  1. I have copied the first post here to the First Gen Tech Library. A huge thanks to Dingy for doing this. Award issued.
  2. There is a 15 day trial period. After that, they are shown as expired trial members and can still read but cannot post, view pictures or use the search feature.
  3. Are you SURE all the coils, plugs, wires are good? A bad coil can play havoc on your gas mileage and these bikes still run pretty darn good on three cylinders. You may not even notice it unless you are riding hard.
  4. OK...that's it for me. I'm not reading ANY MORE of your posts. I don't want to hear about such vulgar things.
  5. Why don't you just install the spacer that somebody here sells. Then you will not have to remove the lightbar to split the fairing. I don't have the spacer on mine. Replaced the bolts with hex heads long ago and they have worked fine. I use a long 3/8 extension and it does still end up being at a bit of an angle but it has worked fine for me. If I were having the problems like you are though, I would go with the spacer.
  6. Does anybody know who that person is? Looks like he is the same one who copied Larry's lift adapter. I wonder if he cruises this site and the steals the ideas that he finds here. He could even be a member here. I have no idea.
  7. I saw your other post about wanting a Clarion CD changer. I didn't know what your reason was but now I do. I will tell you that it will not likely play your MP3 cds either. I think it's the exact same unit that Yamaha sells with the bike.
  8. Everybody has their own opinions and there is certainly nothing wrong with yours but I love the MP3 players. I previously used my Ipod and it had over 100 CDs on it. Now I use the Garmin 550. Batteries are not a problem with either because both can be powered from the bike. You still control the volume through the bikes controller. The only thing you can't do through the controller is select songs. Mine is usually on random play anyway. The downside to the CD changer is that they WILL skip if you get on some rough roads.
  9. I'm lucky I guess. My company is pretty good about that stuff. I have no per Diem when I travel. They ask us to try to keep the hotel under $80.00 per night which is usually easy enough to do. Some areas may cost a bit more but they understand that. I usually just have the continental breakfast at the hotel, a burger or something if I even eat lunch but dinner....our owner says to eat a GOOD dinner and I do. It varies depending upon my mood but I'll usually spend from $20.00 - $50.00 for dinner. Usually in the $35.00 range. The only restriction is on drinks. We are on a strict two drink maximum. That is plenty for me though.
  10. I've seen it before and those kids are GREAT. If anybody has a problem with our Star Spangled Banner...maybe THEY don't belong here.
  11. I know that prices vary depending upon when you go. The prices I'm seeing for July are approximately: Holland: 940 Interior 1249 Oceanview 1799 Balcony Ports of Call: Departs From Seattle, Washington visiting Cruise Glacier Bay; Juneau, Alaska; Sitka, Alaska; Ketchikan, Alaska; Victoria, British Columbia Norwegian: 859 1029 1499 Ports of Call: Departs From Seattle, Washington visiting Cruise Inside Passage, Alaska; Juneau, Alaska; Skagway, Alaska; Cruise Glacier Bay; Ketchikan, Alaska; Victoria, British Columbia
  12. You need to see if he has any at this time but Eddie had some large venturerider patches about that size. [ame=http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1486]Large VentureRider Patches - VentureRider.Org[/ame]
  13. Also, make sure you have the nylon spacers correct on the antenna so that nothing is grounded.
  14. I run mine at "0" all the time. You won't hurt a thing. Are you SURE that it won't hold air though? How are you checking it? About the only way to do it is to use a Progressive pump which has a "0" loss air chuck. The max is 7 psi and if you use a standard air gauge to check them, you will just about drain all the air just checking them.
  15. LOL...I actually asked a young man that question one time and he was really perplexed trying to figure it out.
  16. Here they are about $20.00 cheaper. [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Equus-6100-Black-Triple-Gauge/dp/B000EW0KX6/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&s=automotive&qid=1254737431&sr=1-8]Amazon.com: Equus 6100 Black Volt Triple Gauge Kit - Measures 1 1/2-Inches: Automotive[/ame]
  17. 39 mugs remaining.
  18. UH HUH...yea ...and the pictures are WHERE?
  19. Folks, I think that Eileen and I are going to try to take an Alaskan Cruise in July or August of 2010. We have a lady here who sells cruises and she asked me a year or so ago if I thought there was any interest within the club of a group package. I just thought I would throw it out here and see. Also, anybody who has done the inland passage Alaskan cruise and wants to share their opinion of the best cruise line to use and etc., it would be appreciated. I am thinking that we will depart from Seattle and do a 7 night cruise. I've looked at ads from Norwegian, Celebrity, Carnival and Princess at this time.
  20. I'm interested. Mine is 10 years old and starting to crack. Just PM me a price. Don
  21. You don't have to lose the MP3 plugin. It has a cable with a 1/8" stereo jack inside the fairing. Just unplug it from the cassette, get a short extension cable at radio shack, and run it out so that you can still use it. There is a tech article on it here: [ame=http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=3905]Installing an Aux line splitter - VentureRider.Org[/ame] Just use an extension cable instead of the splitter.
  22. I'm not sure about making chili with it but as for drinking, you can sub about anything for a Bud product and be better off.
  23. I think you could actually argue that point but it would be an uphill battle. First of all, count on it taking up to a couple of years for your case to ever even make it to arbitration. If it's not settled in arbitration, it will take another year or so to make it to court. Yamaha will argue that it is a characteristic of the bike and not a defect. With enough evidence, sound clips, evidence of them trying to resolve the issue on MANY bikes, etc., I think that there is a good chance that you could convince a jury that it is NOT normal. I actually suspect that it would never make it to a jury trial. Yamaha would not want to take a chance of losing in court because that would open them up to many other similar suites. Most likely they would settle with you in arbitration and part of that settlement would be you signing a non-disclosure statement so that they can keep it quiet. So in short, I think you could win. Just be prepared for it to take at least a couple of years. There are plenty of lemon law attorneys who will take your case and it would cost you absolutely nothing until you settle but then they are going to probably take 1/3 of the money which will likely be only replacement cost. Most lemon laws that I have seen result in the manufacturer buying the vehicle back less so many cents per mile that were put on it before the case was filed and then less cents per mile for mileage put on it after the case was filed. Anybody who is truly unhappy would probably be ahead time and money wise to just sell the bike and buy something that they are happy with and THAT is exactly why Yamaha has not done anything about the issue.
  24. I would think that it could be done fairly easily if somebody was good with bending tubing and etc. The second gen does not have a collector.
  25. One of our other Australian members brought this up a long time ago. He said that the CBs do not meet some sore of legal requirements in Australia. Don't remember if it was CBs in general or something about these specific units.
