I stay away from Gulf Shores, my ex lives there now. Other than that, it's a nice place and lots of good places to eat. Yamagirl lives near there and maybe she can chime in and help some. RandyA

That's interesting, I ordered something that came from China about the same time. I got it about a week ago. RandyA

On the 15th I ordered an ignition switch for my John Deere lawn tractor and the following is the current tracking info. You have to start at the bottom of the list and go up to see where it has been. I hope it gets here by spring. And they wonder why people don't use the postal service. I think a closed loop fuel injection system from a small car like a Honda and they should be plentiful in junk yards. It could be the multi-port type or the single throttle body type. I think it is very doable. RandyA

About six years ago Nationwide Insurance paid me over $3,400 for my 83 when they deemed it was totaled from a pickup truck knocking it over. Now that it is officially classified as an antique, it should be worth more. RandyA

Not sure about the axle on the MKII forks, but the wheels are the same. When ever I was going to put a new tire on my 83, I swapped with my son's 86 by swapping rotors and everything worked fine. I do know that when I go to the MKII forks, I will not be able to use the rotor/caliper covers. RandyA

When I received this fork set, it had a really thick fork brace and I was wondering if that was going to be a problem on repositioning the tubes. RandyA -

See, that brought back another memory. As a teen of the 60's, I never got to wear bell bottom pants because when I bought them and had them shortened to fit, they were not bell bottoms any more. RandyA -
I have an MKII chin fairing somewhere that I bought to put on my 83, but ended up doing the open thing with the bikini side panels. I will see if I can find it and get back with you. RandyA

Yep, I know, I have a black Infiniti I35 that looks dirty 5 minutes after washing it and in the spring, with the pollen, it looks yellow tinted. RandyA

Air box mod?
Venturous Randy replied to tucson_sailors's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The neat thing is the TCI can be relocated to the top of the airbox and no wiring modifications have to be done. When I moved mine, I originally put it in the radio hole, but then I moved it to the airbox when I went to the MKII TCI. I found that when I set one of the mounting points on the edge of my battery, which tilted the TCI down some, that it worked nicely. I think most of us relocate them more for them being kept dry than the engine heat. RandyA -
For several years now I have been looking at used Miata's but unless someone wanted a war pension for them, they were usually pretty ragged out. Today, Linda and I found one locally for a good price and took a look at it and it looked a lot better than I expected. The guy that had it had just gotten it from his mother who has had it for the last five years. It looks totally unmolested. He said the timing belt had been changed about 20,000 miles ago and it had a new alternator and battery. The interior and the top looked to be in very good condition. The two things I am not real crazy about is it is white, but the paint is in very good condition and it is an automatic, which Linda wanted because she says she could never learn how to drive a stick. We took it for a short ride and it seemed to be very solid. The engine was quiet and the trans shifted nice and firm. I did smell the trans fluid before I started it and it smelled good. My hope is to upgrade the wheels and tires as it still has the stock ones and I want to add a trailer hitch so I can pull the Time Out camper behind it. With all the upgrades I am doing to my bike and getting this and being retired, I am really looking for spring. I can not post any pictures yet as I have not picked it up and he has not officially gotten the title yet, as it is in the mail where he transferred it over from his mother. I know I will never find another website like this one, but if any of you have any good suggestions, let me know. RandyA

You are probably correct on the spring height, it is just taller than it was before I changed them. As far as the seat, I have a Corbin that has been scooped out and is lower. I have put about 150,000 miles on this bike and just looking at some possible changes as part of my front end rebuild and was wondering if anyone had done this. Being inseam challenged can have its moments of frustration in those unsettling times when you are going over. RandyA -

That is what I was thinking. I was just getting ready to go out to the garage to check this out. I guess if I could remove the air collar and move it up that thickness, it would be as Marcarl stated. I don't think the tubes can be moved up much, or they will be hitting stuff above the tripple tree. RandyA -

I don't think an 06 would fit a 93. RandyA -
As part of my changeover to the MKII forks on 83, I am wanting to slide the forks up a little in the tripple tree. When I changed my springs to Progressives, even though I did not use any spacers on the springs, it raised the front of my bike up some. I will be transfering these springs and won't be using any air and wondering if any others had done this and what did they do about the holes where the air goes into the tube. I suspect the holes will be up under the clamped area, but feel they would still need some type of seal to keeping from leaking shock fluid. RandyA

What's in a name? (Tell us about your username)
Venturous Randy replied to pbjman's topic in Watering Hole
I started out as RandyA many years ago and at that time we ended up with several going by Randy and it got confusing. I was using Venturous on some other sites and noticed the name Venturous on here had not been used in a long time. I asked Freebird about changing and since the name was no longer being used and the membership had expired, he agreed to the change. Then, some guy showed up as ~Venturous~ stating HE was the original Venturous. So, we are back in that confusion state again. So, after some thought, I went for Venturous Randy. I did get to spend some time with Gary Mace, the original Venturous, at the Asheville Rally and was so impressed with the Time Out camper that he had that I bought one also. He also only lives about an hour from me. RandyA -
The thing about similar threads is someone will pull up a seven year old thread and take off with it again and here we go. RandyA
