH...and I think you have put together an EXCELLENT team. I thank you for doing it and I thank all your committee for volunteering their time. Well....except maybe for that Rindercella person....you may have to remind her that just like the forums, the Rally is PG Rated.
  8. and THAT is what this organization is all about. The friendships. I love those kind of stories.
  9. WOW...I'm already getting excited about 2009. I've ridden that area a couple of times and the MTA had a rally in Harrison a few years ago that Eileen and I attended. I think everybody is going to have a really great time.
  10. Good deal. Glad it's working out for folks.
  11. Christo, Thanks for the report. It's fun to speculate about these things. One thing I can tell you for sure though after hearing these Yamaha "corporate" types yack at various events for about 10 years now is that their predictions are no better than any of ours. Yamaha keeps them so much in the dark that they are really better off not saying anything at all. Their comments about it being too expensive to detune the motor shows me even more that they don't know what they are talking about. It is VERY simple and cheap to detune an engine.
  12. OK folks...there were a LOT of great suggestions and I'm sure that we'll use many of them in future years but for the VentureRider International Rally 2009, the location will be SOMEWHERE in Northern Arkansas. The exact location will be determined over the next few days but it will be in the Mountain Home or Marble Falls area. I am even more pleased to announce that WPREDOCK has kindly agreed to head up the planning for the rally. Bill will start putting together a planning committee to help him with all the work that must be done between now and then. We are also looking at possibly moving it to a later time in the year. July can be pretty hot in Arkansas. Bill has suggested holding it in August but we have to be careful with the dates due to school starting in many parts of the USA and Canada. So when do the kids, teachers, etc. start back to school in your areas? That will help us decide upon a date.
  13. I certainly agree with you about the roads. I get mad all the time from all the pot holes and etc. BUT...there ARE some good ones if you know where to find them. I promise you that if we do a rally here, I will find some great roads for us to ride. uh...not saying you won't ride of some bad ones getting to the rally location though.
  14. I'm pretty sure that Works Performance makes one also.
  15. It's the same place it always was. Just scroll down on the forum home page and you should find it.
  16. Folks, I am not trying to keep anybody hanging about the location of next years rally, it's just that the decision has not been made yet. Dooder, your offer is much appreciated. I like that area but am not sure about actually doing it on your property due to the lack of local hotels and etc. I do think though that you are close enough to the Mountain Home area that we might consider that. I am still also considering the Eureka Springs area. Either way, if you wish to get involved and help out then that would be much appreciated. I plan to make a decision on this very soon and thank you all for your patience. I'll tell you all the truth, the more I thought about it the more I have decided that I want to do this in Ohio. There is some great riding here and some interesting places to visit. BUT...I don't want to do it for 2009 because it is so far to the North East and I want it more Central for '09. I may well do it in Ohio in 2010 though.
  17. I actually am working on a few things. How about a coffee dispenser in the Watering Hole? By the way..in case you missed it...mugs are ordered.
  18. OK folks, I am pleased to announce that the Motorcycle Superstore is now listed as a preferred vendor under the Vendor who offer us discounts topic area. All VentureRiders will now receive a 10% discount when shopping their store at http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com See the post in "Vendors who offer us discounts" for our discount code. Please do not share the code with non-members. I have also made the topic area "Vendors who offer us discounts" a member only area. This was at the request of a couple of the vendors who do offer us discounts. They want to ensure that people using our discounts are indeed Venturerider members. I think that is a fair request. This simply means that you must be logged in to see the messages in that area.
  19. OK...all Venturerider members will now receive a 10% discount when shopping at the Motorcycle Superstore. There is a special discount code which you will need to enter upon checkout. That code is posted in the "Vendors who offer discounts" topic area. Please note, that area is now "members only" so you must be a member and logged in to obtain the discount code. More on that in another post.
  20. LOL....I almost hate to admit it now but....I LIKE it.
  21. Have any of you ever used http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com ? We have an opportunity to add them as a supplier where our members would receive discounts. I would also have to provide a link back to them. I'm always looking for opportunities for our members but only if the company has a good reputation for service and prices. Any feedback would be appreciated. Don
  22. I sure can't explain why your experience with this tire is so different than most but my results so far have been much different. I can't attest to how many miles yet because I've only put maybe 3,000 miles on them. I can honestly say though that they stick like glue on wet roads. No problems at all. I was a little apprehensive after ordering them and then reading your reports but am glad to say that they have worked great for me. On my trip to Kitchener, I had the opportunity to test them on roads after a very light shower where they are normally VERY slick. No problems at all. Then outside of Buffalo where I made a very quick stop when a light went yellow on me. I probably should have just run it but decided to make the stop. Heavy brakes pulling a loaded trailer and no loss of traction at all. They have worked great. I am NOT afraid to voice my honest opinion and if my experiences mirrored yours, I would certainly say so but it's simply not the case.
  23. Yea, it is definitely on the outside. I can take a picture when I get home Thursday if anybody needs me to but it's easy to see. Just look at the rear underside of your trunk where the chrome bar supports it. There should be a rubber spacer.
  24. I don't know WHEN we will see a new Venture and I don't know if it will be second gen style or first gen style but there is absolutely NO doubt in my mind that it will be FI when we see it.
  25. In addition to the plates inside the trunk, the kit also included a rubber piece that fit on the outside rear bottom of the trunk between the chrome support rail and the bottom of the trunk. I had the dealer install it on my bike sometime late in '99.
