  1. Sure, if you don't mind. I'll PM you my address.
  2. OK folks, the guy told me that the fuel gauge was out on the '89 but I just figured I would find a bad fuse or something. Actually, the entire computerized monitor is dead. NOTHING is working on it. Fuel gauge, warning indicators, even the clock below. I pulled it out last night and we resoldered all the pins on where the connectors plug in but still nothing at all. I then checked for power and according to the wiring diagram, the black wire is ground and I think it was red that was hot. Anyway, it is getting power when you turn on the key but nothing is working. Does anybody have a spare for sale or even that I could use to make sure that it's the monitor itself that is bad. Unless some of you have other ideas, I've about determined that the actual monitor is bad.
  3. Well believe it or not, it really wasn't the performance but the fuel mileage. I went from near 40 MPH to down around 32 MPG. Driving normal, it ran fine. I did find though that when I hammered it, it just didn't have the power that it did before.

I think you have done a wonderful thing and I hope a lot of money is raised through your generous donation.
  5. You are not the first to break those tabs. Here is any easy fix. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=516
  6. OK...about the power. I don't know what to say really...this bike is smooth and FAST. I've owned an '83 and an '88 and they both ran good but nothing like this bike. It will literally set you back against the backrest when you hammer that throttle. I hate to admit it folks for for a very brief second.....I actually had thoughts of selling the RSV and keeping it. Even mentioned it to my wife. This thing accelerated like a crotch rocket. It is pretty much a touring bike on steroids. It also has what I think is a SuperBrace, Rivco spin on oil filter adapter....most of the things that many people look for on the first gens.
  7. Well....there is good news and bad news. The good news is that I think the bike is sold. The bad news is that my brother in law is probably buying it and I will sell it to him for what I paid for it. So much for trying to make a little profit. He will be joining the club here though. I pulled the top cover and one of the side panels off. Whoever did the VMAX conversion seemed to do a very professional job. I also see now that it has 4 individual K&N filters under the top cover. There is a toggle switch on the dash beside the class system that I'm not sure what does. I wonder if it has anything to do with the VBOOST but I have no idea at this point. I guess I'll have to trace the wires and try to figure it out.
  8. OK folks...just pulled into the driveway with it. Eileen dropped me off and I may have taken a bit of a long way home. I tell you folks, this bike runs strong and handles very well. No wobble of any kind when I took my hands off the bars. I'm not sure what kind of mufflers these are but they sound GREAT. Not obnoxiously loud but a very nice growl. I've never ridden a VMax but this one is supposed to have VMax cams in it and though it idles very good, there is a bit of a lope that I've not heard on stock Ventures. Maybe somebody more familiar with the VMax can tell me if that is normal. Anyway, here are some pics.
  9. I know that Sierra lists a bluetooth adapter that I think does what you are asking but I haven't ever used one. You might give them a call. They can tell you exactly what it does and if it will work for you. They are great people. http://www.sierra-mc.com
  10. I'll take some pictures when I get it home later today.
  11. OK folks, today I went to look at an '89 Venture. I didn't expect it to be very nice but I was pleasantly surprised. It is an '89 with 44,000 miles. It has some extras like Markland Highway Boards, Nearly new Metzler Commander tires, Drivers backrest, Chrome belly spoiler, etc. It is actually an extremely clean bike. Then I got to looking at it and talking to the owner and discovered that it has been converted to an SS model. That means that it has VMax cams, VBoost, etc. Now I can't afford to keep it but felt that I could make some profit on it so I bought it. I will be picking it up tomorrow morning and will take some pictures and put it here in the classifieds for about a week before it goes on Ebay. I'm going to ask $3750.00 for it here if anybody is interested. I did test the radio, class suspension, etc. and everything seems to work as it should.
  12. I just put those there to confuse you. Actually, on the home page there are modules for journals and articles that can be added but it's one of those things that I have just never started doing. I may or may not ever do so. I guess I need to look at removing those menu items that you are talking about.
  13. There is a picture of them posted in the VentureRider Merchandise section. Here is a link. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1486
  14. Yea...sorry about that. I wish you lived closer so that you could stop by. We would figure it out. Have you removed the seat and checked the connection under it? There is a black connector under the seat that has been know to come unplugged.
  15. Yes, they do.
  16. Actually, the intercom should work regardless of the stereo being on HS or SP. At least mine does. I use the external speakers most of the time but we still talk on the intercom.
  17. hmmmm...I wonder if Crash had installed the Mic-Mute on it. I can't remember. The Mic-Mute is a device that deactivates the microphones to decrease the wind noise when you aren't using them. If it is installed, you toggle the mics on and off by briefly pushing the CB push to talk switch. Just depress the push to talk switch quickly...less that 3 seconds I think it is to toggle them on and then you do the same thing to toggle them back off. It's a long shot...I don't know if he had installed one or not.

  19. I don't think so, I think I had a setting wrong in the server setup.
  20. On the control pod, push the "Select" button until IC comes up on the display. Then use the rocker switch to turn the IC volume up to about 15. Make sure the rear volume control, on the left rear speaker pod, is turned up. Then just speak into the microphones, do NOT use the push to talk switch, that is only for the CB.
  21. Congrats to him and I'm envious. I took lessons about 20 years ago but never finished. It was much less expensive then but I had problems with an instructor who didn't bother to show up about half the time and I got frustrated and quit. Too expensive for me now but I sure wish I had finished.
  22. OK...but you still don't press the switch to use the Intercom. That is only for talking on the CB. To use the Intercom, just talk, the mic is always hot.
  23. Josh, What year is your bike? If it's a second gen ('99-present), you don't click anything to use the intercom. The push to talk button is only for the CB. Intercom is always hot. Make sure the volume is turned up on the rear and make sure the IC volume is turned up in the controller. I run mine on about 15. Don
  24. Man...I just HATE logical answers. I wish they offered it in a shorter version.
