  1. By the way, this thread is already stuck at the top. Has been for a long time.
  2. OK, it is added. Actually the excel file extension was already there but it was the older xls filetype. I just added the newer one also.
  3. Kevin, I can add the excel file type to the allowed files. It just depends upon how large it is though. If it's not too big, let me know and I'll add that extension type. Also, they use a couple different extensions so let me know which one it is.
  4. Unfortunately, you are going to need to pull the front fairing to further check it. There are five black cables inside the fairing. There have been many know instances where they need to be unplugged, possibly cleaned, and reconnected to remedy various stereo issues. Here is a picture of what you are looking for inside the fairing.
  5. I will place an order anytime that there seems to be enough interest. I have to order them, I don't remember if it's 50 or 100 at a time, so usually wait until there is at least a fair amount of demand.
  6. This is a kind offer. Just wanted to clarify a bit. This is a longtime previous member who no longer rides. He has parts to get rid of and because he is no longer a supporting member, wasn't able to list his FREE parts in the classifieds. He was kind enough to contact me and ask how to proceed and I suggested placing them in this forum area. So please know that you are dealing with a person who is known to the VentureRider family.
  7. I sincerely admire you for taking such good care of your father and I agree that it is probably time to get him full-time help and companionship. I tell you, since getting into the stairlift business, I see situations that just break my heart. I meet so many wonderful and kind elderly people and am so happy when they have loving and caring family around them but not all do. This week, I got a call from a lady in New Philadephia, OH. I'm sure you know where that is. The is somewhere around 92 years old. She wasn't sure but said that she was 91 - 93. She lives alone. She has a daughter but she lives in Minnesota. She does have a couple of close friends that she sees and talks to on the phone several times a week. She is physically in pretty good shape. She is a retired school teacher and can tell stories about things that happened 50 and 60 years ago in great detail. She has almost no short term memory though. She had a very old stairlift that stopped working. She couldn't find anybody who would come look at it. It was an 1:45 hour drive for me but I told her I would come by. I knew right off that the stairlift had seen better days and it would cost more to repair it than it was worth. She insisted though that she didn't have the money for a new one so I gave it an honest try. I put new batteries in it and could get it to move but it wouldn't charge. The charger is built into the main circuit board and my cost on the board is about $700.00. So with new batteries, a new circuit board, service call, etc. It was going to be around $1,000.00 even if I did the board at my cost. At that point, it might work but was still worn out. Guide rollers, pinion gear, etc. were all worn out. Even if I got it working, I wasn't sure it would be safe. I quoted her a new one for $2895.00 including installation but she said there was just no way that she could afford it. So, I told her that I would go home and see if I could gather up enough used parts to get it working and safe. I found some of what I needed and then went back the next day and gave it another try. I changed the circuit board and finally got it to charge like it should but that led to the discovery of more issues and it just became a waste of time to continue. Now, she was such a sweet lady, sometimes I am just not a good businessman. I now have over 6 hours of driving time and another 6 hours of on-site time invested but because I just couldn't get it to work, I refused to charge her anything. She asked me again how much a new one would cost and I told her 2895.00. She again told me that she didn't have the money but that she wanted to pray about it and would give me a call back. The next day, she called to let me know that she just had to have a stairlift and that though she didn't have the money, she could get it from her credit union. So I prepared a new lift and then went back yesterday to remove the old one and install the new one. She told me that she hadn't gotten to the credit union yet but that she could pay me all but $1,000.00 and then send me that early next week. I agree to do so. Then she wanted to call her bank and make sure that the check that she was writing me was good. She couldn't figure out how to call her bank so I looked up the number and dialed it for her. She had the bank on speaker and they told her that she had $27,700.00 in her checking account. So she thanked them and hung up. Then she told me, if it's OK, I'll write you a check today for $27,000.00 and then send you the rest after I go to my credit union. She thought that when I told her $2895 for a new one, That it was twenty eight thousand and ninety five dollars. She needed it so badly that she was willing to pay that. It took me a good while to explain to her that it was $2895.00, just under $3,000.00. The sad part is that there are many people out there who prey on our elderly. There are people who would have wiped out her bank account and left her with nothing. I actually discussed it with her before leaving and told her that I was worried about her because there are people who would take all her money if she is not careful. Her response was, I know, I realize that now, but I knew that I could trust you and that you weren't going to cheat me. She did agree though to run any future large expenditures by her friends. I'm just afraid that she won't remember that either though. There just comes a time when some people need full-time help. That day may come for me also. When it does, I hope that I am able to recoginze that fact.
  8. The most uncomfortable rifle I've ever owned was a Remington 700 BDL in 30/06. I'm not particularly recoil sensitive but this gun was painful to shoot. I've owned a number of 30/06's and even other Remingtons but the BDL was different. The stock was pretty much straight back, no drop (or not nearly as much) like the ADL models had. When you shot, there was no muzzle rise, it just drove straight back into your shoulder. Just after buying it, I put a scope on it and then took it to the range to site it in. I may have shot it 20 or 30 times that day and my shoulder was bruised. I didn't keep it long. It was very accurate though.
  9. Depending on the scope, he may be a bit high on it. You can pick them up for around $550.00 new. If it's a high-end scope, it might be OK.
  10. I've never owned or even fired a 45-70. I've owned two Marlin .444's though and they were great brush guns and fun to shoot. I too would live to try that one.
  11. I can tell you that I have never seen my RSV smoke with a full can of Seafoam added to a full tank of gas.
  12. When I saw it, it made me want to start completely over with my seats, bib, saddlebag lid covers, etc. Just can't spend the money that it would take though.
  13. I get a message that says "this post has been removed or cannot be loaded". hmmmmm
  14. Cap full? Most of us use MUCH more than that. I put a full can in my tank twice a year. One in the fall before I store for winter. I run that out in the spring and then usually another about mid-summer. I don't think a cap full is going to do anything at all to help you.
  15. I THINK that Michelin makes the tire in the 130 width for the front. I've never used the 130 but a lot of people do.
  16. I never thought you did. No problem my friend.
  17. Please welcome our newest VentureRider Vendor. Though not motorcycle related, @luvmy40 owns the company Custom Carry Concepts and makes custom Kydex holsters for many different pistol models. If you are interested, details are posted here: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?137449-Custom-Carry-Concepts&p=1043851#post1043851
  18. LOL....hey....some people arrived the day before you did. I can tell you that the only Maglight type flashlights I've ever owned are the small "AA" battery ones. Not saying that Alzheimers isn't setting in....but I don't remember forgetting anything.
  19. I'm not saying that they can't be removed but you are talking major modifications. There are a lot of things inside them. Cruise control actuator, fuse boxes, etc. As for the mufflers, if you look on the bottom or maybe bottom around on the inside a bit, they are marked with the Yamaha part numbers. They don't look like any Vance and Hines mufflers that I have ever seen, but I haven't seen them all. Post a picture and we can probably give you some idea. Some people put a Harley muffler on them that look very similar to the stock Yamaha mufflers but they aren't Vance and Hines, they are OEM Harley mufflers. Some people also actually DO use Harley Vance and Hines mufflers but they are usually easily identifiable as V&H.
  20. Kind of contradicts itself huh? I've actually never seen one damaged. At any rate, you should have found the part numbers at the links provided. I'm not one to tell somebody else that they should or shouldn't replace them. I just don't on my bikes.
  21. Now I feel better about having not changed one in over 20 years.
  22. LOL...not only did they not come forward, I'm not sure where it is now. Sure I could find it though.
  23. I added a note to the first post just to be sure that people are aware. I actually thought that they made it pretty obvious though.
  24. I moved this thread to the Darksider's Forum.
  25. I got an email from Nancy at Ace High Leathers. She asked me who won the tank bib that she donated as she would like to have a picture of it on the bike. I should remember but ..... I don't.
