  1. Are you in the VA system? RandyA
  2. And, you need to make sure your charging system is up to par. RandyA
  3. I saw that also and was wondering about it. RandyA
  4. I was about 47 years old and went into a fast food restaurant and when the 16 year old looking girl started to ring us up, she looked up and asked me if I get the senior discount. I said "sure" and the wife looked at me with one of those "what?" looks. I know there are some seniors on here and wondered if they remember their first time being asked this. RandyA
  5. In a few more months I will have had my 83 Venture 18 years. During this time I have put about 142,200 miles on it and the only serious maintenance was changing the transmission to a MKII, due to 2nd gear. How about others? RandyA
  6. Yes. and how much is an imperial gallon for you? Right now, a gallon of gas here is about $3 and in some places lower. RandyA
  7. Yeah, he bought Rooster's red and white 2nd gen that had the sidecar, but he did not take the side car. RandyA
  8. Hey, when ISN"T nap time for you? RandyA
  9. I think Dan is just trying to get over the embarrassment of his decision. RandyA
  10. My grandson Shane may be buying the 83 Venture Royale from Steve Neal, SGN, after Steve went a 2nd gen. Shane rode my bike to work a while back and said he liked it. For many of you that may remember, Shane had a very serious crash on his CBR 600 crotch rocket and had very serious leg injuries. My son Brian has an 86 so that would make three generations. This may be a first on here. RandyA
  11. There were no bids and I am pretty sure it will be listed again. I bought the last one after notifying a couple of folks that had expressed an interest, but they did not bid. I got everything for $49 plus shipping. RandyA
  12. Don and Susan were the very first folks from Venturerider that I met, just before the first Vogal. It was in Birmingham, Al when I took a ride after working on my bike. When I went to the 1st Vogal, they were gracious enough to let me stay in a spare bedroom in their cabin. Great folks for sure. RandyA
  13. Hope everything goes good for you Larry. RandyA
  14. I have also noticed this and I also feel that even when there are folks on here, many may be reading, but not responding. I recently posted a question about a 1st gen/2nd gen shock question and I thought there would be some interest. But, I received 194 views and not one response, not one single response. I don't know what we need to do, but I applaud you for expressing your concern. RandyA
  15. These transmissions can be used on the 83/85 bikes as a replacement for the 2nd gear problem. The gear ratios are wider spaced, giving a higher 5th gear. They can also be used in the earlier RSTD's that have a very high 5th gear that would make 5th gear more usable, especially with a V-Max gear, which is 10% lower geared. Are you confused yet? The transmissions on the 85's, after serial number 1403 and up, have been pretty much bullet proof with the exception of the pins coming out on the front of the shifter tumbler. This was fixed on the 2nd gen transmissions with a cast part that did not have the pins. When a pin comes out, you can not shift above that gear. RandyA
  16. Pinwall has an complete 04 Venture trans listed with a starting bid of $59.95 for anyone interested and has everything for a 1st gen. 17. I went out a while ago and drained the water hose and put an insulated bucket over the spigot that sticks up about a foot out in the yard. It is supposed to be down to about 18 degrees tomorrow night. Yuck. But, it is supposed to be back in the lower 60's in a few days. RandyA
  18. I am curious as to how many veterans used any or all of their education GI Bill. I got out in Jan 73 and worked a couple of years and when I got laid off, I started back to college. I had went only one quarter before I joined the USAF and when I went back, I was able to get my BS degree from East Tennessee State University and about 1/3 of a Masters. Just wondered what others did. RandyA
  19. Thanks to everyone of our veterans. I did my four years in the USAF from 69/73 and am so glad I made that decision. My dad joined the Navy when he was 16 years old and was in Times Square when Pearl Harbor was bombed. He was in Guadal Canal when the war ended. He died in 2000 and I regret so much that we did not sit down and talk more about his experiences. RandyA
  20. Uhhhh... Do you mean gone gone or just gone home? RandyA
  21. Like I said before, I learn something on here everyday. RandyA
  22. You did not state what bike, which would help if you put in your header, but a MKII and a 2nd gen does not need to have the splines greased on the pumpkin end. It is lubricated through the grease in the pumpkin. The drive shaft and seal should push into the collar. RandyA
  23. Looks like you will be coming right thru our area in NE TN down I81. If you can keep us posted on when you will be coming thru here, maybe we can get some locals together and do a meal or whatever. This would be in the area of Bristol, Kingsport and Johnson City. RandyA
  24. Or you can go to weather.com and put in your address and several others that will up to a 10 day weather forecast. RandyA
  25. My 83 has a box. RandyA
