  1. I'm really glad to hear some good news. I understand about finding a good job when you get above that 50 year old mark. I went through that a few years ago and was lucky to find a company that actually prefers experienced folks. I am a bit tired of all the travel that I have to do but I think I'm pretty much stuck with it now. I have a good job with a great company and finding something as good without the travel at 53 years old would be very difficult. I am very happy for you and hope that it turns out to be a fantastic job for you.
  2. Brad, Thank you for posting this. I was just getting ready to do the same thing. A gentle reminder is a good thing from time to time. Also, a HUGE thanks to all our members who are honestly very good at self-moderation. You make our job here very easy.
  3. First let me say, this is NOT meant to be hitting anybody up for donations. While donations of any amount are always appreciated, they are not required in any way. The purpose of this post is to clear up any confusion about HOW you may donate if you so choose. There are a couple of ways you can donate to VentureRider.org. The money is used to help defray my costs of running this site. Software licensing fees, hosting fees, etc. The simplest and most basic way to donate is to click on the "Donate" button on the far right of the upper menu bar at the home page or here on the forum. When you click that button, you will get a page where you can enter whatever amount you choose to donate and then click the "PayPal Donate" button and it will take you to a PayPal login page where you can complete your transaction. You do not need a PayPal account to use this method. You will see a place to login to your PayPal account if you have one but if not, you will see a link to the left of that that says "Don't have a PayPal account" and if you click on that, you can still donate using any major credit card or an e-check. The second way you can donate is through "Subscriptions". You will find this method in the User CP or via the "donate" button in the right menu. In the User CP, just scroll down until you see the link for "Paid Subscriptions" in the left menu. Click on that and you will see several options from which to choose. There are recurring monthly options as low as $2.00 per month. The monthly subscriptions are automatically deducted from your credit card or account each month. There are also options for yearly subscriptions. These are NOT automatically recurring and you will simply get an email the following year reminding you that it has been a year. Again, this option uses PayPal as the payment processor. The third option is the old fashioned way. Simply send me a PM or an email if you wish to donate via a check or money order and I'll send you my address. Again, you are NOT required to donate in order to participate in this club. Those who donate and those who don't have the same full access to everything that we offer. I fully understand that money is tight for many people and I would NEVER want anybody to donate if they are not financially able to do so. For those who can, it is always MUCH appreciated but for those who can't, I consider your participation here a donation in itself and thank you for it.
  4. OK folks, I have repaired the "donate" button. Sorry about the inconvenience. You can now use it to donate any amount you choose. You can still use the User CP "subscriptions" if you want to donate and then receive a reminder after a year or if you wish to set up an automatically recurring monthly subscription. Thanks for your patience and thanks for letting me know that it was not working. Don

    Sunglasses

Sound nice but too expensive for me. I like nice stuff also but I'm just not good with sunglasses. I can't remember how many expensive pair I left above sun visors in rental cars.
  6. I blame it all on the people....all you people....when you all came together, something special happened. Heck...I'm not even menopausal.
  7. I'll stick with my feeling that you will see NO significant change for '09. Anybody in the mood to bet?
  8. Sorry guys, I didn't know it was broken. Will try to get it working in the next day or two.
  9. I have the lift adapter but other than that, I do it exactly the way Kent does. Just slide it under the bike and start jacking. The bike will come up straight and lay right over on the lift as it should. Easy one man job.
  10. I think it's a great looking bike and I've heard good things about the handling and etc. but also that it was a bit "buzzy". One thing that I've read though is that they have had some problems with rear engine seals that require the engine be removed to repair. Not sure how extensive or wide spread this problem was but enough that it got some attention. It is a great looking bike.
  11. Iowa Guy, I had the same problem. Placed the order and then about a week later got the email telling me that they didn't have the parts. I only need the small square covers that cover the screw on the side covers. Let me know if you get the parts this time. Don
  12. No, I don't know of anything that would prevent them in regards to blockers and etc. If you do have everything wired correctly, I would wonder about the impedance of the microphones that you are trying to use. Here is a link to the "pin out" diagrams. May be the same one that you got but just to be sure. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=499
  13. No, I'm sorry to say that it did not. Just too expensive for me to pursue.
  14. Also folks, please remember, the primary purpose of the Photobucket account is for pictures of our rallies and meets and eats. It is not really intended for personal pictures, our bikes, etc. That is really what the vBPicGallery is for.
  15. It's the valve springs that bother me also. That is why I have mine at 7500. Dyna recommends no higher than that...in fact...it may be 7250 that the recommend. They say to go no higher unless you install the VMAX springs. I think I'll just play it safe.
  16. Folks, Buddy Rich is working on cleaning up our Photobucket account because it has really gotten hard to find things. He is trying to organize it by years and then by events and then by contributor. We have also created an "Upload Here" folder. That is the folder that you will use to upload all your pictures. You can create your albums in that folder just as you do now but it will make it easier for us to them move then to the appropriate year and event to keep things better organized as we move forward. Just wanted to give you a heads up so that you would know what is going on if you go there. If you would also use the upload folder for your new albums that would be great. I'm looking at a way to disable uploading to the root and etc. without making it too difficult for everybody.
  17. I agree and would have said it pretty much the same way.
  18. I'm not crazy about the look, not really a fan of the tapered tips but I found some other pictures and it looks like they don't use those tips on the ones for the FLH and FLT models. Those should adapt easily to our RSV just as the Road Kings do. I found a short discussion here about them: http://www.v-twinforum.com/forums/v-twin-forum-general-harley-talk/89959-peacemaker-exhaust-tuning-experience-question.html I actually like the idea. I tried something similar with stock RSV mufflers back in '99 just after I bought mine but it was a manual modification and didn't sound good. I may actually try these someday when I have an extra $600.00 laying around.
  19. Are you talking about the passenger backrest or a rider's backrest? If you are looking for a rider's backrest, check out http://www.utpr.com
  20. That doesn't surprise me one little bit. So many people don't have a clue as to the facts behind many issues.
  21. Let's not turn this into a gun thread. We've had enough of those here and no more are needed. Enough already.
  22. One other thing, pull the gas tank and look at the top of the carbs. Make sure that the boots are seated properly on top. I had a similar problem and one of the things that I found was that the carbs were sucking air at the top due to the boots not being down on the top of the carbs. Also, do NOT overtighten them if that is the case. After much struggling trying to get them to stay on, I discovered that if you get the clamps too tight, it will force them off again. Otherwise, I would be looking or a possible bad coil.
  23. I spoke to my wife a few minutes ago and she told me that the VentureRider Guardian Bells have arrived. I will be getting them shipped either Friday or Saturday. Still plenty of extras for any of you who might want one or more. See the VentureRider Merchandise topic area for pictures and ordering info.
  24. It's yours. I'm out of town right now but will get it in the mail this weekend.
  25. I agree 100%. I'm sure that Metzler will claim that they were under inflated, over inflated, whatever. I know that running with improper inflation will shorten the life of the tire but we consistently hear about this issue with those tires and seldom, if EVER, hear about any other brands throwing chunks. There is no excuse for it, it has been going on for several years, and they should be taken off the market in my opinion. I ran Metzler ML2s on my Harley and loved those tires but I'll not be putting any on the RSV.
