I think I remember some pictures also but will have to search for them. It is very simple though. Just plug and play. I used 7.5% also and it put it dead on accurate with my GPS.
-
No, it will actually make it a bit worse but in the other direction. I think that most of us have used a 7.5% correction with the Speedohealer. The Odometer only reads about 4% or so high so after adding the Speedohealer, it will read about 3% low.
-
Wait a minute....you said that you bike's speedo is reading SLOW? That is opposite of most. Every one I've ever seen reads fast. In other words....the speedo will show that you are traveling maybe 70 MPH while you are actually only going about 65.
-
Yes, all the second gen speedos are off. Most by about 7%. If it really bothers you, all you can do is install a Speedohealer. A number of us here have done that. http://www.healtech-electronics.com/

OK....at least you didn't use that four letter word.... SN**

Folks, I just found out last night that our best friend is getting married in February and she expects us to be there. This is going to be a one week ordeal for us to get then and then back so the cruise may be out for us in 2010. We have a member here that goes by Cruiselady and she has offered to look at some various options for us. Not only for Alaska but possibly even some lower cost Caribbean cruises. I'm going to ask her to jump in here and offer some options and then we will see who is interested in what or if there is even enough interest at all. So...I will turn it over to her. I'm sure that she will be posting here soon.

Not all Michelin Commanders are radials. In fact, I didn't even know that they made the size that we need in radials. The ones that I had were not.

Indian regulator/rectifier group buy
Freebird replied to Dano's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I changed it from a linked image to an attached image. Not sure where it was hot linked from but some sites don't like that. -
Totally puzzled !!
Freebird replied to bootneck's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Moved to first gen tech talk. -
What really matters is what it is worth to YOU. I have a '99 with about 30,000 miles on it. It doesn't matter to me what it is worth because I have no intention of selling it anytime soon. If I WERE to sell it, I would be asking about $7500.00 for it. Doubtful I would get it but oh well....

Updated easier to read 1986-1989 Wiring Schematics
Freebird replied to dingy's topic in Watering Hole
I have copied the first post here to the First Gen Tech Library. A huge thanks to Dingy for doing this. Award issued. -
There is a 15 day trial period. After that, they are shown as expired trial members and can still read but cannot post, view pictures or use the search feature.

Uses too much gas.....
Freebird replied to Jason's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Are you SURE all the coils, plugs, wires are good? A bad coil can play havoc on your gas mileage and these bikes still run pretty darn good on three cylinders. You may not even notice it unless you are riding hard. -
OK...that's it for me. I'm not reading ANY MORE of your posts. I don't want to hear about such vulgar things.

OEM Light Bar Alternative
Freebird replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Why don't you just install the spacer that somebody here sells. Then you will not have to remove the lightbar to split the fairing. I don't have the spacer on mine. Replaced the bolts with hex heads long ago and they have worked fine. I use a long 3/8 extension and it does still end up being at a bit of an angle but it has worked fine for me. If I were having the problems like you are though, I would go with the spacer. -
Does anybody know who that person is? Looks like he is the same one who copied Larry's lift adapter. I wonder if he cruises this site and the steals the ideas that he finds here. He could even be a member here. I have no idea.

I saw your other post about wanting a Clarion CD changer. I didn't know what your reason was but now I do. I will tell you that it will not likely play your MP3 cds either. I think it's the exact same unit that Yamaha sells with the bike.
-
have a 2nd gen cd changer you want to get rid of?
Freebird replied to jdzimme's topic in Watering Hole
Everybody has their own opinions and there is certainly nothing wrong with yours but I love the MP3 players. I previously used my Ipod and it had over 100 CDs on it. Now I use the Garmin 550. Batteries are not a problem with either because both can be powered from the bike. You still control the volume through the bikes controller. The only thing you can't do through the controller is select songs. Mine is usually on random play anyway. The downside to the CD changer is that they WILL skip if you get on some rough roads. -
I'm lucky I guess. My company is pretty good about that stuff. I have no per Diem when I travel. They ask us to try to keep the hotel under $80.00 per night which is usually easy enough to do. Some areas may cost a bit more but they understand that. I usually just have the continental breakfast at the hotel, a burger or something if I even eat lunch but dinner....our owner says to eat a GOOD dinner and I do. It varies depending upon my mood but I'll usually spend from $20.00 - $50.00 for dinner. Usually in the $35.00 range. The only restriction is on drinks. We are on a strict two drink maximum. That is plenty for me though.

I've seen it before and those kids are GREAT. If anybody has a problem with our Star Spangled Banner...maybe THEY don't belong here.

New Antenna Installs
Freebird replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Also, make sure you have the nylon spacers correct on the antenna so that nothing is grounded. -
I run mine at "0" all the time. You won't hurt a thing. Are you SURE that it won't hold air though? How are you checking it? About the only way to do it is to use a Progressive pump which has a "0" loss air chuck. The max is 7 psi and if you use a standard air gauge to check them, you will just about drain all the air just checking them.

LOL...I actually asked a young man that question one time and he was really perplexed trying to figure it out.
