  1. Hey, have fun. If the weather had been nice, I would loved to have ridden down and said hi in person. RandyA
  2. I installed Spybot awhile back and my frustration is running over. On almost everything I open, whether it is ebay, paypal or many other common sites, I get the box popup that tells me that it may be a bad site. I have to go through the allow routine and it does not matter if I check always allow a particular site or what ever, it KEEPS coming up. To find something and pay for it I will have to go through this process over and over again. I looked at uninstalling Spybot, but you have to go through all the stuff in the immunization and quarantine section and I am not sure what to purge. Any suggestions? RandyA
  3. This is true. I can unclip the side panels and remove the grills on each side of the radiator in a couple of minutes and have easy access to plugs and carbs. The other thing is, I think the Venture engine is a beautiful engine and should be seen. That is one of the things I like about the 2nd gen. RandyA
  4. Thanks. I tend to be a little anal about symmetry and if there is one thing 1st gen's do not have it is symmetry in the views of the engine. When I painted my bike, I also painted all the stock lowers but I have no plans to ever put them on. I think it helps make the bike look more like a sport/touring bike. RandyA
  5. This is what I did and have yet to feel any discomfort from heat and when it is hot, I ride with shorts on. I know this bike pretty good as I have put 135,000 miles on it in 17 years. RandyA
  6. Dan, are you having a problem with the clutch releasing? Once the bike is warmed up a little and the clutch disc's have been broken loose, does it still jump a little when you put the bike in gear? When I initially start my bike, I will pull the clutch in and goose the throttle a couple of times and that will break the clutch disc's loose and it will go into gear without sounding like a thrashing machine that first time. If the disc's are not releasing good, it will make shifting a little more difficult, but you should also be able to notice the bike wanting to pull a little while sitting on level ground and in gear. Another thing, do you ever shift without using the clutch? I will occasionally shift 3rd thru 5th without the clutch and can be smoother than using the clutch. My concern is, do you have a clutch releasing problem or do you have a shift linkage problem? Generally, if the clutch slave is not leaking, it should be able to still have a full range of motion unless there is air in the system and needs bleeding. RandyA
  7. Thanks James. I just wanted it noted that it is restricted so more will be more comfortable in participating. RandyA
  8. That is probably one of the better looking TCI's that I have seen. Most look much worse than this, even good working ones. RandyA
  9. It is my understanding that only members can see the map and the information on it, is this correct? I ask this because of phone numbers being listed and the pin location, which for me is half way up my driveway. If this is true and everyone knew this, more members may be a little more comfortable about listing their personal information. RandyA
  10. How did you pay for these parts? Anything I buy over the internet I will either use Paypal with a credit card or a straight out purchase with a credit card. I DO NOT use my debit card. If I have a problem with a purchase, I will take it up with the credit card company and they will step in. RandyA
  11. This was forwarded to me by another member that also has a KLR. RandyA http://www.klr650.net/forums/showthread.php?t=110552
  12. I live here and know some really great roads. If you ever think about coming this way again, give me a call and maybe we can show you around some great rides and places to eat. RandyA
  13. It won't let me open in Adobe Reader and says it does not support this file. I had to go back to Windows to open it. This is a repair manual I just bought and downloaded for an 02 Infinity that I just picked up that has a blown head gasket. I can get it open now, but I still have to maneuver around to do it. RandyA
  14. I know some of you guys can spend the big bucks on a GPS, but I just can not convince myself I want to do that. A couple of years ago I bought a Magellan Roadmate that I got off one of the daily deal sites that was refurbished for about $50. It has worked real good, but now the speaker is not working. I am looking for a replacement or a speaker fix to at least salvage it. One question I have is I see some advertised with anti-glare screens and wonder if any of you can say as to whether that is effective on a bike. I know that I sometimes have a difficult time seeing the screen on mine when then sun is behind me. I know that there are motorcycle specific GPS's available, but I am hoping to find something that works ok without the big bucks. RandyA
  15. I downloaded the Adobe Reader and can now can get the file open, but the blue screen is still popping up first, but now I can minimize it and the PDF file is behind it. So, at least now I can get into the file. Sometimes I can do ok when trying to figure out some of these glitches, but I sure wish I knew more than I do about these things. The great part is how helpful you folks are on here. RandyA
  16. On some of the videos and documents I try to open, I get this blue screen called Windows Media Center. It has various media things noted, but there is nothing that I can find that allows me to go any further. I just downloaded a PDF file in my documents and it shows it is saved and available, but I can not get it opened. What program am I missing or what am I doing wrong? Thanks for your help and suggestions. RandyA
  17. This looks like a 4 brush starter as it does not have the screws in the side. RandyA http://www.ebay.com/itm/97-Yamaha-Royal-Star-Venture-XVZ1300-STARTER-STARTING-MOTOR-/310655456399?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item485482148f&vxp=mtr
  18. Shane is doing very well considering the extent of his injury. He still has a bit of a limp but is getting his strength back. If you are going to be looking for a real estate agent, my sister and her husband have their own company and are tops in sales in the area. Just let me know. RandyA
  19. If you are only putting 2000 miles on the bike in a year and still riding it 3 to 4 times a week, you are taking very short rides. To me, this is very hard on your oil as you are not routinely getting the bike up to a good operating temperature and baking out the moisture. Given this, I would change the oil at least two times a year, or every 1,000 miles. I would be more comfortable if you were putting 10,000 miles on the bike a year and changing it every 5,000 miles, even with dino oil. Routine short trips are hard on any vehicle. RandyA

  21. This is my Lady Linda and me two years ago at Lake Erie while at MD. RandyA
  22. I have a couple of copies of Blue Highways and have read it several times. Even though it is 30 years old, it is still great reading. He spent a couple days in Jonesboro, TN, where I went to high school and he told stories that I had never heard before. RandyA
  23. Look at this. RandyA http://tazforum.thetazzone.com/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=14071
  24. I don't think I would want to join any site that would invite me. RandyA
