I understand. It's difficult to keep quiet about things that we believe strongly in but we just ask that everybody try. Your participation here is truly appreciated. Even if you DID stir this one up a bit.

Great thread. I hope you folks that haven't posted your pics will do so. One thing that is glaringly obvious is that MOST of us guys married WAY UP.

Folks....this IS turning into a political thread and will be deleted VERY soon if it doesn't stop. Lewis, I am truly sorry to hear about this mess and hope it gets straightened out very soon. Our prayers are with you both. As for government run health care. Whether you are in favor or against, this is not the place to discuss it.

Passing Lights vs No Passing Lights
Freebird replied to rumboogy's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I've had them on my '99 for more than 10 years. They have never caused a problem. I love them for all the reasons mentioned already.- 37 replies

I love my guitars also but don't play worth a dang. I'll keep plugging away at it though. My main player is my Seagull S6 Acoustic Electric cutaway. It just has a fantastic action. I also have a Yamaha acoustic and an Epiphone acoustic. I've had the Epiphone for about 40 years. It's a beautiful guitar but never had a good action. I can't justify buying another guitar but would love to have a hollow body electric like a Gibson or Gretsch. May start watching for a good deal on something similar but lower priced like the Ibanez Artcore, Epiphone DOT or something.

I considered the Interstate when I bought my '99 RSV. In fact, I stopped and test rode one on the way to the Yamaha dealer. I had ridden one before and really liked it but loved the styling of the RSV. I had to give it one more test ride though just to be sure. I loved the power and smoothness of the engine but the RSV was just more comfortable for me and also had the CB and intercom system which was missing on the Valk. I've never regretted my decision. They are a great looking bike though.

Sorry you trouble maker...I deleted ONE of those pictures.

Well...to start with...your shop needs to read the manual. Max PSI for the front shocks is 7 psi. I wouldn't think that 10 would have blown the seals but it may have. I typically run about 35 psi in the rear and usually zero in the front.

and THIS is what I get for re-setting your password for you. You just HAD to rub it in didn't you.

Let me add a big HAPPY NEW YEAR from the Nelson family. Eileen and I are getting ready to get out of here for the night. Going to a New Years gathering in Sandusky, OH featuring a 50s/60s band. Of course that was WAY before my time so I won't recognize most of that music. It should be fun though. It's not that far from home but I got us a hotel reservation a couple of blocks from where the party is so we can celebrate and not worry about the drive home. I wish for all of you and yours a very happy and prosperous new year. I thank you for your participation here and look forward to many more great times with all of you in the future. As for VentureRider.org.....We've only just begun. PS: I'm attaching a photo of where we will be. If any of you happen to be there, look for Eileen and I.

Also, if you haven't done it, pull the left rear turn signal lens and check for corrosion. I've seen several of these bikes that got water and corrosion in that one.
-
Really sorry to hear the news. You will probably never know exactly what happened but the fact is, it only takes a second of some distraction before you can find yourself across that line. Our prayers go out to all the family and friends.

You are right. I usually spell pretty well but struggled with that one. It was one of those situations where I spelled it right the first time then it looked wrong. Oh well...I'm sure it won't be the last time. It also made me realize that the spell checker works here in the comments box but not in the title field. Now...why don't you just go grade some papers or something.

Here is an example of a picture that is 640 x 480 and only about 81,000 bytes.
-
The max size for pictures to be uploaded is 640 x 480 and no more than 200,000 bytes. It is easy to get a 640 x 480 picture under the 200,000 byte limit if you use the correct software to resize them. If they are only slightly too big, the software will automatically resize them but if they are way too big then you will get an error, usually something like "invalid security token" if you try to upload them. Uploading them as an attachment will always result in them being shown as a thumbnail at the bottom of the post that must be clicked to see in full size. The pictures that are shown in large size inline in a post are linked from elsewhere. You have to upload them to some other place and then link them here. In that case, they will still be resized so that they show up no larger than 640 x 480 but they will show that size and not as a thumbnail. They will have a bar across the top that tells you to click if you want to see it full size. Yes, larger pictures do use more disk space and bandwidth and if they are linked so that they show inline within the post, they do make the page load slower. That can be a problem for people with slower connections. In that case, the loading speed is also influenced by the site where the pictures are stored. If that site is having any kind of problems then it will affect the loading speed of the page here.

Thanks folks. One thing I know for SURE though is that there are SOME of you that I don't need talking to my wife.

Today I celebrate 15 years of marriage to my lovely wife Eileen. It seems like just yesterday that I discovered her standing in that pumpkin patch, barefoot, hair all tangled and wearing that home made feed sack dress. I remember how sorry I felt for her and though I knew that it would be a challenge, I just couldn't leave her in that predicament. So, like a knight in shining armor, I decided that I would make her my wife and just do the best I could with her. I'll admit that it wasn't an easy decision and that I didn't accept her proposal the first time she asked. But WOW...look at the fine lady that she has become because of my willingness to take such a chance. It has actually worked out quite well and she really cleaned up nicely. So....though "celebrate" is a stretch since I am, as usual, out of town...I just want to say that it has been a wonderful 15 years and I hope just the start of many more great years together. In all honesty, without her, I would be nothing. PS: If she were to just HAPPEN to read this....I just want her to know that I WILL find out who hacked into my account and wrote that first paragraph and they WILL be punished severely.

I hope they get it resolved. I know they must be pulling their hair out by now. I wouldn't wish that on anybody. As for splitting the fairing. Here you go: [ame=http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=494]Splitting the Fairing - VentureRider.Org[/ame]

Mini....you KNOW that I'm just giving you a hard time. You don't have to try to bring a pie all the way to Maintenance Day. I'll get down your way one of these days.

Manifold O-rings Float level Setup
Freebird replied to Grisolm1's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I don't understand why you are using that method. If you have the carbs off anyway, it is best to just use a caliper or ruler to set them while the bowls are off. -
OHHHH....now I understand. You will peel, chop, cook and bake for all those OTHERS but I'm not worthy. I'm only worthy of a cold drink of very icy water. Thanks for explaining it all to me.

I've heard of these alleged pies....never actually SEEN or TASTED one though. Not sure if they are real.

Final Drive/Drive shaft help...
Freebird replied to jrcain32's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I think that most of us here use the Honda Moly 60 for the splines and everything else on the drive shaft.
