Front lower fairing
Venturous Randy replied to Brenner's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I put lights in my intake vents years ago and it has worked fine. I was afraid it would be too hot, but it hasn't been. I have bikini side panels and no lowers, so the vents do not matter. I used the $18 lights from Walmart and they do make a difference. I also like how much it adds light to where I put my feet down at night. RandyA RandyA -

Recently picked up a Senior Pass for parks and stuff and was wondering if others on here have one and how much they have used it. I know that it is generally for federal parks, but do some state parks honor it? What has been your experiences with it? Sitting here at about 15 degrees, I have to think about warmer weather or I will go crazy...er. RandyA

Rear End Questions:
Venturous Randy replied to videoarizona's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
My 83 does not have any washers on the post sticking out of the swing arm. I would think that might put the bracket in a bind. RandyA -
Speedometer cable routing
Venturous Randy replied to frankd's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I found that if I put a plastic tie real tight around the cable housing, just below the nut, that it keeps it from falling too far when I undo the cable from the speedometer. RandyA -

As I sit here with it 7 degrees F outside, I enjoyed the green trees and obviously warm temps. I really enjoy your writings and hope you will take us all along with this great adventure. Keep it coming. RandyA -
Were your covers off a 83/85 MKI that you used on your 89? If you did, you would have had to modify the spacing on the holes on the caliper covers. RandyA

What tire are you running on the rear? To me, 40 psi to is a little low. RandyA -
I have been waiting to post a picture of the Miata that we got for Christmas, but the cable to my camera stopped working. I just realized today that I had a slot on the side of my computer to download the card so..... here are a couple of pictures. The first is as we bought it, totally unmolested and after some new to me tires and wheels. Got a couple of little things to fix, but the body has no rust and the top and interior is very good. I am going to put a trailer hitch on to pull the Time Out camper. RandyA

As a previous owner of a Dodge van with the 3.0 engine, I found that engine had a reputation as being a "disposable" engine. The next Caravan I bought had the 3.3 engine and was a much better engine. I suspect this is the engine the vans have that Freebird uses. If you go the Rockauto, they show a set of head bolts for that engine made/sold by Fel Pro for about $26. they range from about $23 to $47. a set for different suppliers. I have had real good success with Rock auto. You can check the ADDY I attached and see what comes up. I just checked with Advance Auto and their price was $37 for enough to do both heads. I think you better check your parts store again, or find another one. RandyA https://www.rockauto.com/catalog/x,carcode,1077599,parttype,5308

I live about a mile from Harbor Freight. I got a flyer today in the mail and when I get my Rider magazine, the first thing I look at is the HF ads. The magazine has the best deals of all. Neat observation Dingy. RandyA

How much does those cost? It looks like coil bind might happen with very much stroke. RandyA -
The shipper from Delaware talked to the post office lady in Sale Creek, TN and she found the package and marked out the bar code, so now I guess someone will have to look at the address. RandyA

They take a 10 1/2 inch spacer? RandyA -
According to the shipper, who went back to her post office, it appears the clerk there typed in 37304 rather than 37604, which is my zip. The package is back in Chattanooga as of this morning. There is a note on the tracking about it being a mis-shipment and you think someone would look at the actual address. It just dumbfounds me how that bike could have a 15.5K repair bill. But then again, I need the plastic piece that goes around the radio on the Miata I just bought and the dealer says it is worth almost $120, even though it only costs about $2 to make. Stay with up, you can always be used as a bad example. RandyA

I bought a very nice 03 I35 Infiniti that I knew had a blown head gasket and due to how long it had sat like that, I did not try to repair the engine. I bought an another 3.5 Maxima engine with lower mileage for $800 and had it delivered to my house for $50 and kept the old engine for another $50. I swapped it out and it is a pleasure to drive and have already put 20,000 miles on it. RandyA -

With Kelly Blue Book showing the Sebring is worth about $2,100 in good running condition, I surely would not put $4,800 in the car. As far as your last post, is this engine being cranked or running? RandyA
