  1. I occasionally go on the Maxima site and there are some jerks on there. They love to jump on newbies anytime they can. There always seems to be more griping than helping each other. I feel fortunate that we have this site and it is ran the way it is. RandyA
  2. No room for error RandyA http://www.wimp.com/groundflight/
  3. Hope you have great Birthday and many more. RandyA
  4. After this last tip over on my 83 Venture and how much discomfort I have been in from the fall on my ribs, and almost hurting Linda, I am thinking about doing a trike job on the 96 1500 Goldwing that I have. I need to pull the engine anyway and fix the broken gears related to the starter. What I am looking for is some info on anyone that has triked a Goldwing and see how they did the suspension and find out what differential is a good candidate. I have access to a couple of Mustang II rearends or maybe pick up one from an old rear drive Toyota. It has been a while since I did some shade tree engineering. I did put a 350 Chevy engine/350 Turbo trans in my 72 240Z Datsun and put 154,000 miles on it after the swap. I also put a straight six Chevy engine in a Volvo and it turned out good. I tried to Google doing a Goldwing trike and got either trikes for sale or kits that cost $6,000+. Anyway, at this point I am just in the thinking stage and looking at future riding. I have no desire to fix the Goldwing for me to keep as to me it would be even worse to handle at low speeds with me being so inseam challenged. But with it having reverse, it may be a good candidate for a trike.. RandyA
  5. Wonder what happened to Dave? RandyA
  6. John, welcome to our site and we hope you join. It will by far be the best $12 you will ever spend on the bike. We also want to see pictures. RandyA
  7. All I can find on there is trucks. RandyA
  8. I have Farm Bureau on my house, cars and bike and they have been very good to me and are far cheaper than any other that I have found. RandyA
  9. I coughed a couple of times yesterday and I do believe I did turn a little blue. It hurt so bad that I could not take another breath for a while. RandyA
  10. Are you sure you are opening the drain screws and not the air/fuel mix screws? RandyA
  11. Had a consult with the surgeon today and the by-pass is scheduled for Thursday and they won't let her come home until after the surgery. They are trying to get her sugar to stabilize at a good level. She has been in real good spirits, but today has been tough on her. She wants to get this over with and start the healing process. RandyA
  12. I just left the hospital so maybe we both can get some rest. Linda is in great spirits and wants to get this over with. I am to be there at about 9am so the Dr can give us an update. As I understand it right now, the concern on a by-pass is there is no real connection point, especially on one end. It appears Linda has had a problem with this artery for some time and it has just recently become an issue. I want to thank everyone for the prayers and best wishes for both of us. We had a very nice visit from Steve(SGN) and Ann this evening and a call from Woody and she was tickled to talk to him. I will try to keep you posted as I know more. RandyA
  13. There is no doubt that Mark was special. I don't think that I have ever met anyone that smiled and laughed as much as Warrior did. He was a blast to be around. RandyA
  14. An 84 VR, as he noted, should have a tip over switch. His symptoms still sound like he tripped the kill switch to me. RandyA
  15. It started out last Sunday when Linda and I went for a short ride, just to get out on a beautiful fall afternoon. After stopping at a store, we got back on the bike and as we started to pull out turning to the right, I stalled the bike. We did the slow tip over and I hit the ground hard with my arm under my right chest. I could not get up by myself and also could not breath. I finally got up on my hands and knees and two guys came over to help me get up. They also picked the bike up for us. Linda got a skinned place on her elbow the size of a quarter. I ended up getting two X-rays, but the VA could not find a break in my ribs, but I was told by another doctor that only about 50% of rib cracks can be seen. It is now Sat morning and I am still in a lot of pain and a simple hiccup feels like getting punched in the ribs by Mike Tyson. I was diagnosed with a chest wall contusion. Now, that is the good part of the week. A couple of weeks ago, while at work, Linda experienced some chest discomfort for a few minutes and Friday a week ago, she had some dye work done to see blood flow around her heart. While waiting for the results, she went to work Wed and ended up having a heart attack. They did the probe thing to see if they could put a stent in and can not find her Left Anterior Descending Coronary Artery which is also known as the "Widow-maker", due to a problem with this artery being so deadly. They ran another dye test and it also does not show this artery passing blood. So, on Monday, her team of surgeons will make a decision on what to do. She is still in the hospital and if they do a by-pass, she will be in there until about this coming Friday. She is in great spirits, but she is scared and so am I. Randy & Linda
  16. Put the bike up on the center stand and you will be where it needs to be stretched the least. Hook the big "C" shaped bracket first at the top, letting it hang down. You can also put some vise grips near the hook of the spring and that makes it easier when using a screw driver to pop it over the latch at the bottom of the stand.. RandyA
  17. Check your kill switch. RandyA
  18. Dan, I hope somewhere along Patsy's situation someone will be able to help her. We will keep praying that something helps. Randy & Linda
  19. Scott, we wish you the best. I am down to getting two injections in my right eye every six weeks. At first it was a bit difficult, but now it is no big deal. Unfortunately, there is no improvement for me. Keep the faith and I pray it all works out good for you. RandyA
  20. I wish these included the service manuals. I could use the one on the 1500 I have. These are parts manuals. Thanks for posting these. RandyA
  21. I must have missed something. Why did the bike have fire extinguisher agent on it that had to be cleaned off? RandyA
  22. Been there done that. I was at work and someone came in and told me my bike had been knocked over. The idiot that did it denied it, but fortunately for me, there was a camera on the company property that recorded it. After they finally admitted it, their insurance, State Farm, sent a rep out and looked at the bike. They ended up totaling it and gave me $3,264 after they sold it back to me for $200. I straightened the fairing braces that were bent to one side and did some touch up painting and was good to go. It was still a painful experience but in reality, that was over half again what I had paid for the bike back in 96 and I am still riding the bike. I hope you can get your situation worked out. RandyA
  23. It is supposed to be 85 degrees here tomorrow. RandyA
  24. It helps to note what bike you are talking about as not everyone will take the time to look at your profile. You can also note it where your name is. We hope you join and it will be the best $12 you will ever spend on your bike. RandyA
  25. Sounds to me like you have one or more pilot jets that are clogged. I think peder is referencing the air/fuel mixture screws, which are not the pilot jets. Also, small holes in the diaphragms can have an impact on the bike. RandyA
