  1. I can't help much on the reliability question. I sold Chevrolets for a few years and sold a lot of 3/4 ton trucks with the 6.0. We had very few problems with that engine. That was about 7 years ago and before the 6.2. I don't know how much it differs from the 6.0 but if it's pretty much the same engine, it should be OK. The main problem with any of the GM motors was the intake gaskets. It wasn't a matter of IF they were going to leak but WHEN. I never understood why they didn't do something to correct that problem.
  2. OK...I just took another look at the Chevy site and selected the 2009 model year. The only rear end available with the 6.2 engine is the 3.42. That would typically mean that the gas mileage will not be as good. That is not always the case though. Sometimes the lower rear will get as good or better mileage if you do a lot of towing or drive where there are a lot of hills/mountains. At any rate, I wouldn't expect very good gas mileage. I will still stick with my estimate of 12-14 MPG.
  3. It may depend a lot on which rear end it has. I don't remember now but at one time, I think you could get a 4:10 rear with the 6.2 and that was a gas mileage killer. I know that most of the 3/4 ton trucks with the 6.0 were lucky to get 12-14 MPG. When I look at the chevy site now, I don't even see an option for a 6.2 in 2010 but they show the rear end options to be 3.08 standard or 3.42 if you order the trailering package.
  4. Put me down for one also and thanks for doing this.
  5. I appreciate all feedback but am really sorry that you feel that "it depends upon who you are". If that ever happens, it is certainly not intentional. I can tell you for a fact even some of the moderators make mistakes and have had posts removed. In fact, I have even censored myself at least two or three times. We are all human and are subject to having a bad day and posting something that we should not. I posted a reply to somebody a while back and then the next day I got a couple of PMs telling me that my post was two strong and was out of line. Upon reading what I had posted, I had to agree and deleted it. I will also admit that the heated discussions on motorcycle related items get more leeway than do any political, religious, gun debates, etc. The reason is simply because though some may get a bit heated, at least they are motorcycle related and that is the main reason we are here. People can be passionate in what they believe and though some threads may get heated, there is often much that we can learn from the content of those posts. We try to let those posts go unless they degrade to the point of personal attacks, name calling, etc. It is not always easy deciding when to step in. As I said, we are all human and subject to letting our emotions get involved. I personally have very strong political beliefs. Many times I've had to delete posts that were blatantly political even when I may have agreed with the content 100%. It's not easy when you try to be fair to all but I can promise you that I...and we...do give it our best shot.
  6. I would like to say that you did a great job but the pictures are too small to really tell.
  7. I understand and this has been discussed before. Sometimes the person who posts something that is borderline will receive an private message about it. That is IF it is truly borderline and we feel that it was truly a case where it was not intended to cause problems. There are others that are very clearly across the line and/or against our few rules here. We are not going to waste our time contacting those people. Your joke about the Navy carrier was in fact borderline. I have been watching it...as I do ALL threads...and was prepared to remove it if trouble started but on any such thing that is borderline, we will let it go unless trouble starts. Look folks, moderating a forum is not an easy job. There are many gray areas. Fortunately, MOST people here know the limits and that makes our job much easier. Others just like to see how far they can push things. Fortunately that is only a very few people. We are all adults here, it should not be necessary to baby sit.
  8. I honestly don't remember everybody who posted and what they said. I just know that it was getting nasty with one person posting an opinion on people carrying guns and then some others responding in some not so kind ways. It was started by somebody posting his opinion about people carrying guns. That should not have been posted. The discussion was NOT about gun control, gun ownership, right to carry, etc. It should not have been posted but once it was, it should have simply been ignored by everybody else. I did not send any notifications to anybody because I feel that the parties know who they are and after two warnings to stop it, they refused to do so. If anybody thinks they may have been a guilty party, then they PROBABLY were. Now can we all let this one go please.
  9. I hate to see this even start up again but I also don't think I understand. You say that you didn't get your answer but I don't see a question.
  10. It shouldn't be necessary at all. I don't think there is a single person here who doesn't know when they are crossing the line or just stirring something that doesn't need stirring. There will still be times when entire threads will be deleted and quite frankly, I don't want to ask the moderators to read through every single post and have to decide which posts are OK and which or not. If it's an otherwise good thread though with only a couple of posts that seem to be doing nothing but disrupt and turn it into something that it wasn't intended to be, we'll try to be a bit more selective.
  11. To be honest, I think if you have posted a warning or two and they continue anyway, I don't think a notification should even be necessary. Most should be able to figure it out.
  12. I would be hard pressed to name just 5 states as my favorite because most that I've ridden in have something to offer. I guess these would be at the top of the list though: Vermont Arkansas Colorado North Carolina Georgia Tennessee Oops...that was six. Also in Canada....the Banff area would be hard to beat.
  13. You folks may be right. I probably should have just deleted the posts that took the thread off track. To be honest, I allowed myself to get a bit irritated after my two requests to NOT take it down that road were totally ignored. I will try to do a better job in the future.
  14. That is exactly what happened. It's really a shame that folks can't discuss something else that is of interest without it getting hijacked with all the political mess. I posted TWO times to NOT let it get political but some folks just can't let it go.
  15. What color are the flames? Eddie has a Midnight with flames but the flames are blue.
  16. Here are some old pics I found that Rick Butler had sent me long ago. It is time consuming but not nearly as hard as it looks.
  17. Always happy to help. I promise it will get easier as you go.
  18. See if this thread helps any. It is in response to a different issue but shows the drum and pins. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=40713
  19. Diamond R Accessories makes a nice one also. They are a great company to deal with. http://www.diamondraccessories.com/yamaha/proddisplay.php?name=Passengers%20Tour%20Mug
  20. Yea, I admit that I know very little about that engine. I know the 3.8 wouldn't touch it in performance. I was basically just talking about reliability, gas mileage, etc. The 3.6 may be just as good or better, I just have no experience with it. I know that some of the small V6 engines made by GM had plenty of issues. Intake manifold and head gasket leaks were way too common. I'm talking about the 3.3 (or was it 3.1?) and smaller though. As for the Buick, the only one I ever owned was a 1970 GSX with 455, Ram Air and posi-track rear. Now THAT car would GO.
  21. I've never tried the product either and likely never will. I'm not bashing it but just don't see any reason to use it. Whether your mount your own tires or have them mounted, it only takes a few minutes extra to do a tried and true spin balancing. I've never had any problems doing it the old and proven way so I will just stick with it.
  22. The easiest place to get them is from Rick at http://www.buckeyeperformance.com He knows exactly what you need and offers a VentureRider discount. You can still find them a bit cheaper elsewhere but you will have the headache of needing to know exactly what to tell them you need and etc. Rick knows exactly what you need and has them ready to go.
  23. I agree with the good comments. I've never owned a Subaru vehicle but have known several people who have and I've never heard anything but good about them. I know that even their small engines are great. I have a pressure washer now with the Subaru motor. I just bought Eileen a new car and the Subaru was certainly on my list. As reported elsewhere, we ended up buying another Kia Sorento as we were very pleased with the 2004 model that we traded in. It came down to economics for us. The price on the Sorento was just too good to ignore. I think that I would have had to buy the Subaru Tribeca to get one with as much room and equipment I got on the Sorento and the price would have been thousands more. In fact, the price for a NEW 2011 Sorento was in line with the price of 2 and 3 year old models of similarly equipped models from other manufacturers. If price had not played a part though, the Subaru would have gotten some serious consideration. I don't think you can go wrong with it.
  24. I honestly think that the 3.8 is the best V6 that GM has ever produced. I had a Pontiac Bonneville years ago that I put about 140,000 miles on before selling it and never had a problem of any kind. Then a few years ago I had a Monte Carlo SS with the 3.8 and though I only put about 35,000 miles on it before trading it for a SUV, it seemed to be just as good.
