Hey...you did better than you had to. It is sincerely appreciated.

I've never know the fees to exceed the value. Stranger things have happened though.

I absolutely don't mind the feedback. Much of this site is the way it is due to member suggestions and feedback. Not everything is black and white however. I've inserted some remarks in your replies below.

Guys...I know it SOUNDS like an excellent idea on the surface but there are a lot of negatives that I have to consider. 1. No email notifications that your ad is about expire with an option to renew it. 2. No way to automatically expire the ads after a set amount of time. I would have to do it manually and without any way of knowing what has sold and what hasn't. Tried the forum method when I started this and it was a mess. Nobody ever bothers to remove something after it is sold. If I do it then people want to know why their ad was deleted. One headache after another. 3. No way to sell via auction if you wish to. Not a big deal because not THAT many people use it but some do. 4. No way to keep new ads at the top because people feel that they have to "bump" their particular item every friggin day. I could go on and on and I will listen to the pros and cons but I can tell you that it did NOT work out well.

new slip-on exhausts

Most likely they are using the ones for the Harley Road King. Any of the Harley touring mufflers will work with a simple fabricated bracket.- 30 replies

Where to get jets?
Freebird replied to Tartan Terror's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I seriously doubt that the jets are your problem...I sure may be wrong though. Even in the tech article at the very end...I think the author said that he ended up going back to stock. Since that is where I am already, I think I'll just stay there.- 4 replies

Ebay Carb. Diaphragm Replacement!
Freebird replied to skydoc_17's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Well...maybe it's time for somebody ELSE to grab the bull by the horns. I think that one of you good members who really need these things should take this and run with it. -
I don't mind and I want things to work the way YOU folks expect them to. Sometimes I can do that though and sometimes I'm just not smart enough. One thing that you CAN do...and I'll bet that MOST here don't know it. You can click on a category in the classifieds. "Second Generation Accessories" for example. Click on it after the page opens, scroll down to the bottom. On the left side is a link that says "Subscribe to Category". Click on that and you will get email notifications of any new ads posted in that category.

I will take a look but it's just not that easy to do. I would think that if somebody was actually needing something, they would certainly look in the classifieds but I do understand what you are saying. In regards to "OLD" ads, the maximum time is 90 days. Then the seller gets an email letting him know that he needs to renew the ad if he still has the item for sale. If the ad is not renewed, it is automatically purged from the system. Now there was a time when you could select "Never Expire" and there may be a couple that are there from before the time I did away with that option.

I'm not saying you are wrong about the two Gerber employees but don't see anything that proves it. I see two posts that had positive things to say about them. One of those is a new member who has only posted here one time and may have joined just to do so but though that might diminish the credibility of the post, it doesn't indicate that it was a Gerber employee. It appears here that most feel that Gerber could learn a few things in regards to customer service. There is little doubt that the 6500 members of VentureRider.org will think long and hard before spending any money on their products but let's try to stick with just the facts please.

In my opinion, the price on the tires isn't bad at all but the installation is nuts. I use a local Honda dealer here to mount my tires. I order them online and they install them for me (I take the wheels in) for $25.00 each. If you buy the tires from them, they install for free.

I've learned that if you're using Firefox 3+ you would have to use shift-alt-X where X is the access key.

Not that I know of. To be honest, I had never looked for them and nobody had ever asked.

Heck....after reading these posts...I think I want to move there too. Where is that power plant? I have close to 20 years power plant experience....it was a while back but I remember a few things.

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound like I was putting you down. I guess that if there was somebody that I truly wanted to have my business but pricing was an issue, I suppose it would make sense. for example, if for some reason I WANTED to give all my business to Roush (or anybody else) but found he was high, then yes, I suppose I could ask him to match the price. Since I have no particular reason to give them my business though, I see no reason to go to the trouble of asking them to match a price when I can simply click and order from a place that is already offering that price. The only time I would consider doing that would be if I really wanted to award them my business, for example, if they happened to be a supporter of our club.

There are a few. Seems to work OK with IE but not with Firefox. I haven't looked into why that is. I personally never use them. ALT-S Submit (Front-end and Control Panel) ALT-P Preview ALT-1 Forum Home ALT-2 New Posts ALT-3 Toggles Print View ALT-4 Search ALT-5 FAQ In addition the WYSIWYG editor inherits all the standard editing shortcut keys like CTRL-B for bold, CTRL-I for italic and so forth.

I seem to be the bearer of not so good news lately!
Freebird replied to sarges46's topic in Watering Hole
Really sorry to hear this news. Sounds like they got him to the hospital in good time though. Thanks so much for letting us know and we'll sure keep him in our prayers. Of course we would appreciate the updates. -
Gary, You know you are always welcome. That is your spot my friend.

No, I can promise you that the Michelin was NOT the original tire so there is no way of really knowing how many miles you got out of it. You know that it is at least around 11,000 and even that isn't terrible.

Lot's of threads here about tires. Do a search for tires and you'll be able to read for hours. Short answer though, most...but not everybody....here will recommend the Avon Venom. In my opinion, very close second would be the Michelin Commander. Dunlop Elite 3 also getting good reports but just not that many have tried it yet.

OK...I have to be careful how I say this or it's going to sound really bad. I have no problem setting up a can for St. Judes. BUT...I think we have to be careful because I worry sometimes that we ask our members too often to donate. We have some very generous folks here and I fear that some just don't know how to say "sorry, I would love to but money is a bit tight right now". I was talked last year..may have been the year before...into putting out a donation can to help with the food and etc. That has been a life saver for me as the cost of this little one day (yea right) gathering has grown to well over a thousand bucks by the time it's all done. With your generous donations, I have managed to pretty much break even on expenses and I sincerely appreciate that. So I'm a bit leary of putting out yet another donation can. Not saying we can't do it but if so, I want people to PLEASE understand that NOBODY IS WATCHING...it's up to YOU!
