Got 200 members transferred tonight. You will probably see some now with "Supporting Members" beside their name when they post. I'm done for tonight though, will get some more done tomorrow night. Thanks for your patience.

I think the Honda is a great car and will give you MANY miles of service. They look pretty nice too. As for the running lights...I'm not sure that it's law. I know that many Chrysler products do not have them. My company car is an '08 Caravan and it doesn't have them.

has anyone ever bought directly from morgan carbtune?
Freebird replied to big mike's topic in Watering Hole
No tickets...a former..or present...I'm not telling...member who went to a fuel injected bike donated the carbtune as well as a set of speakers. The speakers should work on a first or second gen. Also a used by very usable service manual for the 83-84 Venture. So...there are some prizes. Just show up and drop your names in the jar and you will be entered. -

Yes, a lot of us bought directly from Morgan and I've never heard of a problem. Just a footnote, I will be giving one away at maintenance day. Must be there to win. -
You know...there IS our original saying that is already on our patches and etc. Life's a Venture! Get on and Ride!

I had a black 920 but don't remember what year it was. It was a great riding bike though. Only problem I ever had was the the starter would turn it over very slowly when it was hot. Never failed to start but sure made me wonder a few times. Also had a 750 or 700 close to that same year.

OK folks, this evening I will start moving all paid members from the "Registered" usergroup to the "Supporting Members" group. This will take me at least a few days because I have to edit each paid members profile to move them to the new group. That is my fault as I didn't have it set up properly before I started the subscriptions. Anybody joining now will automatically get moved to the new group when they purchase a subscription in the UserCP but for those that have already done so, I have to do it manually. I would have been well on my way but there was a little glitch and every time I tried to do it, the supporting member lost the ability to login to the site. A couple of you ran into that and I apologize. So now I have that figured out and it just matter of editing all the profiles. Once I get all the paid members moved to their new group, then I can go back and change the access permissions for the registered but non-supporting members. This is all going to take a few days and in the meantime, those of you who are already moved will show "Supporting Member" beside your name when you post a message. If you have paid and don't see that designation, it's just because I haven't gotten to yours yet so please be patient. When I am done, I will post to let you know and THEN if you see that you got missed for some reason, you can let me know. Thanks, Don

BRIEFS!!!! Now there is no reason for you to be staring at my butt.

Thanks...I'll correct it. Really one year is all I'm doing at this time.

The BEST way is to just go to your UserCP...scroll down to Paid Subscriptions and do it there. If you use the donate button, I will still get it but then I have to go in and manually update your account. I can do that though so it's not a big deal.

Not at this time. Nothing has changed yet but when I get finished, new folks will get a 30 day free trial when they register and will be able to post. After 30 days, they will revert to registered but non-supporting status and their permissions will automatically change. Not sure yet what all they will have access to but will not be able to post.

Man...I really hate to hear that. I think that Yamaha will ask for your first born for the fairing. Actually, I think it retails for about $650.00. You could get a discount on it from the Motorcycle Superstore but it's still going to be expensive. The first thing I would do would be to take it to a GOOD body shop and see if they can repair it.

No guessing involved. Everybody has seen it....and it's chrome.

Yes, large and small patches are available in the VentureRider merchandise forum area.

Agree....quality products and very well designed.

Hope the tests come back with good news but getting the problem corrected will probably save you a lot of grief and pain in the future. We will keep you in our prayers.

The intercom static is a fairly common problem. The wires pass by pretty close to the ignition coil on the left from on the engine. You can usually just reach under and slightly move them towards the outside and it will stop the static. The CB going to receive mode is different. Are you SURE it's going to receive mode? Now I have heard of many reports of a loud feedback through the headsets when you blow the horn and maybe it IS caused by the CB but I've never heard it explained that way. At any rate, that seems to be a not so welcome characteristic of the these bikes and I'm not sure of a fix. Being that you bike is an '09 model, I think I would give the dealer a chance to figure it out. Don

You could also try Rick at http://www.buckeyeperformance.com Don't know which place would be cheaper though.

Try here. Just enter John Deere Decals in the search box. They have them for most tractors. http://search.yesterdaystractors.com/cgi-bin/fastsrch.pl

I've got a tach now but did it for years without one. I just screw in the idle screw just a tad to get the RPMs up a little bit. I usually idle at around 800 or so and just increase it slightly when syncing the carbs. Some people like to sync them at around 2000 or so but for me, it just hasn't make that much difference. Once I get them synced and then raise the RPMs, they seem to stay fairly close. When you initially blip the throttle, they may look to be off but if you hold it steady for a few seconds, they come back pretty close.

special thanks to freebird.also dealer..and a question
Freebird replied to jlh3rd's topic in Watering Hole
Well, in my opinion, even with the upgraded stator, you are just putting too much load on the system. From what I've read, Rick's stator is certainly better than stock but still limited. It doesn't take a lot of heated clothes before you run out of capacity. From everything you've described about the voltage at cruising speed and etc., it sounds like it is working properly. If you had a problem on the bike, it would show up before you started turning on your heated clothing. -
I hate these carbs
Freebird replied to Dragonslayer's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
OK.....that's MUCH better. Very nice bike but I think I would really need to see it in person to be sure. You may as well head over to Ohio for Maintenance Day. -
They look great and that is a bargain. Good job.

Glad you got it sorted out but for future reference, the screws are labeled incorrectly in the Yamaha service manuals...unless they have corrected it in the later editions. The correct procedure is in the tech library here. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=258

I'm still mulling all that over. Those that don't pay will still likely be able to read the posts and etc. and many will still probably join us at our meet and eats and etc. They will still be considered members but there will be members and then supporting members where supporting members will have all the current privileges. I will be starting the transition on Monday. I have already created a new usergroup named "Supporting Member" and all those who have paid will be moved to that group. After I have everybody moved to the new group, then the permissions for the old "registered" group will be changed. I figure that by about this time next week, the transition should be fairly complete. Depending on how busy I get with other things this week.
