  1. I SELDOM ever use them but have heard no reports from anybody else at this time.
  2. I agree. I think that they are beautiful bukes but I've not heard a lot of good about them on the road. May be worth some money one of these days though.
  3. hmmmmm.....there must be folks out there having a lot more problems filling up that I do. HEY....maybe I should order a couple thousand of them with the VR LOGO. OK...WHO'S IN....who's WITH ME on this?
  4. Pretty cool Rick. Wish I could have been there with you. I don't see any sparks though....we will need for you to do it again at night so that we can see the sparks.
  5. Yes, it has 4 individual K&Ns. I'll try to take some pictures before AdVenturer picks it up.
  6. I've had my Avons for about a year now and really do like them. I've seen WAY too many reports about them cracking lately though. Looks like I will be trying the Dunlop Elite 3 next time or else going back to Michelin Commanders.
  7. Most folks here do NOT recommend Metzeler tires at all. There have been MANY instances of them coming apart. The most recommended tires here are Avon, Michelin and Dunlop Elite 3. As for the bias ply tires, that is what came on this bike and is recommended by Yamaha. I'm not sure how a radial would affect the handling since they are not set up for radial tires. Plus, I don't know that I've seen any of the recommended tires in the sizes that we use in radial tires.
  8. I would suspect that somewhere on the trailer is something like a "back off" module. It is an aftermarket device that causes the the lights to flash. It may have very well gone bad. I can't think of anything else, in the way of bad connections, that would cause that behavior.
  9. Sorry...I think we are on different pages here. I wasn't talking about the color, the original poster was looking for something more like the stock cables because he is trying to keep the cost down. So what I meant was that I don't know of any stock type cables in longer lengths unless you can find some off another bike model that will work.
  10. Thanks for the suggestions but we'll be OK. I hate setting a price per head. Everybody is welcome and everybody is welcome to eat. If there are those who aren't able to pay, that is fine. If somebody is just too tight to pay, that is fine too.
  11. Folks...I appreciate the thought. Mini...you are the best. You better tell Jeff to watch out while he's gone...somebody will steal you away from him. BUT....please don't worry about it. The food is already ordered. I just have to tell them the final count so again I'm asking everybody to go to the calendar and RSVP. It's really no problem because we are going to do it the way we did last year. Have it DELIVERED. I THINK it was pretty good. The donation can worked out just fine and the dollars were very close. So this is really an easy way to do it.
  12. Rick's are stainless steel also though. I don't know of anybody who makes the longer cables in anything but stainless.
  13. It doesn't always work but I've seen several instances where it was just a matter of very slightly moving the wires. Under the left side of the gas tank, the wires from the audio run very close to the front coil. I've just slightly pulled them to the side and completely done away with the static/clicking sound.
  14. I agree with the ignition switch as the probably cause. I would also check the side stand switch. One other thing but I don't know if that bike had them or not. The '99 and newer RSV has a "lean angle" switch. A good friend had a brand new 2000 RSV with a bad lean angle switch and his bike was asking just like that.
  15. Sorry Gary...just saw your post and I'm already back home now.
  16. Guys, see this thread. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=35281&highlight=manuals
  17. Don't worry Dan...it is sold again. The proud new owner will be AdVenturer.
  18. I misunderstood. I thought you were asking WHERE to order a new system. If you have already replace it with a new one, then that shouldn't be the problem. Are you familiar with how it works? The class system only works with the key in the ACC position. You should not be getting the error code on a new system though.
  19. Very common. Take a look at this thread. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=493
  20. Yep....here is what they look like. This is an '86 model.
  21. I think the last time I used Honda Pre-Mixed just because I had some handy.
  22. Yes, that is not too far from me. Send a PM with all the info and I'll check it out for you. Don
  23. Does it do anything at all? When the key is on, does he get lights, dash, etc.? Does it try to turn over but just not start or just does nothing at all? There are a few things that could cause this. There is a relay just behind the engine under the center cover that went out on Sleeperhawks bike at Maintenance day a couple of years ago. Could also be the side stand switch. More details MIGHT help....not sure though.
  24. Yes, I'll be around. Just give me a call or PM and let me know what day.
  25. Well, my brother in law slept on it last night and decided that he just doesn't need to buy a motorcycle right now. So this one will still be available. I've got to replace or repair the computerized monitor but otherwise, I haven't found anything wrong with it. I did find that it has a VMAX rear in it also.
