  1. Yes, there are a lot of 2" and up gauges to pick from but the 1 1/2" are a bit harder to find. The Sunpro that I posted the link to are 1 1/2" though.
  2. Here is an excellent article submitted by V7Goose. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=19119

  4. Well, it's not Banff but this looks like a beautiful place to stay. I was just swapping emails with Mark, the owner, last night. He is offering VentureRiders a 10% discount off their posted rates. I would love to spend a week...or month...or so....here. http://www.canadiancountrycabins.com/ I'll be adding them to the "Vendors who offer us Discounts" section later today.
  5. I'll try again. I got them at: ADVANCE AUTO PARTS :rotfl::rotfl: I just looked at the receipt again, the price was actually $29.88.

  7. Well, I was inspired by this thread so picked up a set of 1 1/2" Sunpro gauges today at Advance Auto Parts. Maybe I'll get around to installing them over the weekend, we'll see. These were $29.99. http://www.sunpro.com/product_detail.php?pid=16496

  9. I could tell several stories but will just add this one for now. I was living in Duncanville, TX. I was riding the '86 Harely FXRD at the time. Needed to make a quick trip to the store one day so just slip on a pair of tennis shoes and headed out. I don't remember the name of the intersection but it was a major one with a LOT of traffic that time of the day. I pulled up to the redlight and waited until the very last minute to put my feet down. Yep...the shoe laces on my left shoe were wrapped around the shift lever. I fell over like Arti on the tricycle on the old Laugh In TV show. Big cool biker on a Harley.......I REFUSED to look at anybody in all the cars around me.
  10. I'm really jealous of you Kent. I need to take a good ride worse than anybody knows. Wish I was with you now. Be safe and keep up updated.
  11. I agree...even if I were not able to ride and got in only a few miles, I would not let the oil sit in there for that long. If you ride it at ALL...I would recommend at least two changes a year. One in the fall and another in the spring.
  12. I agree...I would avoid them at all costs. It's amazing to me how many dealers cannot work on these bikes. Syncing carbs is so simple and yet so many either way overcharge for it or don't know what they are doing or both. I've synced a lot of carbs at various maintenance days and etc. that had supposedly just been done at the dealer and were not even close. I firmly believe that if you ride one of these bikes, you should buy or borrow the tool and do it yourself.
  13. Well, I don't like it and wouldn't want it but am always impressed with the workmanship and creativity that goes into such things.
  14. WOW...I don't understand what you are complaining about. It can take up to 15 minutes. That's ONLY $1020.00 per hour. Now you got me thinking that I should start charging for this at Maintenance day.
  15. Well I've never played in the stock market but last night I had this strong desire to buy some stock in Citigroup. Don't ask me where it came from and for SURE don't take my advice on ANY investment (except in VentureRider.org ) Anyway, I started setting up a Scottrade account but got to the point where they asked how I wanted to fund the account and I had no way of doing so from this hotel room. So...I just decided to forget about it. The price was $1.03 per share. This morning it went up to over $1.40 per share. That would have been a tidy profit. I am certainly no financial genius but I just think there are some good opportunities right now. I think there is still money to be made in Citibank but it's going to be slow. There are some others that I think are bargains right now also.
  16. I've looked at Scottrade and Etrade. I also ran across TradeKing. They look to be cheaper and have some pretty good endorsements. http://www.tradeking.com/
  17. Here are some interesting statistics for motorcycle production and sales. http://www.webbikeworld.com/Motorcycle-news/statistics/motorcycle-sales-statistics.htm
  18. HEY....if you get all mushy I'm gonna disable these things.
  19. I'm just curious if any of you use an online service such as ETrade, Scottrade, etc. to buy and sell stocks? I know that times are bad right now but I also think it's a GREAT time to make some money in the stock market if you invest wisely. I've never used an online service but there are a couple of stocks that I am intersted in right now.
  20. Yes, that has happened a couple of times but it's not necessary. There is a link you can click if you forget your password and it will send a new temp password to your email address.
  21. Yes, that is exactly what causes it. If somebody changes their email address, I get a message about a new member. Just a little glitch that I've just never felt was a big enough deal to figure out.
  22. Wish I could help but though I've heard of them, I've not known anybody who wears them.
  23. OK folks, I've added a couple of new features to the forum. Some of you may find them helpful. There was a request for a place to view the most popular threads over the past 7 days or so. If you are away from the site for a few days and want to see the most popular of what you have missed, there is now a way to do it. If you scroll to the bottom of the forum home page, there is a new section that shows the "Hottest" threads. If you click on the drop down menu that says "View More" in that section, you will get a more complete list. I have also added a new feature to the search menu. You will find a link there that will bring up your latest posts and/or threads that you started. This will make it easier to find a question that you have posted and/or a post that you have added. That's about it for me today. I'm at another hotel and the Internet service is awful. I will check out of here tomorrow morning and try to find one with better Internet.
  24. OK...I know it is not exactly what you requested but I've added some "Advanced Stats" at the bottom of the main forum page. It shows the "hottest" threads over the past 7 days as well as the latest posts and newest members. Hopefully the "Hottest Threads" section will help.
  25. Unfortunately, most of us had not had the pleasure of getting to know Paul yet. He was a new member having joined in January. He and member John Brendel both bought Ventures this winter and both joined our family in January. I am sad to report that Paul has recently passed away due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. This is the email that I received from John. Please keep the friends and family of Paul Polzin in your prayers. The email that I received from John:
