OK folks...just pulling a date out of thin air...I'm thinking May 30th for Freebird's Maintenance Day. Anybody know of any major conflicts. I'm not talking about PERSONAL conflicts..there will be those with somebody regardless of what day I pick.

It happens automatically. I don't remember for sure but I think if a post gets 20 replies or 200 views, it automatically turns red. Those numbers can be adjusted and probably should be higher since this board is so active but I've just never paid much attention to it.

Good points and I can't honestly disagree with you. That really hurts me too because I ENJOY disagreeing with you. From the responses so far, they will probably be going away.

Previous International Rallies have run Monday or Tuesday - Friday. Actually Thursday night has been the dinner and people were pulling out on Friday morning.

Yea...and with ice cream breaks for this bunch...we are talking MONTHS here. My wife and I did do a trip a few years ago. A little over 6,000 miles. We were gone for either 13 or 15 days, I don't remember for sure, but almost a week of that time was spent at the destination. So....I could see doing this trip in a couple of weeks if just doing it was all that mattered. Taking your time and enjoying it fully would require quite a bit longer of course.

That's right...just KISS up to 'em. See if I ever have YOUR back....

New motorcycle passenger bill introduced in Ontario ...
Freebird replied to a topic in Watering Hole
I knew that this thread would probably turn political. Now we are already going down the road of gun ownership, socialism, etc. Let's please not do that. -
Very interesting. I would love to do that but don't think I would have the time off. A quick mapping on Microsoft Streets puts it at about 7,230 miles from Miami to San Diego, to Seattle to Maine. A total of 9.239 miles if I route you back to the Dallas area. I would think you will need at least a week.

How so? and this is an honest question. I appreciate your feedback. The Social Groups ARE open to all, not hidden areas. I'm not saying that you aren't correct, just wondering upon what that opinion is based.

OK folks, some of you are aware that with one the upgrades a while back, a new feature called "Social Groups" was added. These are like little mini-forums that are not publicly displayed on the main site. They were very poorly implemented in my opinion. The biggest problem is that there is no way to be notified of new posts to a social group that you are a member of. If you don't check them on a regular basis, it is easy to forget about them. The other problem is that the discussions are not "threaded" as they are in the forum and that makes it hard to have any continuity on a particular subject. There is a new software upgrade that will be ready soon. It is in "beta" right now which means that it is being tested and any major bugs are being worked out. Some sites are already using it and it seems to be stable now but I'll wait a while before installing it. Upgrading the software here is a major pain as I have a lot of customizations that have to be re-applied when I do an upgrade. The REAL question I have is do we even WANT to continue with the social groups. I've had mixed feelings about them from the beginning. On one hand, it is a good place for folks with a common interest that really doesn't warrant a specific topic area in the main forum to exchange ideas, discussion, etc. One example is the "Biker's/Musicians" social forum. This site is not about musicians but we have a number of folks here who play guitar, banjo, drums...even tuba that enjoy talking about their music, gigs, etc. The social group is a great place for them to do that. On the other hand, I think that too many social groups can distract from the family atmosphere that we have here. If enough folks take their discussions to the social groups then the forum could become pretty slow. I prefer that most discussion take place here in the open so that we can all participate. So, those are my thoughts. What are yours?

LOL....I guess some folks are just color blind. Heck....there is SOMEBODY here who says that my bike is GREEN.
-
I think they show up if you click on any topic area and then scroll down. Not if you are already into a specific thread but just the topic area...such as "Watering Hole" and etc.

You will find out soon enough that a gallon is TOO much oil. I even use a longer filter than stock and a gallon would still overfill it by a good bit. When the bike in the perfect upright position, you should see the oil level about half way up in the site glass. If you fill it more than that, you are going to end up with oil in your air boxes. It's not a matter of if...only how soon.

I do like it but I don't wear that type belt. I would like to have one for my chaps but not sure about the brown buckle on my black chaps....hmmmmmmm

Problem with my Clairon CD layer
Freebird replied to a topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I would love to be able to help but just haven't run into that problem before. You said you checked all the fuses but are you sure? You do know that the Venture has two fuse boxes, one under the left side cover and one inside the right front lower cowling. I'm not sure where the CD gets it's power from. To be honest, most of us did away with the CD changers long ago and went with MP3 players and/or Satellite radio.- 5 replies

OH....I made the bighug smiley smaller too.
-
I replace the big head smiley with a small version. Unfortunately, it doesn't look so good after I made it so small. Oh well. If you are still seeing the HUGE one, you need to clear your browser cache.
-
hmmm....works fine from here. Maybe something to do with your browser settings? Try switching to Mellow Yellow and then hold the Ctl key while clicking "refresh" on your browser.
-
For what it's worth, I hate that huge one with the waving hands also. I'm thinking that it may go away very soon.

You can get studded or non-studded from: Diamond R Accessories http://www.diamondraccessories.com or Utopia Products http://www.utpr.com Diamond R is a great friend to our club.

hmmm....I can't explain that one. I have it hard coded into the program so it should be there all the time. UNLESS you are talking about on the home page or pages other than the forum. I only have it coded into the search drop down here at the forum. Hadn't thought about that before. I'll try to add it to the home page also.

I like them. Will be ordering a couple soon. Thanks for doing this.

Not only is it possible, it's been there for YEARS. When you look at the listing of posts, on the far left are envelope icons. If the envelope has an arrow on it, that indicates a thread that you have posted in.
