  1. After I did the last post, my computer really slowed down. Before I turned it off, I did a Malwarebytes scan and several things popped up. Cleared them and turned it off. I started it up this morning and it is working very good all day and no pop ups. Randy
  2. Well, it has been almost two hours since I did the "Refresh Firefox" that puc suggested and have not had a single Avast pop up telling me that a "Threat has been detected". Still looking at the other suggestions. Thanks everyone for your comments. Randy
  3. OK, I just done the "Refresh Firefox" and we will see what that does. Thanks guys, I will keep messing with this and maybe I will learn something. Randy
  4. Hey, we took the little Miata over in NC and had a blast with the top down(tomorrow is Linda's birthday) I checked and the pop up box is already checked. My problem at this time is the Avast pop up that keeps telling me that a "Threat has Been Detected". I usually just check the X to make it go down. While I have been reading these posts and typing this, the Avast pop up has happened about eight times. I will try to do this and see what I get. Randy
  5. I am now using Firefox and that is a big improvement over Internet Explorer. I am using Windows 7 Premium. Randy
  6. There used to be a nice motel in Franklin where you parked your bike in front of your door and had nice chairs to set in out front. Last year we tried to make some reservations there and found out it had been torn down. Bummer. Randy
  7. I am so aggravated with my computer. I had Avast free version and got so tired of the box popping up telling me that it had detected something that I removed it(I thought) and installed Malwarebytes Premium that I paid for. In the last couple of days I started having major ads pop up from every angle, even to the point of having an ad with most every single post on VR, not one per thread, but on each post. I was able to copy some of the addresses and add them to the restricted list, but that did not help. I ran scans and that did not help. So, I went back to an earlier restore point and then I lost my Malwarebytes icon and had the free version of Avast back. Then with Avast back, it immediately identified the ad problem and removed it. Great. I then went back into Malwarebytes and reinstalled an updated version, but I am now again routinely getting these Avast popups alerting me that I can not turn off. I hate to uninstall Avast, but the warnings are really annoying. I appreciate any suggestions, but I have very minimal computer skills. Randy
  8. Interesting comment on the windshield. It is my understanding that the windshield frame on the Miata was designed to support one and a half times the weight of the car and this is without a rollbar. I find I do better to slide the seat back and when getting in I will sit down and then pull my feet in. That is easier than just sticking a leg in and then plopping down in the seat. I also find it better if I have one of those chair cushions that are sticky on one side and slick on the other to sit on. It is more comfortable and is easier to spin around getting in and out. Randy
  9. To me, the Miata has a lot of leg room, but you may have a problem getting in and out with the top up. I have had several Datsun/Nissan Z-cars. I bought a 72 240Z in 77 and in 79 put a 350 Chevy engine in it with a 350 Turbo trans. after about 50,000 miles I put a built 327 in it and put a total of 166,000 miles with a SBC. I then had a 79 280ZX that was the most comfortable and a 300ZX Turbo that was the least comfortable. I hooked the little Time out camper to it today and towed it a bit. It actually did pretty good. 10. Thanks. The thing about older Miatas is it is hard to find one that is not rusted or has not been molested by being slammed to the ground. This one is amazingly free of rust and when I replaced the shocks, I had no problems with any rusted bolts. For a 25 year old vehicle, that is pretty good. It is absolute amazing how it corners, but the problem is it is real low on power and being an automatic hurts even worse. I think with the auto that it is only rated at about 100 HP as they have slightly lower compression and less lift and duration on the cams. It only has a 1.6 liter engine. But, there are a lot of options on power plants and you can see some if you Google Monster Miata. Some over 600 HP. Randy
  11. This is amazing. Randy Driver survives his pickup truck's demolishing by two semis - CBS News
  12. Will have to talk to Linda about the stickers. Randy
  13. Not on the bike, but in the little Miata we just got. It was absolutely beautiful with views of at least 50 miles it was so clear. I took a couple of pictures, but did not realize I had a big greasy spot on the lens that I did not notice until I put them on the laptop. This was around the Little Switzerland area. We got off at 80 and went toward Burnsville as the road toward Mt Mitchell was closed. RandyA
  14. Wow, is about all I can say. I am enjoying this so much. RandyA
  15. Just so you know, you can correct the typo in the header by going to edit and then click on advanced and that will also give you access to the header. I know because I just corrected the header in a post I just made. Randy
  16. Say huh? Yep, my grandson Shane was called this morning from the Snap On Tool salesman to advise him that he was the winner of a Snap On Tool drawing that he had signed up for when he bought a couple of tools. It is really neat as from the outside, it looks like a large tool chest, but it opens from the top to be a deep freezer. Only the bottom doors open to where the compressor and plumbing is located. Randy Please disregard the camera markings as I probably should have used more pixals.
  17. I replaced my fuse block almost 19 years ago with blade type fuses and would never consider going back to the round fuses. They were discontinued for a reason. Randy
  18. I have put 150,000+ miles on my 83 with several different tires and to me the best handling is an Avon on the front and an E3 on the rear. My bike was one of those 1st gens that had the tail waggle at 70 mph and up with an Avon on the rear. That is the only problem I have ever had with Avons. Randy
  19. Forty six years ago tonight, I was spending my second night in San Antonio at Lackland AFB in basic training. I would have been asking what have I gotten myself into, but I didn't have time. About the fifth weekend I was there, we were granted a day pass so several of us went to the Alamo and yes, the River Walk was there then. I remember I was pretty homesick and even more so when I walked into the Alamo and on the wall was a picture of Davy Crockett's birthplace, which is about fifteen miles from my house. Yep, your great videos brought back some long ago memories. RandyA
  20. I live in NE Tennessee and we have room most of the time for overnighters. They can either stay in one of the bedrooms or they can camp in the yard or the woods. I have had several visitors from VR. Also, my balloon is right on my driveway. My number is in my profile. RandyA
  21. I changed over to Firefox about a month ago and my laptop is working much better. I was using Internet Explorer and I was constantly getting the box saying it had quit working. Since I changed to Firefox, all that went away. I also got rid of Norton and the Constant Guard that comes with Comcast. I downloaded Malwarebytes and it seems to be working good. Linda has a Dell laptop that is loaded up with junk and it will not let me download Malwarebytes, Firefox or will it let me take it back to out-of-box condition. When I try to download Firefox, it will go so far and then it starts a Security Scan and it will not go any farther even if you let go for 12 hours. RandyA
  22. Great news so far Puc. I'm hoping that by April you will be on the road CTFWing and would love to meet up with you somewhere. Linda and I are hoping that between the Miata and the Venture that we are going to be doing some traveling and camping in the Time Out camper this year. Keep up the good reports and am loving your travel logs. Randy
  23. Back to 1st gen mufflers. Can you put MKII mufflers on a MKI if you also use the MKII passenger footrests? Randy
  24. Hey Puc, any update yet? We are all on pins and needles. Randy
  25. Also, if you do not want it to show up, just click on the little arrow in the right corner and it will collapse. At least that is what I did. Randy
