  1. Renault LeCar? I HOPE you are kidding. The very worse car I have ever owned was a Renault 18i Sport Wagon. It literally caught on fire 3 times.
  2. Works for me, I would be happy to add it to the home page. What about it folks? Let's hear your suggestions.
  3. I agree completely. As most of you know, I travel quite a lot so I eat out a lot also. Anytime I'm in a restaurant and see military personnel, I just quietly tell the waitress to add their meal to my bill. I figure it's the very least that I can do for them.
  4. Harley has made a lot of nice changes over the past few years. Some major but not so noticeable changes on the '09 models. I like the color of yours also but my favorite was the solid pearl white that the had in '08. Doesn't matter though, I won't be buying one anytime soon. Hope it brings you many miles of smiles. That's what it's all about regardless of the brand.
  5. Good deal. Glad you had a nice ride home and that the bike ran good. I think it will be a good bike for you for a LONG time. Sure sounded good as you were heading down the driveway.
  6. All you need to bring is what you will use on your bike. Oil, filters, etc. Also, I may have a little beer on hand but I really don't supply the beer so if you want any, feel free to bring it. Just a note for all though and most already know this....there is not a LOT of drinking that goes on during these things. We make try to take a ride later in the day and drinking and riding just don't seem to go hand in hand.
  7. I have no idea about the carb drain tubes. It's been a long time since I owned a first gen and don't remember if my '88 had those or not.
  8. I saw the hose...probably close to 1" diameter. I figured it was for an engine breather but couldn't tell where it went exactly.
  9. Oh...and the '89 will be headed to it's new home in Buffalo, NY later today. I wish I could have put a few miles on it but it just sold before I could do so. It really is a sweet running bike.
  10. Jason, Yes, it has VMAX cams and valve springs. I have not ridden it hard and certainly nowhere near the 9,000 RPM range. In fact, the only time I rode it was when the day that I bought it and rode it home. Once it was sold and I had a deposit on it, I didn't feel that I had the right to ride it any longer. Now from what I can tell, and I don't know much about the VBoost system, there is no servo on it so the VBoost is open all the time. I talked to my good friend Rick Butler in Texas about this. Rick built a Venture SS several years ago and told me that he did not use the servo and the VBoost was active all the time on his also. I then did some research online and found that even a lot fo VMAX riders remove or disable the servo so that the VBoost is active at all times. That appears to be the case with this one from what I can tell. It also explains why is has such a lope at idle. It sure sounds good though. I tried to take some pictures but it is kind of hard to get them. Here they are though.
  11. Very nice Ron. She looks MUCH better than the pictures that Silvrt posted.
  12. You just aren't right.
  13. I've seen them demonstrated at a couple of bike shows and they worked really slick.
  14. Well.....I can't really comment on any of this without seeing some pictures first. Of the redhead I mean.
  15. It is easily adjustable most of the time. Just loosen the jamb nut where the cable enters the throttle grip and tighten the knurled nut a bit.
  16. You might try this place. I think they have the colors for the '86. http://www.cyclecolor.com/id3.htm
  17. It really depends upon what you expect out of the headsets. If you are looking for something primarily for communication (cb and intercom) then the ones listed above will do just fine and Sierra is a great company to deal with. If you are looking for something with good fidelity for listing to music, you really need to pay more money. In my honest opinion, Edsets are about the best you can do. You will pay close to $200.00 per set for them though. The site is http://www.edsets.com You will have to register there to place an order. Register as a VentureRider member for a 7% discount. Discount ends in August though. Don
  18. Man...I am really sorry to hear it. Was looking forward to meeting you, shaking your hand and thanking you for your service. It would have been my honor. Have you not TOLD them that it is Freebird's Maintenance Day?
  19. I do believe that the higher and wider screen makes a difference but I don't think I've ever got as low as 100 miles on a tank. I did get down to about 130 miles per tank going to Colorado a couple of years ago but that was fighting one heck of a head wind, riding two up and pulling a very loaded trailer. That is about the worse it has been. After that, I discovered that I had a bad coil and the carb boots weren't seated well on top of the carbs so I don't think it would even be that bad again. I do love the tall and wide screens though.
  20. Just another reminder, if you haven't signed up for Freebird's Maintenance Day yet, PLEASE do so soon. I want to make sure that we order enough food. Here is the link for the calendar where you sign up. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=106&day=2009-6-6&c=1
  21. I've got 6 or 8 of them. If you are coming to Maintenance Day, I will save one for you. If you aren't, just send me a PM and I'll get one in the mail. See this thread for more details. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=17406
  22. I've got one. No problem.
  23. Yes, or my house if shipping is cheaper to the USA.
  24. No, sorry but the hats, caps and etc. are provided by another member and usually made as orders come in I think. About the only thing I keep at my house are the small patches and the guardian bells when I have them but I'm about out of the bells right now.
  25. Not really. First of all, there is really no room for a larger tire. Secondly, it would take a MUCH larger tire than you could fit to make up the disparity. The Speedohealer is really the only solution and it is very simple to install.
