  1. I would sure be leery of it. It looks like the '99 antennas also. Kind of hard to tell but Yamaha changed the antenna design after the first year.
  2. I agree. Looks great as is. GREAT JOB!
  3. I really don't understand the expense and liability issue. When Robert made these he did pretty well with them. He was not a rich man but he managed to do these. I could probably have them made by the company that I work for as they do a lot of vacuum forming. The only problem I see is that Robert did have a patent on this pod and after he passed away, his wife sold the patent to somebody. I used to know who it was but don't remember now.
  4. I think that touring model is pretty nice. I too have ridden the Spyder and it was a lot of fun. I can see the touring model being a hit.
  5. Regardless of the fins being "fake", they do offer some cooking capability. Yes, the engine is water cooled but it also gets some air cooling. I can tell you that on the 3080 mile trip that we just returned from, the bike ran hotter on hot days. When the temps were in the 90s, it seemed to run around 200-210 most of the time. When temps were down in the mid to high 70s, it seems to run around 190-200. The highest I ever saw it was on a day when the temps were in the mid 90s and we were stuck in traffic due to an accident somewhere ahead of us. I saw the gauge move as high as 245. Obviously the radiator and fan alone are not enough to keep it in the 200 range.
  6. Just a guess but I bet it's around $300.00. Seems to be the going price from what I hear. I don't want to steal Annie's Thunder. But here is a pic of the free dog the wife brought home about 3 weeks ago. His name is Henry. He was a traveling man when we picked him up. So, we decided that he is going on vacation with us and will cover about 6 states in the next 2-3 weeks. Anyone want to guess what a free dog cost? (so far) I know...there is nothing free if life right? Oh well, they are worth it I guess. Cute pup you got there also. Looks like it is all dressed up ready for a night on the town. Yea, I've done some looking though and some look exactly like this one. Some are curly and others not so much. Just depends upon whether they take more after the sire or the dam.
  7. Well, Eileen called me a few minutes ago. She got Annie into the vet today and they said that she appears to be perfectly healthy. Some tests won't come back for a couple of days and one of those is the heart worm test which I was really concerned about but so far, everything looks good. The vet said that she is about 18 months old and he said that he is almost 100% sure that she is a Labradoodle. Only DNA tests would tell for sure and I don't care enough to spend money to find out. She weighed in at 69 lbs.. Her name is officially Annie now because that is what Eileen told the vet. Eileen also had her micro-chipped while she was there. I didn't ask what this "free" dog had cost me so far.
  8. I can tell you since adding my gauges that ambient temperature certainly does make some difference in the operating temp of the engine. Mine runs considerably hotter when it is really hot outside.
  9. I understand. Like I said, I will be changing mine out soon. I've got Ponch's faceplate already and it is painted to match the dash on my '99. I have also ordered a set of Equus 8100 gauges to replace the SunPro gauges. I don't know WHY exactly but I just kind of liked the looks better and they have a screw on ring on the back rather than the U Brackets that hold the gauges in. Don't know that it's any better but decided to give them a try. I just wish they had the beige faces but oh well. So....I will soon have a set of SunPro gauges with the chrome face plate that I will probably give to somebody else who wants to use them. Maybe another contest? I don't know...we'll see.
  10. Those are basically the same faceplate as the Sunpro gauges that I used on my bike. They look good but I honestly think that Ponch's design looks much better. I've got one of his now and will be re-doing mine in the next week or two. The biggest thing is that is fits flush in the recess where the tape deck was and looks more like a factory option. Really great job.
  11. Well...unless it has changed again since I left yesterday morning, it is Annie. Yes, that is a VentureRider Guardian bell. Gotta try to keep her safe.
  12. UserCP, Edit Options, Messaging and notifications area. You have probably selected "automatically subscribe to threads that I post to".
  13. I use Mobil 1 Racing 4T for motorcycles and have used it since 1999. I am not saying that it is the best but I have complete confidence in it and will continue to use it. I also have heard nothing but good things about Amsoil and have no doubt that it is probably as good as Mobil 1. I hate hearing over and over though that all these independent tests have proven that Amsoil is the better oil. I have yet to see evidence of such "independent" tests. Every one that I have seen was actually funded by Amsoil.
  14. Sometimes I think that a FEW clucks is about it.
  15. Never would have worked out. She doesn't speak Canadian. Only English and Texan.
  16. I want to thank both of you for keeping this relatively civil. It appears that some feelings were hurt and I can understand that but it sure seems that it was not done intentionally. Donating 5% is a nice thought and though appreciated, is certainly not necessary. I can see that Gary does feel bad about it and Tim I hope that you can see that too and accept the apology that has been offered and that this can be the end of it. Hopefully you can both take this to email or private message if things are still not settled but I you are both to be commended at this point.
  17. I don't know of any standard filters other than those from Yamaha. Some have switched to K&N Filters. They are a little higher than stock but can then be cleaned and re-used.
  18. Personally, I never change oil grades. Never have and see no reason to.
  19. Well, I'm not sure WHY they sent extra ones but I seem to remember something about them being spares for the CB Antenna, where you adjust the SWR at the stinger.
  20. You can delete your ad or mark it sold. Marking is sold will let people that were interested know that it was indeed sold and then it will automatically delete in a couple of days. Go to your ad and then at the upper right will be a link that says "Product Options". That is where you do it. I understand but please see this thread for the downside. 21. OK folks. Finally got around to taking a couple of pictures of our new Mascot. She is doing very well. Acts like she has been here forever and seems happy to have a good home. Goes to the vet on Wednesday for a good checkup but all is well so far. Here she is sporting her new VentureRider bell. Not 100% sure on a name yet but it looks like Eileen is leaning towards Lucy or Annie.
  22. The way it is set up right now is that you must be a member to post after your free trial ends. Non-members CAN read all posts but cannot use the search feature. I think it's a good compromise. It just seems that we would want folks to be able to read so that they can see what a great group you all are.
  23. Yes they will. Sounds like a good deal.
  24. You are asking me to believe that you need HELP to get into trouble? I don't THINK so.
  25. I use Mobil 1 Sythetic Gear Lube. Very pleased with it.
