Folks, I get a number of emails from people who have forgotten their passwords, did not receive the confirmation email when they registered, have questions about how to post, etc. I still plan to answer those questions for the most part but over the next few weeks there will be times when I am simply not available to do so. At the bottom of the main forum page, in the blue bar, there is a link that says "Forum Leaders". If you click on that link you will get a list of the moderators here any of which should be able to help you. If one of them does not know the answer to your question, he will get with the others and try to come up with an answer...if that doesn't work...they will make something up. So over the next few weeks, if you contact me and do not get an answer in a reasonable amount of time, you might try contacting one of them. I am placing the link here also. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showgroups.php

Folks...I've read through all these posts and even added a couple of light hearted responses myself but I honestly think we, as a group, have been a bit hard on Peg's husband. We don't know the guy and he may be a wonderful person. Many of us here feel strongly about the bikes that we own and ride. If a friend or neighbor were to ask us for a recommendation, most of us would suggest that they try out a RSV, RSTD, or Venture. It's just sort of a natural thing for us to recommend the bike that we all enjoy so much. If my wife were to want a new bike, I would likely take her to the Yamaha dealer to look at the VStars and other Yamaha models. If I owned and was riding a Harley though, I would probably take her to the Harley dealership to check out the bikes there. It's just sort of a natural thing to do. The fact is, most of us here don't care what make or model bike a person rides. Peg's husband would be more than welcome to join us at any of our events and I am extending an invitation right now for him to join Peg for my Maintenance Day on June 6th. I know that the issue here is NOT that he rides a Harley but that he seems to be pressuring her to ride one also. If it is because he is embarassed about her being on a Yamaha in front of his friends, then I agree that he needs to get his priorities in order. It may just as well be that he just happens to love the Harley motorcycles and wants Peg to have what he thinks would bring her more joy. We really don't know his reasons and so really shouldn't be judging him at this point. I will say that, in my opinion, the Sporty is not near the bike that the VStar is. If my wife wanted a Harley, I would be suggesting one of the Dyna series...perhaps the Dyna Lowrider. Very nice bike and one that she would better handle because it has a low seat height. Oh well....enough said for now. I'm personally not hung up on brands. I just love motorcycles. Harley, Honda, Yamaha, Triumph.....whatever. Doesn't matter to me. If I was a rich man, I would likely have several brands in my garage and one of the first additions would be a Harley of one model or another. I love the sound, the classic look, the fit and finish. Few companies do chrome and paint as well as Harley does and though the VTwin engine would be very dated by some, Harley has many features that surpass those on our RSVs. Fuel injection, anti-lock Brembo brakes, available factory security systems, much better audio system, etc. They have stayed with their VTwin engine because they LISTEN to their customers and that is what their customers love. As much as I love my RSV, can any of you point to anything that Yamaha has changed over the past 10 years due to the input that we have given them? So Peg, I hope that your husband keeps an open mind and allows you to be your own person and respects your choices to ride whatever puts the biggest smile on your face but when the final chapter of this story is written, please know that you will always be welcome here. Some of these responses would scare off a person who chooses a Harley as their preferred ride but that is not the intention here. The repsonses have been intended to show support for you and your right to make up your own mind but many come across as Harley bashing. If your husband happens to read these posts, please let him know that he is welcome here and at my home for Maintenance Day. I hope that you can make it whether he chooses to join you or not.

Not true. Part of the bogus email claimed that it was reported on Fox News, CNN, etc. depending upon which bogus email you may have received. It was just part of the email to make it seem more believable. It does NOT mean that they actually reported it. I will continue to watch Fox News thank you.

Just a heads up here folks. As you can imagine, there is a LOT going on in my life right now and it's only going to get worse over the next few weeks and possibly months. Since starting this club about 4 1/2 years ago, I've had it set up to where every post made here comes to me by email. I do this so that I can keep up with things, reply to posts that require or request my reply, watch for any threads that get out of hand for one reason or the other. What this means is that I read every post made here and that is usually hundreds per day in my email box. I'm afraid that I may have to disable this feature for a while. I will continue it through the following week before heading to Boston but will probably have to turn it off before I leave. There will be days when I just won't be able to keep up with the posts here and that will mean thousands of emails to go through when I get the opportunity to do so. Now the main way this affects you is that there are often posts where people will say "I'm sure Freebird will see this and respond"...or "I think Freebird did that"....etc. I very well may not see those posts so if there is something that truly requires my attention and/or input, please do not just assume that I will see the post. Either send me a PM or an Email and I'll respond to it as soon as I can. Thanks in advance for your understanding and if you don't get immediate responses to your PMs or Emails, please understand that I will be doing the best that I can.

Folks, I will be the last to throw cold water on this idea but there ARE things that need to be considered. This is something that somebody would have to manage. Every time I've heard of rewards being offered for such things, folks come out of the woodwork claiming to know this and that just in an attempt to collect the money. Somebody is going to have to sort through any leads, provide the leads to law enforcement, find out if law enforcement thinks it's a good idea or if it will just bury them with fake leads, etc. Of course Eck would need to desire this also. As for using the donation button, I'm sorry folks but with all that is going on in my house right now, I just don't have room on my plate to take it on. Somebody else will need to do the collecting and manage the account. If all these concerns are ironed out though, I will gladly contribute to the fund.

LOL...you are right. I corrected it. Thanks.

Go for it. I have no problem as long as it's for personal use and you are not going to be selling them on Ebay.

I would recommend that you start with about 35 in the rear and 0-3 in the front. You will need a progressive manual pump for the front...for the rear too actually. Do NOT try to use a regular air compressor, the volume is VERY low and you could easily blow the seals. -
Go to UserCP and choose "Edit Favorite Smilies" from the menu on the left. Then you can just select the ones that you want to show up.
-
OK....here's what it looks like has happened. First of all, when you right click on the menu bar, you should be able to deselect the "Favorites" bar to get rid of all of those. If you wish to keep them, then right click on any one of those tiny icons and then choose "Customize Title Widths". You will see that the choices are "Long Titles", "Short Titles", "Icons Only". You can choose to add the titles to them if you wish. I personally have the favorites bar turned off and just use the drop down menu for my favorites. Actually, I don't even USE IE8 but if I did, I would have it turned off. You have a LOT of favorites added to the bar. Don't know why or how you added so many because I think you have to add each one manually. When you save a page to your favorites, you have a choice of adding them to your favorites menu or to the favorites bar. You've added a LOT of them to the bar. To get rid of them, you have to right click and choose "delete". Don

I've just never pursued it. Which insurance company was it and I'll see what I can do.

Heck...I missed the subtext too. I KNEW it had to be a joke though. Those two are soul mates. I'm not even sure that they aren't physically connected somewhere.
-
WHAT? Now there has to be more to this story. I'm hoping that this is some kind of joke. You two seemed so perfect together. So.....please don't leave us hanging here. Some things are NOT meant to be joked about.
-
Let me check with my wife...maybe you can move in with us. on second thought.....maybe I should leave it alone.

Symantec does know about it and if you use Symantec, you are already protected against it. I figure most other virus protection programs have you covered also. It's those that are not practicing safe computing who would be in trouble. http://www.symantec.com/norton/theme.jsp?themeid=conficker_worm Note: The article also points out that if your Windows is up to date, you are also protected.

A LOT of people have had that problem. Many have been replaced under warranty. Mine cracked a couple of years after the warranty ran out. I just used some JB Weld on the inside to repair it. Always seems to be the left side too.

Don't get discouraged. If they turn out nice and you post a picture I'm sure there will be more interest than you think.
-
Trying again. If it works, here is an attachment of what I see when I right click on the menu bar of IE8.
-
Well heck, I did a screen shot to show you what I see but this awful internet connection at the hotel is not letting me upload files. I'll post it later when I have a better connection.

Folks, there is a picture and dimensions in the VentureRider Merchandise section here: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1486

IE8 is pretty much the same way. Just right click on the menu bar and then select customize. It will give you options of large icons, icons with text, etc.
