  1. Only if you promise to bring that trike to one of our rallies. We want to see it. Same thing goes for you as I told Robert in the second post of this thread. You can't leave. We don't allow that around here.
  2. OK....I'll do it better this time. Here it is in my usual long winded style. Here is some information on the Firestik: All "FL" antennas are 100% American made with 100% American materials. To maintain a balance between flexibility and ruggedness, we use a custom blended, glass fiber reinforced tube. Each is wound with double insulated copper wire to prevent the oxidation and shorted windings often found on non-Firestik antennas. The tunable tip mechanism is made from rust-proof brass and has a rubber o-ring to hold the adjuster in place after tuning. Our 3/8"-24 threaded base will fit all Firestik mounts and accessories. Each antenna is covered with a static reducing, water-tight sleeve containing UV and pigment stabilizers. For peek performance we recommend that you use one of our Fire-Flex or RoadPal coaxial cables with these antennas. Here are the specs on the K40: ...specifications..... Universal Mounting Application Tunable Design Top Loaded Coil Frequency Range 26-30MHz Designed for CB and 10 Meter Radios 1/4-Wave Length Design Fits all 3/8" x 24 Threaded Mounts Chrome Plated Whip Adapter Mil-Spec Polyolefin Sheath Can be Used as a Single Antenna or Co-Phased for Dual Antennas And the Valor mount: Antenna Fold-Over The advantage of the 203EZ may not be immediately apparent. It was designed to provide an easy solution for dealing with an antenna while not in use, rather than removing the antenna from the base as a quick disconnect would require, the 203EZ will simply fold the antenna down into an easily managed horizontal position. Please remember, the antenna is not to be used while folded down, always make sure to place your antenna in the vertical upright position before transmitting a signal. Technical Specs: * (F) 3/8x24" thread on top, (M) 3/8x24" thread on bottom * Chromed Brass Construction * Durable Construction allows for use with fiberglass antennas up to 5 feet
  3. Yes, they are standard.
  4. Some people claim that a REALLY GOOD carb sync will prevent the backfiring without plugging the AIS. You might check that first. If you still want to plug it, see this thread. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=485
  5. I think that would be fun. Come up with a date and I'll try to make it. I've not been very lucky lately at making them though.
  6. I've never seen a studded Hopnel bib. I don't think they make them. There are some other, though more expensive, sources. Here is one choice. http://www.chilhowee.net/motorcycle-tank-bibs-main.html and here is one in Canada. http://saddlebagsbytalisman.com/index.php
  7. I'm not sure but you might check with: http://www.sierra-mc.com
  8. I'm glad that none of that applies to ME.
  9. I did the traffic school in Texas a few years ago...OK...I've actually done it a couple..or three times over the years to keep a ticket off my record. It ends up costing about the same but it keeps them off your record. In Texas you can actually do it online. At that time, I had to go to Blockbuster and rent the tapes and then go online to take the test after each section. They may have it completely online now.
  10. I have had several dealings with them. They are located in Ohio and I have stopped by their place to see it and meet them in person. Very nice people and ALL their parts are stored indoors out of the weather. I always recommend them. There is actually a link to their Ebay page on our home page here. I don't place those links to anybody that I don't support.
  11. What do you mean you'll be hanging around? Were you under the impression that it is YOUR CHOICE? Haven't you heard? You can check in here but you can't EVER check out. We'll come find you. Congrats on the new bike. I do hope that you find a site that you find helpful but don't hesitate to ask your questions here either. We don't mind at all and we do have several other members who have owned and some that currently own Wings. The bikes brought us all together, the friendships keep us together. You may be selling the Venture but you can't sell your friends.
  12. I've never heard that they could not be chromed. In fact, somebody...Baron's I think...used to sell them on an exchange basis.
  13. The foot massage idea doesn't work for me AT ALL. Sorry....I have a thing about that...cute feet...oil....hmmmm........... it's already getting out of hand for me. I think I will confine that to the privacy of our room.
  14. There was already a feature where you could exclude topic areas for New Posts and etc. but not to totally hide a forum. You can now do one or both. It's not a bad thing and shouldn't be taken as negative. It can really help clean up the home forum page and prevent having to scroll down so much if there are areas that you don't care about. For example, if you ride a first gen and never go to the second gen tech talk or vice versa, you can hide that one from the list. I like reading the posts in ALL areas but different folks belong here for different reasons. Some don't care for the chit chat at all and are strictly looking for technical info. They may wish to hide the jokes, ladies lair, motivational, whatever. It's just another way that you can all customize your VentureRider experience.
  15. If none of you have a Color Tune, I could mail mine to one of you to use. Let me know. It will be Friday before I could get it in the mail.
  16. OK folks...I had a request that members be allowed to hide certain topic areas from the list of forums. I THINK I finally have a custom modification that allows you to do that. In other words, lets say that you don't want the topic area "Jokes" to show up. You can hide that from the list of forums on the main forum page. To do so, just go to your UserCP and then click on "Edit Options" in the left menu. Scroll down and you should find a box where you can select topic areas to hide and then another box to exclude certain forums from "Get new Posts" and etc.
  17. You may notice that I have been doing some work on the menu bars at the top of the page. The lower menu bar was getting pretty crowded while the upper bar was almost empty so I've moved some things around. So...if you think something is missing, just look around a bit and you should find it. For example, the link to the chat room is now in the upper menu bar on the right side beside the donate button. Really...I just did it to keep you all confused.
  18. Seems that I'm always recommending them but they pretty much always have whatever is needed. Pinwall Cycle Salvage. Not always the cheapest but good to deal with and they have a LOT of parts. I know that they have some final drives and I've seen them priced between $139.00 and $189.00. Depending upon year, mileage, etc. http://stores.ebay.com/PinWall-Cycle-Parts-Inc
  19. You folks don't forget about Motorcycle Superstore. When you compare prices, remember that they give us a 10% discount. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=25266
  20. There are pictures here: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=17406
  21. I'm not familiar with the rear hub of the VStar but if it's the same as the Venture and the RSTD, I would still suspect the fingers in the hub. You said that it's a trusted dealer and that he greased the splines but are you and he talking about the same thing? The splines are on the drive shaft but the fingers are actually in the hub. They are very often overlooked and/or ignored by the dealers.
  22. I've been told that you can listen to the idle but my ears aren't that good. I use a Morgan Colortune. It is like a spark plug with a sightglass so that you can see the color of the spark. Most modern dealers would use an exhaust gas analyzer.
  23. You might check with Rick at Buckeye Performance. http://www.buckeyeperformance.com Be sure to tell him that you are a member here and you'll get a discount too.
  24. OK folks, I told you that I would get the bells shipped on Friday or Saturday but it was just a very busy weekend and I didn't get them out. They are now all packaged and addressed and I will be dropping them off at the Post Office early tomorrow morning on my way out of town. I still have about 60 bells left so there are plenty for any of you who might still want one or more.
  25. Here is a thread with some pictures. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=8061
