  1. The thought crossed my mind, but I did not want to take anything away from Vogal this year. I have also considered suggesting next year be the Mark Hopey, Warrior Memorial Rally. I know that either way, if a bunch of us got together and had a real fun time, Mark would be pleased. If there ever was a fun guy, it was Mark. The thought of asking if anyone wanted to get together sometime in mid September this year has crossed my mind. Asheville in September is a beautiful time of the year even though it would be too early for the turning of the trees. But, riding the Blue Ridge Parkway on a bike in October can be dangerous as many are looking at everything but motorcycles. RandyA
  2. The DEKA that fits your bike. RandyA
  3. While at Vogal this year, there were several that asked if we were having an Asheville get together next year. At this point, I know I sure want to. It was great to be able to see some old friends and make some new friends at Vogal and it sure did make me start thinking about next year. As some may know I was the one that primarily put together Asheville after our first year when Mini muffin helped me get it started. Last year, due to several issues I was dealing with, I was not sure what I could do and Warrior (Mark ) stepped in and did a great job. Unfortunately, not long after the Asheville event, we lost Mark. For those of you that have never been or heard about Asheville, in the off year with Vogal, we have a get together in Asheville, NC at the KOA east campground in Swannanoa, NC. It is a great place to have an event as the campground is great and we always have a bunch of campers that are all together near a beautiful lilly pond. They have nice cabins and best of all, some great places to ride. Also, there are some great places to eat. Generally, the weather has been very comfortable, especially for camping. The Asheville event has always intentionally been a very laid back affair. About the only thing that we kind of schedule is breakfast and that is because we usually have a pancake fixin and after that we may go off in different groups on rides. Sometimes the ladies may be a little tired of riding and will do some shopping or whatever as there are always some cages available. To describe Asheville is like an extended meet & eat. There is no registration, all though I do publish an ICE (In Case of Emergency) list for those that respond. If you want a door prize, you will need to bring your own. It is very informal and just a great event to have a lot of fun. So, for those that have any questions, comments or suggestions, let er rip. As usual, as we get closer, we will start looking at dates that work best for the most people. RandyA
  4. Thanks, Patti. I do have to say that Linda loves to meet the folks in our group. She is very easy going and everyone makes her feel like she fits right in. RandyA
  5. Yeah, Skid's something else. RandyA
  6. One thing that I feel also helps is to take a plastic wire tie and connect it around the wiring harness going to the CMU and pull it up some so there is not as much weight pulling on the CMU connection. RandyA
  7. Linda and I were only there on Friday afternoon and Saturday thru Dillard House, but we had a great time, even though we caged it. The weather for while we were there was actually better than we expected, even though it was probably record low temps. It was good to see some old friends and meet some new ones. I particularly enjoyed meeting Cowpuc and Cheryl. They are very interesting and truly enjoying life on the road. I think they got a taste of what a crazy bunch we are and will fit right in. I hope everyone made it home ok. RandyA
  8. You beat me Carl, I was just about to say the same thing. RandyA
  9. Uhhh, what shaft? RandyA
  10. Hey Hawk, welcome to the forum and we hope you join. It will be the best $12 you will ever spend on your bike. Before doing any carb adjustments, put about a half can of Sea Foam in your gas and let it run for a while then set over night and then ride it like you stole it. If you don't know, these bikes like to be run. It won't hurt it to hit the red line on the tach. RandyA
  11. They may also be smaller in diameter. You should be able to get 42 to 46 on gas mileage on your bike unless you are routinely running down the interstate at 80 mph+. RandyA
  12. Poor man's V-Boost that someone has installed? How does the bike run between 5,000 and 8,000 RPM's? RandyA
  13. The bike in your profile is an 86. The YICS was discontinued after 85. RandyA
  14. Sometimes women are overly suspicious of their husbands. When Adam stayed out very late for a few nights, Eve became upset. "You're running around with other women," she charged. "You're being unreasonable," Adam responded. "You're the only woman on earth." The quarrel continued until Adam fell asleep, only to be awakened by someone poking him in the chest. It was Eve. "What do you think you're doing?" Adam demanded. "Counting your ribs," said Eve
  15. If you are going to bleed your bakes, remember that the rear and the left front caliper are linked. Also, do not fill your reservoir to the top as it will cause the brakes to lock up as the brake fluid gets hot and expands. It is a good thing to have an 8mm wrench with you when you take a ride after bleeding your brakes. RandyA
  16. I find that I always get a wave back when I stand up on the seat and wave with both arms. Hey sys, it may be time to get your meds reviewed. RandyA
  17. Well, if everything falls into place, Linda and I will be there Friday afternoon. I reserved the last room today at the Season's Inn in Blairsville for Friday night. Our plans are to stop by there and check in and come on down to Vogal. For Saturday, we are planning to go to Dillard House with everyone and then back home. We are just coming to be able to meet some old and new friends as we are going to be in the cage. I really wanted to bring the bike and let Yammer Dan check out the back of the bike with the V-Max final drive in it, but with the cool temps and the chance of rain, I will leave it in the garage this time. RandyA
  18. I was in that bunch chasing the UPS truck and it was obvious he knew the road a lot better than I did. RandyA
  19. Must be an "inside story". RandyA
  20. Actually, Canadians are Americans as are Mexicans and every country to the tip of South America. We should refer to ourselves as United Statesicans. But in our arrogance, WE are the Americans if we are from the United States of America. Good post Dan. RandyA
  21. Two years ago Linda and I took the little camper up to Mt Pisgah on the Blue Ridge Parkway. For dinner she had cooked a skillet of potato's, onions and kabasah sausage. She was cooking it on one of those small gas burners that screw on to a small gas tank. I did not realize that is was not real level and all of a sudden, it slid off and hit the gravel. The look on her face was devastating and she wanted to cry. I just scooped up everything and went over to the water facet and started rinsing everything off and it was like panning for gold, except it was gravel. Once everything was as clean as I could get it. I just added a little olive oil and put it back on the leveled burner. After everything was hot again, we sat down and ate it and it was delicious. Yep, there was a gritty spot or two, but it was still good. It actually made for some special memories from camping up on the side of the mountain. RandyA
  22. It is my understanding that Yamaha designed and built the High Output engines for the first SHO Taurus Fords. RandyA
  23. Yep.
  24. Unless there has been another washout, 441 is open and I have been through there since it has been fixed. RFandyA
