  1. I honestly don't know as I've never used them on a first gen. Reports are though that they are easier to install. Not sure why. I know that they are supposed to be a perfect fit though.
  2. Did you know that you can use second gen covers? They are actually preferred by most people and likely easier to find.

  5. The 20 post minimum was initiated during a time when we were getting slammed with spam. I've got a much better handle on that now so I just reduced the number of posts required. If I did it right, you should be able to post the pictures now.
  6. We used to have a member here who went by Wild Hair. Sure miss that guy. He found some boots off a rear engine snapper mower that worked great. Never saw a part number but he warned to get the long ones, about 10", and they worked great.

  8. I have one. Actually had one almost just like that at one time but it finally fell apart and I bought one made by DR Power. They work well. The one I have now is easier to dump though. The one you are looking at doesn't dump well but I just built a big box for it and didn't try to dump it, just slid the box out and dumped it that way. I don't use it every time I mow because I have a zero turn and that defeats the purpose of a zero turn. I use it 3 or 4 times a year though, especially if the grass gets too high. Mostly use it for leaves as you intend to. The leaves have to be really dry. If they are damp at all, it will stop. up the hose and you will constantly be unplugging it. The DR Power has a larger hose and doesn't stop up as easily.
  9. 32 Degree and snow on the ground this morning in Ohio also. Snow is pretty much gone now but still COLD.
  10. I'm kind of on the same page as Cowpuc on the compression issue. Having owned an '83, 88, 89, two 99's and an '05, I have NEVER had a compression issue on these bikes. Can it happen? Sure it can. If you are having some major issues then of course it would be worth checking. Everybody knows that compression is very important but it's such a rare problem on these bikes that it is certainly not the first thing I would recommend checking. Like Put, I have always checked my carb sync a couple times a year. Usually doesn't need much tweaking if any but it literally takes about 10 minutes to check them.

  13. Sorry folks. Due to this Covid-19 issue and the fact that Ohio is still shut down for the most part, we have decided to cancel this event at this time. The restaurants and etc. will likely be open again by the date but there will be serious social distancing rules and etc. still in place. We may try to schedule something later in the year. Will let you know if and when that happens.
  14. Actually, the Royal Star Venture already has 32mm carbs. He is talking about the Royal Star. A few people have updated the carbs to 32mm but out required some work. I believe that Starfan had a manifold made to allow him to out 32mm carbs on a Royal Star. The limiting factor is then there air flow. The Royal Star had a small air filter and it requires a different air intake system to utilize the larger carbs. I think that Barons used to sell a "Big Air Kit" for that purpose.

  16. I assume, since you are using a pump, that you are riding a RSV. That being the case, you will have to experiment a bit to decide what works best for you. It depends upon several factors like your weight, passengers weight, etc. I found that 30 - 35 lbs. was a good number that worked whether I was riding alone or with a passenger. When pulling a trailer, I upped it to around 40 lbs.

  19. I had a Corvair in the summer of '73. I had bought a new Chevelle SS 454 and didn't want to drive it to the construction site where I was working so found an old Corvair for $200.00 that I bought for a work car. I had the same problem you did with the blowby. A older guy that I worked with told me to let him drive it home and he would fix it that night. I did that. He brought it back the next day and had added a rubber hose to the dip stick tube and rani it to a one gallon oil can turned on it's side. He ran another tube from the oil can to the hole where you put oil in it. So the oil blew into the can and ran back into the engine. I laughed like heck but hey, it worked and I drove it that was from about a year. . Never had any problems with it and sold it the same way. It was just a base Corvair though with a three speed on the floor.

  21. OK folks. This thread continues to be purely political. Some of you cry about freedom of speech but this is a private club and there are rules that are in place to prevent the splintering of the group due to political discussion. You can like it or not like it but the rules are clearly stated and anytime somebody joins, there is a thread that must be read before you can continue. It clearly states that political discussion is not allowed on this site. I created this forum primarily for motorcycle discussion. I have stated this many times over the years. This site was created to discussion our common interest in motorcycles, NOT to discuss politics. It was created to bring people together, not tear them apart. It was NOT just my decision. It was voted on by the membership at least twice and the consensus was overwhelmingly to prohibit political discussion. There are members here who take great exception to some of the opinions expressd but respect the rules, bite their tongues, and move on. I have let this go on for far too long. This thread is being shutdown and will be deleted once people have had time to read this message. There are hundreds if not thousands of places on the Internet to discuss politics. This is not one of those places. I sincerely hope that you all understand this and choose to remain a part of our group gut if feel strongly that your freedom of speech is being impeded upon, then you need to leave. You will be missed and I am sorry you feel that way but the rules are and always have been very clear. I hope that you can find a place that is more in line with your beliefs. If other threads are started to replace this one, they will be deleted immediately or at least as soon as I see them.

  23. What started out as a discussion about Covid-19 has sunk to discussion about abortion and other topics. If it continues, this thread WILL be deleted. It should have already been but I've tried to be patient. That patience is wearing thin.
  24. Make sure that the rubber boots on top of the carbs are have not slipped up on one or more of the carbs. That will cause exactly what you describe. I found that over tightening them would cause them to slide up and then it would suck air there.
  25. Folks, I know that there are some who don't like the rule but it is the rule. This is purely political and you know full well it is not allowed here.
