  1. Yes, this company clearly stated that Medicare and Medicaid don’t pay enough so they charge people with insurance much more. They said that by law, they can charge whatever they want. Paul had already been transported by ambulance to the hospital, that hospital decided to transfer him to another one. Julie took a taxi to the other hospital and it was a 37 minute drive. So maybe 10 minutes by chopper and $52,000.00. They are. Crooks in my opinion.
  2. Many of you have met Paul Heiba, @Motiv here on the site, at my Maintenance Day. Paul and Julie live not far from me and I consider them to be good friends. Reading things like this hurt me regardless of who it is and especially when it's a friend and a VentureRider member. Last year, Paul and Julie took a dream trip on the bike that turned out to be a nightmare. Paul had a blowout and lost control of the bike on their way back home. I'll let this story speak for itself but I can tell you that it is all true. My prayers are with them in hopes that it will get resolved but it appears that the company just wants their money, nothing else matters to them. https://www.news5cleveland.com/news/local-news/investigations/diagnosis-debt/it-can-happen-to-anyone-of-us-an-air-ambulance-ride-costing-53-000?fbclid=IwAR0zSC3evSlgTrbGnM6A3TXPAlFo3IJcIlMxJFcF3f_YMEvCvtsdgpaUi9s
  3. I did but I'm not sure it's working as well. Will give it some time to see for sure.
  4. Well, I had to reschedule my MRI and other appointments in September due to the month long lapse in my insurance. I've felt just slightly better over the past week. My wife is probably going to take a trip to Texas to visit her son in Early September and I'm determined to take a ride while she is gone. I have to prove to myself that I can still do it so am thinking about doing an Ironbut. Not sure where yet but I REALLY need to get in the wind for a couple of days at least. We'll see.
  5. Sorry, haven't heard of anybody doing it but I know that even upgrading to the latest software on one already installed has been a nightmare for some. I don't think it could be that hard to install but just haven't heard of anybody doing it at this point.
  6. My Cobra coverage expires on September 2nd. My new policy for some reason doesn't go into effect until October 1st. I think that somebody made a mistake but I've been unable to get it moved up.
  7. That sounds like a GREAT ride. We have ridden in the White Mountains one time and absolutely loved it. Stumbled upon a B&B somewhere in Vermont that just happened to have a cancellation. Really nice little place called the Round Barn B&B or something like that.
  8. Great pictures. Rest In Peace my friend.
  9. I don't think so. I don't know why they do it the way they did. The knew when my old insurance was expiring. I don't know if it was by design or what. It was an expensive month for insurance., Had to pay over $2,000 for my final month with my old company and over #2 ,000 to get the new one started. So, almost $4200.00 in insurance premiums this month. Need to sell more stairlifts.
  10. I have added Bongobob and Masterguns to our memorial page. We are all aware of Bob but Masterguns had left the forum a while back and his passing was missed by most. He was a good man and I'm sure that many of you remember him. May they both rest in Peace.
  11. We lost another member recently. He had actually left the forum a year or so ago but was pretty active at one time. He helped me out with a, shall we say "Unruly" member, a couple of years ago. Really just helped me to understand that the guys had some problems. I really appreciated his council during that time. I'm sure that many of you will remember him. He was a good man and will be missed by those who did. Rest in Peace Masterguns.
  12. Just wanted to add a thread to this forum because the watering hole gets purged from time to time and I want all our departed members to be forever remembered. Doubt that I'll make Bob's funeral though I would desperately like to. Rest in Peace our friend. You will be missed.
  13. Well a new irritating development. My medical insurance is ending on September 9th. I have already arrange and paid for new insurance but just noticed that it doesn't take effect until October 1st. Surprised me because I had to send them documents about when my current insurance was ending so assumed it would start at the same time. I had no choice. I was still on Cobra from my old company and it was only good for 18 months so getting new insurance had to be done. Oh well. Looks like we will be without insurance for a month so I may have to delay anything for a few weeks. The MRI is scheduled for the Sept. 3rd though so I will get it in at least.
  14. If you go to their website, they do take cash donations. You apparently have to mail a check though.
  15. You can take it to a Automotive paint store and let them match it or you can go to: https://www.colorrite.com OOPS....looks like they no longer go back that far at ColorRite. You might still call them, they may have it. Otherwise, looks like taking it to a store to get it matched is the only option.
  16. Pretty darn cool.
  17. Corbin makes a seat and I was told that Russell does also but haven't checked it out. The only mufflers that I know of made specifically are from a company named Tab Performance. I haven't tired yet but I figure that any turning mufflers for the Harley would work with a simple bracket fabrication.
  18. The '99 engines were all silver. Don't remember what year they changed that.
  19. I will admit that this is a bit shocking for me. I knew that he wasn't doing well and when it was posted yesterday that he had taken a turn for the worse, I knew that there was a chance that Bob was leaving us but I just refused to accept it I guess. I just felt that he was going to beat this and pull through. It is hard for me to believe that I won't be seeing Bob again. He sas a special person. Kind, generous, funny, so many great things to say about him. He will be missed so very much. My prayers are with all that had the privilege of knowing him, especially Becky. I just don't know what else to say at this time. I know that Bob had a special relationship with our savior and I am thankful for that and find peace in knowing that he is with our Lord and Savior. Rest in peace my friend.
  20. Didn't want to hear this but appreciate the update. Prayers said for all involved. Bob is a good man.
  21. I have the hitch installed but haven't pulled my trailer yet. My expectation is that it will pull even better than the RSV or RSTD. Primarily because the torque is so good and it makes the torque at low RPMs.
  22. I take 5MG of Lisinopril per day. I'm not at all sure that it is causing the problem but will talk to my Doctor about trying something else.
  23. If it's a Honda Dream, you did good. They are cool old bikes. Is it a 165 or 305?
  24. It may be more than one issue. The dizziness may or may not be connected to the nodule on my thyroid. They have never changed my BP medicine but I think it is possible that it is what is causing my dizziness. I've only been taking a very low dosage for a couple of years. When they first gave it to me, it drove my BP down so low that I would get dizzy and almost pass out. They cut the dosage in half and it has been much better but still gets too low at times. I'm only taking about 5MG a day now but sometimes I think that even that is too much.
  25. It seems over the past few days that I've suggested checking the battery several times but I've had that exact same thing happen with a weak battery. Bike would start and run but sometimes just after starting it, the stereo would do exactly as you describe. As long as the charging system is good, it would charge up enough after starting for the stereo to start working ok again.
