  1. It looks great and is probably nice BUT...I PROMISE you that is NOT a 1999 color. It really doesn't look like a re-paint but it could be. I agree that it appears that somebody has changed all the bodywork. I would certainly want to know why if it were me.
  2. Years ago, I started a registry for the MM models. It's not even linked anywhere now and I'm sure that most of the listed bikes are owned by different people now. 294 isn't on the list. http://www.venturerider.org/venturemm/
  3. Well, it is definitely not a '99 color. Maybe the seat was changed. Otherwise, everything else was changed. It is NOT '99 colors though. Whatever it is, it's a great looking bike.
  4. Don't encourage him Peggy...he will just go on and on and on......
  5. It was sitting at the end of one of the benches under the canopy.
  6. I saw your post before you deleted it and found your thread from yesterday in the "Moderation" queue. That should not have happened but it does from time to time. Something about a anti-spam key that I have installed that sometimes does a false positive. Sorry about that.
  7. Somebody left a flashlight here at MD. Haven't looked closely but it's Maglight type light. Larger D-Cell type. Let me know if it's yours and PM me your address and I'll get it back to you.

    Horns

I'm going to finally order a new horn for my RSV. I've used high power electrics but never the WOLOs and etc. that many of you go with. So my question, is there any significant difference between the WOLO and the Stebel? I know that Harbor Freight sells something similar also but I will most likely order one of those two.
  9. Great pictures Peggy, thanks for posting them.
  10. Now that is a fantastic job. Looks great.
  11. You do not need a PayPal account to pay with a credit card or bank transfer. You just follow the PayPal link and when the PayPal page opens, you also have the option to pay without a PayPal account, they are just the credit card processor in that case. The other way is to mail a check. PM me if you want to go that route. It has to be a money order or something though in US funds. It's not a matter of trust, but the last time my bank wouldn't process a Canadian check for whatever reason. I couldn't believe it.
  12. I did check yamahaparexcellence's account. PMs are not turned off but his trial membership expired on May 26th. He last posted on May 25th.
  13. Point taken. Don't completely disagree with you. It takes two to debate though. I think the third gen is a beautiful bike and if I were to buy a new bike, it would likely be the new Star Venture. I can only say that I would not feel the need to defend my decision to anybody. Opinions vary, I work for my money and can spend it how I wish. I would share my joy, poke fun at those who question my decision, and have fun.
  14. Yes, I had noticed. Hopefully, he will return at some point but I'll tell you the truth. I started this site about 13 or 14 years ago for the fun and camaraderie that it brings me and others. I have spent countless hours trying to make it the best gathering place that I can for the members. It's not perfect and I'm certainly not perfect but I learned long ago that I can only do my best and if I, and/or the site, falls short of some folks expectations then I have to accept that and move on. It does bother me when somebody gets upset and leaves but I've come to accept the fact that it will happen from time to time and I just try to learn what I can from it and move ahead. People come and go. Some go and come back. Some never return. That is their choice. I care, but I can't control the fact that different people have different needs and expectations and I can only do my best. It's not always good enough. Having said all of that, I actually hope that he hasn't been back because he IS indeed unhappy with us. That is a much better reason than something happening to him. Hope he had a great ride and is healthy and happy.
  15. Well, I'm sorry to hear that but a person has to decide what is best for them. You are welcome back at any time.
  16. OK my friends. Those who have been here for a long time know that I have this forum set-up so that I get emails of and read every single post on this forum. So I do keep up closely with all the various threads and posts. With the introduction of the new Venture, we have a few new members here and I promise that we are GLAD you are here and want you all to become a part of our family and I truly hope that you will come to realize that this place is more than just a website to many of us and we hope that you attend some of our events and truly become a part of this family. I am seeing some obvious conflicts between some of our die-hard V-4 lovers and some of the new V Twin lovers. I wish everybody would relax a bit and take it all with a grain of salt. Most of us who have been here for a while have seen the same type of arguments between the First Gen riders and the Second Gen riders. It has gone on for years. I'm one that started on an '88 First Gen, road it for a short time and just didn't adapt to it. The upright seating position and my inability to get comfortable on it caused me to sell it just a few months after buying it and I went to a Harley for a while. Then the second gen was introduced and it was perfect for me. I loved the stretched out cruiser styling of the second gen. I bought one shortly after they were introduced and kept it for 14 years. There has been PLENTY of poking back and forth between first and second gen riders where mostly we have been called "Harley Wannabes". Those first gen riders always promised though to pull over from time to time and let us catch up so we knew that they loved us. So now here we are again, bantering back and forth about the V4 vs. V2. There will always be those who would have preferred to see Yamaha introduce a new Venture built around the newer VMax engine and to be honest, I would have desired that also. Even if they had though, many of us have argued for years here if it should be designed as the first gen sport touring style or the second gen cruiser style. The fact is, I am not likely to buy a new bike anytime soon. My 2005 Midnight only has 22,000 miles on it and I'm just not riding like I once did. I can tell you though, I would be much more likely to buy the new VTwin venture than I would have a new V4 built in first gen sport touring style. Just doesn't work for me. So it's OK to banter back and forth about what is and what could have been but it's NOT ok to let it sink to a personal level. Let's have fun with it. Some teasing and bantering is normal and fine. Deep felt differences of opinion is even OK. Getting upset and insulting each other is NOT ok though and does nothing to promote the camaraderie that this site is built on. Now I will specifically mention @cowpuc here. I have watched and seen that he has gotten under the skin of a couple of people. He is a big boy and I know that he would want me to defend him and that is really not my intention here but you need to know what most of us here already know. His opinions may be mostly heart-felt but he also likes to sometimes play the antagonist. He also loves to have fun and I can just about promise you that 90% of the time that he is typing, he is typing with a huge grin on his face. I will also tell you this. Regardless of what he types here and how you might react to him, he would be the first person here to lend a hand or invite you to stop by and assist you if you needed help with anything, regardless of what you are riding. All I am asking is that everybody just take a deep breath, relax, realize that the differences in opinion are primariy just individual preferences. Again, we are glad to see the new faces here and I hope to meet some of you personally in the near future. Wish some of you could have made it to my place over the weekend. Would have been great to meet you. For the record, I have not ridden the new Star Venture or even seen one in person. I'm scared to seek one out because I KNOW I would want one.
  17. Glad to hear the reports of you folks getting home safely. Eileen and I truly enjoyed hosting all of you this weekend. It is truly one of the biggest highlights or our summer. Wish we could all get together more often...uh...maybe at YOUR house. No, we seriously love it. As usual, you all left the place looking great and it is much appreciated. Also, a big thanks to those who made it in time for the Quaker Steak ride on Friday evening. Glad you enjoyed my little "scenic detour" getting there. In spite of them not being ready for us even though I had called on Thursday to confirm, it still turned out to be a nice time. Will have to get some rest before I start looking forward to next year but God willing, we will certainly do it.
  18. Jeff is correct, I can only tell you that I didn't delete it. Maybe expired or maybe there was a glitch Sorry, just don't know.
  19. Still sounds like a stuck float. If you can tap on it and finally get it free, put a full can of seafoam in a full tank of gas and run it. Should eventually clean it up.
  20. Ragtop just pulled in and is setting up camp. It has begun.
  21. I had the same issue with my Iphone and those same features on my Nissan Murano. Did a lot of research and finally learned that Iphone is very finicky with their bluetooth and they simply don't work with a lot of such systems. I hope that's not the case with the Star Venture but it wouldn't surprise me. From all I've been able to find out, it's a problem with the Iphone and not the Murano and probably not the bike. I have an assortment of Iphones including a 5, 6, 7, and 10. None of them work with the text features in the Murano.
  22. Some of you know that I just left the sign business after working for Gemini Letters and Plaques for about 14 years. I had a few people tell me over 10 years ago that dimensional letters were going to be a thing of the past. All I can say is that I saw sales increases every year except for one for the almost 15 years that I worked for them. That one year, it remained flat.
  23. It is actually pretty cool in a strange way. Not self-standing, still have to put your feet down, definitely a negative for many who move to a trike. I'll stick with my original remark. Don't think I would want to own one but would like to ride one.
  24. Is that because it was a Canadian card? I ask because I have travelled all across the USA for many years and have no problem using my debit cards at the pump.
  25. I'm thinking that this has something to do with some LED halo light rings that the previous owner installed. They look pretty cool. They are controlled by a remote and there are settings to choose between a lot of different colors or automatically sequence through the different colors with optional transition effects between them. The thing is, he ran a hot wire directly to the battery to the LED controller. I've found them on twice already. I will rewire them through a relay that is only on when the slingshot is running or at least the key on. That way I know that they won't get turned on accidentally. Not 100% sure that is the problem but it needs to be done.
