Absolutely. I can marry you. The good part of me doing it is that if you ever want a divorce, it will be VERY simple.

I've been looking at one of these for my wife. Sam's club has them for $269.00. but most of the stores I've checked don't have them. What prices are you folks finding?

Gary, Like others have said, sorry you went down but it could have been a blessing in disguise. Hopefully the enlarged lymph nodes are nothing but if that is not the case, then it is probably good that they found them when they did. The Lord works in mysterious ways. My own cancer was discovered due to a totally unrelated event and it hopefully saved my life. I will certainly keep you in my prayers.

To be honest, it sounds cheap to me. I was self-employed for one year about 10 years ago and I paid about $1200.00 per month for myself, wife and son.

OK folks....I just did a software upgrade on the site. Please let me know if you see anything not working correctly. Thanks.

A "crest"? LOL...is that Canadian for patch?

Heck...mine probably came today too but I'm in South Bend, IN on business and won't be home to see it until Friday.

Just to be fair and keep everybody updated, Dingy did do as he said that he would and made a donation of 5% of the selling price to VentureRider.org I know that he feels bad about the way this played out and hopefully now we can all put it behind us.

Don't worry Mini....it was probably just looking for a place to lay its eggs. You may have babies soon. These kind of things just happen to folks that throw ice water on people.

I"m with Bill on this one. I don't think that the Stratoliner is the future of the Venture. I'm putting my money on the modified VMAX engine.

Did any of you notice that the California model would be available in 2010? I wonder what that is all about. I'm wondering what will be different about it? I know that current California models have more smog junk on them but apparently it wasn't good enough for the 2010 requirements. Could that be when we will see a glimpse of the future?

removed cassette, added gauges......done
Freebird replied to jlh3rd's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Well, I liked Ponch's faceplate so much that I decided to redo my gauges. I also replaced the Sunpro gauges with the Equus 8100 ones that Ponch had posted a link to. They cost about $10.00 more than the Sunpro but the faceplates of the gauges are almost the exact same color as the beige on our dashes. I really like them. -
No problem. Great article and it is now copied to the tech library. Thanks much.

Thanks for the nice comments. It's usually not that much work though. I have a lot of things automated so unless there is a problem, it's not too overwhelming. Sometimes things do get to be a bit much though. This weekend is a good example. I thought I was going to have a nice and relaxing 3 day weekend. Got home Friday evening to find that the company had decided that it was time for me to get a new laptop computer. So.....while it's nice getting a new computer, I've spent about 9 hours so far setting the new one up, installing all my software, transferring all my saved files, emails, account settings and etc. to the new one. I actually was just fine with the old one. I'm about done now though. Only problem is that I can't re-install Corel Suite 12 because disk 1 got damaged. So...I'll either do without it or have to replace it. I spent a couple of hours messing with it and it just won't work.

Any of you who are using Yahoo for your email clients are likely not getting any email notifications to threads and/or forums that you have subscribed to. I am getting rejection notices from yahoo for all messages sent to you. They say: SMTP error from remote mail server after initial connection: host g.mx.mail.yahoo.com [209.191.118.103]: 421 4.7.0 [TS02] Messages from 67.222.3.45 temporarily deferred due to user complaints - 4.16.56.1; see http://postmaster.yahoo.com/421-ts02.html: Yahoo says that it could be from user complaints or simply that a lot of email is coming from this server. Please understand that if you get email notifications, it is because you have elected to do so. If you are getting emails from venturerider.org and have complained to Yahoo about it then shame on you. All you have to do is go to the UserCP and "Edit Options" and make sure that you have selected "Do Not Subscribe" to any topics or posts. It is off by default so if you are getting such emails, YOU have turned them on at some time in the past. I have emailed Yahoo in an attempt to get this resolved and hopefully it will be soon.

I would sure be leery of it. It looks like the '99 antennas also. Kind of hard to tell but Yamaha changed the antenna design after the first year.

I agree. Looks great as is. GREAT JOB! -
I really don't understand the expense and liability issue. When Robert made these he did pretty well with them. He was not a rich man but he managed to do these. I could probably have them made by the company that I work for as they do a lot of vacuum forming. The only problem I see is that Robert did have a patent on this pod and after he passed away, his wife sold the patent to somebody. I used to know who it was but don't remember now.

I think that touring model is pretty nice. I too have ridden the Spyder and it was a lot of fun. I can see the touring model being a hit.

Regardless of the fins being "fake", they do offer some cooking capability. Yes, the engine is water cooled but it also gets some air cooling. I can tell you that on the 3080 mile trip that we just returned from, the bike ran hotter on hot days. When the temps were in the 90s, it seemed to run around 200-210 most of the time. When temps were down in the mid to high 70s, it seems to run around 190-200. The highest I ever saw it was on a day when the temps were in the mid 90s and we were stuck in traffic due to an accident somewhere ahead of us. I saw the gauge move as high as 245. Obviously the radiator and fan alone are not enough to keep it in the 200 range.

Just a guess but I bet it's around $300.00. Seems to be the going price from what I hear. I don't want to steal Annie's Thunder. But here is a pic of the free dog the wife brought home about 3 weeks ago. His name is Henry. He was a traveling man when we picked him up. So, we decided that he is going on vacation with us and will cover about 6 states in the next 2-3 weeks. Anyone want to guess what a free dog cost? (so far) I know...there is nothing free if life right? Oh well, they are worth it I guess. Cute pup you got there also. Looks like it is all dressed up ready for a night on the town. Yea, I've done some looking though and some look exactly like this one. Some are curly and others not so much. Just depends upon whether they take more after the sire or the dam.

Well, Eileen called me a few minutes ago. She got Annie into the vet today and they said that she appears to be perfectly healthy. Some tests won't come back for a couple of days and one of those is the heart worm test which I was really concerned about but so far, everything looks good. The vet said that she is about 18 months old and he said that he is almost 100% sure that she is a Labradoodle. Only DNA tests would tell for sure and I don't care enough to spend money to find out. She weighed in at 69 lbs.. Her name is officially Annie now because that is what Eileen told the vet. Eileen also had her micro-chipped while she was there. I didn't ask what this "free" dog had cost me so far.

I can tell you since adding my gauges that ambient temperature certainly does make some difference in the operating temp of the engine. Mine runs considerably hotter when it is really hot outside.

I understand. Like I said, I will be changing mine out soon. I've got Ponch's faceplate already and it is painted to match the dash on my '99. I have also ordered a set of Equus 8100 gauges to replace the SunPro gauges. I don't know WHY exactly but I just kind of liked the looks better and they have a screw on ring on the back rather than the U Brackets that hold the gauges in. Don't know that it's any better but decided to give them a try. I just wish they had the beige faces but oh well. So....I will soon have a set of SunPro gauges with the chrome face plate that I will probably give to somebody else who wants to use them. Maybe another contest? I don't know...we'll see. -

Those are basically the same faceplate as the Sunpro gauges that I used on my bike. They look good but I honestly think that Ponch's design looks much better. I've got one of his now and will be re-doing mine in the next week or two. The biggest thing is that is fits flush in the recess where the tape deck was and looks more like a factory option. Really great job.
