  1. Just learned that Gary Linn (yankeereb) has passed away. He didn't post often but enough that many of us knew who he was. Not sure when he passed but please keep his wife and family fun your prayers.
  2. Since they were not numbers like the Millennium, I doubt that the serial number is even known.
  3. They are blowing smoke. Leaking shock will hold air pressure just fine. The oil is for dampening and it will still hold air pressure.
  4. I have a 10-22 and think that would be really fun. I looked at their website and don't see it listed yet for the 10-22 but the ones that they have listed start at $429.00. Too expensive for me.
  5. Have no idea. I hope he joins up and replies.
  6. Received this picture from a gentleman in Canada. Pretty cool. Number one of the special edition Millennium RSV.
  7. I cannot confirm but assume that it will retain the different levels. I replaced only the passenger backrest and there was nothing but the heading pad in the backrest itself. So I assume that the level controls are not built into the seats. You just hook the wires from the seats to the controllers on the bike. That should mean that the different levels will still work.
  8. LOL....but there was no alcohol involved. . I wish there had of been. That would be a great excuse.
  9. Also, I assume that you checked both fuses? There is one that most people often miss. It is inside the lower cowling on the right side of the bike. It is marked "backup fuse" or something like that.
  10. Looks great. I'm a bit surprised that it need any oil though., Did you have it upright when you checked it? Not on the siidestand.
  11. That's pretty cool. Sometimes we don't think about the people who make things happen.
  12. Thank you for all the replies. Also thank you for all the very good advice, which I ignored of course. I woke up the next morning feeling pretty normal except for a sore neck. I think that when I hit the wall, it forced my head way forward into my check and likely did pinch a nerve. A good nights sleep seemed to take care of most of the pain though except for a sore neck. It's still slightly sore but almost back to normal. I actually went skating again last night but only skated for a few minutes. Will give it a few more days before I really get into it again. Thanks again.
  13. Naw, I promised my wife I would do that if I didn't feel better this morning but I'm going to be fine.
  14. That's what we are missing on the forum, a DOCTOR. OK, here is the story. About a year or so ago, my wife started going to the roller rink just about a mile and a half from our house. She used to ice skate years ago and decided that she wanted to try roller skating as it is really good exercise. She has asked me to go but I've, smartly I think, always declined. About two weeks ago, I finally gave in and agreed to give it a try. Surprisingly, I did much better than I expected to. I have never skated, even when I was a kid, so it was totally new to me. I admit that I fell a couple of times but I got it down fairly quickly. Since then, I've been a few times. I think that yesterday was the 5 time I had been. I got there yesterday and didn't feel as stable as I normally did but was doing OK. I decided to go outside for some fresh air as I do every time. As I was standing there on the concrete pad beside the front door, my feet suddenly went out from under me. I was probably two or tree feet from the cinder block wall of the building and as my feet went forward out from under me, the back of my head slammed against the cinder block wall. It happened so fast that I don't know exactly what happened. It stunned me but didn't knock me out. So I was laying there on my back. My wife was asking me if I was ok. I told her to just give me a couple of minutes and I would be fine. What I didn't tell her at that time though was that I couldn't move my arms or hands. My arms were extended by my sides. I couldn't feel them or move them at all. I couldn't even wiggle my fingers. I was trying hard to get my fingers to move but there was no feeling at all. I laid there for about 30 or more seconds, basically trying to WILL my fingers to move, and finally one of them did just a bit. After a minute or so, I was finally able to start wiggling them a bit and then pretty soon after that, I could move my arms and hands again. So I got up and got myself composed and was pretty much OK. I had a knot on the back of my head and some minor bleeding but otherwise, not too bad. I decided that I was done skating for the day. My wife suggested that I go home and lay down for a bit so that's what I did. When I got in the truck and my back touched the seat, it felt slightly like there were thousand of needles sticking me. When I got home I took off my shirt and when my fingers touched the upper left side of my chest, there was immense pain. Like a thousand tiny and sharp needles sticking me. I literally couldn't touch the left side of my chest without feeling the needles. No bruises or any indication of anything except the pain of needles. I went back to the skating rink about an hour later to pick up my wife and we went to dinner. By the time we got back home, the worse part of that needle pain was finally gone. I feel much better this morning. My neck is a little sore and I have a big bump and a small scab on the back of my head. The needle pain is gone but when I touch my upper chest, it is very slightly tender. My question is, what the heck happened. Why were my arms and hands paralyzed. What caused the needle pain on the left side of my back and mostly in my upper left chest. And the bigger question, why would an almost 65 year old man decide that taking up skating is a good idea? That being said, it has now become a challenge and I doubt I'll quit. I will be more careful though.,
  15. Well, as most of you know, I sold my Star Venture a while back but due to winter weather, it has been in my garage since selling it. The new owner finally got a break from work and the weather cooperated just enough for him to pick it up yesterday. It was sad to see it go but it needs and deserved to be ridden. I don't know yet what the future may hold. I tell myself that I won't be buying another bike for a while and yet in the back of my mind, I'm not so sure. At any rate, if I buy one, it won't be new and probably just something to kick around on for weekend rides. Our long trips may be over. But who knows at this point. Anyway, the bike was actually purchased by one of our members, Mike, known here as @N3FOL is the new owner. Great guy and I hope he gets many miles of smiles out of it. Please join me in congratulating him on his new to him 2018 Star Venture. He got a great deal. Once he committed to it, I never rode it again because it was his bike, not mine. It left here yesterday with a grand total of 1173 miles on it. He and his wife stopped last night and spent the night in Akron, OH but should be home later this afternoon. It was cold and raining so he finally ended up trailering it home but I'm sure he'll be enjoying the ride very soon.
  16. Looks good. The wobbling would scare me but I would either get used to it or figure out why. Either way, looks like a good plan.
  17. I'll post something soon. It has really dropped off the past couple of years. May start doing it every other year but then again, may continue as we have. Decision not made yet. Input welcome.
  18. That link isn't working for some reason. Not sure which post he was linking to but here is some informartion on his repair, https://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?132400-RSV-Repaired-Rear-Shock-2000-Mile-Update
  19. I've always used the 4T-Racing. Great oil. As far as filters. I've used several different ones but sort of settled on the ... I think it's Champion...that has the hex nut welded on the end for easy removal. Swapping through synthetic will be no problem at all with the little bit of conventional oil left in it.
  20. Glad to hear that she is doing better. That is scary stuff. It just goes to show that we need to do our very best to value and appreciate every day we have on this earth. I pray that you have many more years together.
  21. I was told that they no longer make them but I'm finding them on the Flanders website so I'm not sure. The part number should be 650-08761. Here is a link to the Flanders page: http://www.sideroadcycles.com/ImportedMotorcycles/ImportHandlebars/ImportMore/ImportRoadG.html
  22. I've run synthetics, Mobil 1 for Motorccyles in my case, since 1999 and have never had an issue.
  23. That looks interesting. There is another one too that is very similar and also has some nice routes, user submitted, already included. I'll have to find it again. I had it downloaded but apparently deleted it at some point.
  24. Freebird still does.
  25. I put the Flanders bars on my '99 and really liked them a lot. I later bought an '07 and put the RSTD bars on it. They were fine also. I actually liked the Flanders just a tad bit better but I don't think that they make them any longer and you can probably pick up a set of RSTD bars a bit cheaper. Either work well. I didn't have to replace the cables for either installation but I later did replace everything with Stainless Steel.
