Bluetooth communication - my Cardo Freecom review
Freebird replied to VentureFar's topic in Watering Hole
From what I understand, and I may be wrong, it emits sound through the helmet. Apparently no actual speakers are needed. -

Interesting. Not cheap. I would like to see some independent reveiews before spending that kind of money. -
What does this button do? Power Port
Freebird replied to luvmy40's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
The switch came with the OEM passing lamp kit. If you don't have the lights, you won't have the switch. Even if you have the lights, it would depend upon the installer using the switch. They should have but you never know. -

Condor is correct. -
Not sure about coffee but I've ridden about 125 miles for coffee and pie.

Well, it wasn't a Venture but I've done a couple of things to the Ultra Classic. Added a KuryAkyn trunk relocator/slider. Allows me to slide the trunk as much as 4" back or anywhere in between. Added a luggage rack with LED tail/brake light. Added Vance and Hines Moster Rounds. The guy I bought it from had already changed the mufflers. He said that they were Vance and Hines but I couldn't find any markings on them and they were a little loud for my preference. I found a used set of Monster Rounds here locally and got a great deal on them. Had them on the Road Glide and really liked them so pulled the trigger. Have a wider windshield on the way and also KuryAkyn rider and passenger drink holders. That should finish me up.

Bought it on Etsy. Link is higher up in this thread.

LOL....looks just like you.

I had them on a 2013 Harley Road Glide and they sounded nice. Not obnoxiously loud but a good deep tone.

2019 SpeedoDRD Re-design

Behind the left side cover. -
For the first time in a couple of years, Eileen and I finally got out for a decent ride yesterday. Not that far, I think we did about 150 miles, but it sure felt good. The Ultra Classic was comfortable and doesn't need much to make it a good bike for us. I've already added the highway pegs and luggage rack and it came with most of the other things that I needed such as the riders backrest and mini ape hanger bars. Those things make it very comfortable for me. It's a little tight in the passenger area so this morning I ordered a trunk relocation kit so that it can be slid back just a bit to give Eileen more room. I ordered a wider windshield about a week ago and it should be here in about another week maybe. Otherwise, I am happy with the bike. The exhaust is loud when you first start it but about right once you get moving. Gearing seems much taller than the Road Glide did but that may be me just not remembering. It turns about 2000 RPM at 60 MPH. Just kind of thumps along and it feels good but I found that you have to downshift when in the hills and best just to stay in 5th gear under those conditions. Definitely doesn't have the power that the Star Venture had but has plenty for us. Overall, it was a nice ride. We needed it.

I'm having fun with this. I stopped by the Harley store yesterday to pick up a luggage rack light that I had ordered. I put the mask on just to mess with a lady I know who works there. There was a young boy, probably 8 to 10 years old who was in front of me. He turned around and literally JUMPED when he saw me. It was funny as heck. He then started laughing when he figured out it is a mask. I would have been really hurt if I had really looked like that though.

Eluder Questions
Freebird replied to Bikecurious's topic in Star Venture and Eluder Tech Talk ( '18 - Present)
I think it would be possible but haven't tried it. I obtained a set of Vance and Hines monsters ovals that I was going to try but they are too wide to fit into the saddlebag cutouts. So I never looked any further. -
For what it's worth, I too am a huge fan of the 870. Mossbergs are good but I just love the 870s.

I found them one Etsy. You take a selfie of yourself and send it in. Here's the link. https://www.etsy.com/listing/784872986/customized-funny-face-mask-protective

Pilot screw cap removal
Freebird replied to jryan's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I've always been able to pop them off pretty easily with a long slender screwdriver. Can't usually find them afterwards but I never put them back on anyway. -
I don't wear one often but sometimes I'm asked to by a customer. So....I can now at LEAST freak them out.

Eluder Questions
Freebird replied to Bikecurious's topic in Star Venture and Eluder Tech Talk ( '18 - Present)
As for the heat, I've found that different people have different tolerances for it. I've heard some people complain about the heat from the RSV and it always kind of surprised me. I never felt that the RSV ran hot in any way. I will say that if you ever felt that there was too much heat coming from the RSV, then you will NOT like the new Star Venture or Eluder. Now I will also point out that I have never ridden an Elder. I owned a Star Venture though and can tell you that it is without a doubt a hotter running bike than the RSV. It almost has to be. 400 more ccs and air cooled as opposed to the water cooled RSV. That being said, in may opinion it is not excessive. It's a motorcycle and on a hot day you will feel some heat. Different riders seem to feel more than others. I agree that it probably has to do with your inseam length or something. I am tall and my feet are usually out on the highway pegs and the heat doesn't really bother me. When stopped, you feel it much more. I have owned RSVs, Star Ventures, Harley Road Glide and now a Harley Ultra Classic. I think that the Harleys are slightly hotter than the Star Venture; It can be uncomfortable if sitting too long with it idling but I try not to get in those situations. It can happen though. -
From what I understand, it can change daily. I found this on the web. “The infection rate formula will be 10 per 100,000 on a seven-day rolling average or 10 percent of the total population positive on a seven-day rolling average. So any state that has an infection rate above that would require a 14-day quarantine.” “As of today, the states that are above that level are Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Washington, Utah, Texas. That’s as of today. The states themselves can change as the infection rate changes and we will update daily what states are above that infection rate.”

At the top right, click on Setings. Then in the left menu, edit profile. Custom User Title is what you are looking for.
-
Have never tinted one but you can buy a tinted shield from Clearview Shields. EDIT: Not sure that they have one yet for the Eluder. I know that they do for the Star Venture. You can check with them though.
-
Yea, you are probably right. They tend to total them pretty quickly. All that plastic adds up to a good bit of money.
-
Glad you are OK. Damage to the bike looks fairly minor but who know how the insurance will rate it.
-
LOL...did manage to ride about 50 miles yesterday when I rode over to Medina to transfer the title and get the tags.

All chromed up and ready to go
Freebird replied to JR333's topic in Star Venture and Eluder Tech Talk ( '18 - Present)
You have it looking great. I stuck with the black Yamaha stuff when I had my '18 but had mixed feelings about it. Love the chrome.
