If I remember correctly, you pull the clutch rod out and hook something in the inside of the seal and pop it out. I changed mine and I don't remember it being a big deal. Biggest problem is getting back to it. To put in a new one, you may be able to use the clutch rod as a guide and a deep well socket to knock it back in. Randy

Thanks for posting this. This is one of those videos that will cause you to spend a while progressing through the other similar videos that keep popping up. Even though I had seen this video before, it still gives me chills to watch it again. What is so amazing about this video is with it being in a airport setting, it is hard to believe how many people just ignored it, but it does appear that many were focused on the incoming passengers. Again, thanks for posting it, it made my morning. Randy

The text message: Hi Bob, This is Alan next door. I’m sorry buddy, but I have a confession to make to you. I've been riddled with guilt these past few months and have been trying to pluck up the courage to tell you to your face, but I am at least now telling in text as I can’t live with myself a moment longer without you knowing. The truth is, I have been sharing your wife, day and night when you're not around. In fact, probably more than you, particularly in the mornings after you've left for work. I haven’t been getting it at home recently, but that's no excuse I know. The temptation was just too much....I can no longer live with the guilt and I hope you will accept my sincerest apologies and forgive me. I promise that it won't happen again. Regards, Alan. The actions: Bob, feeling anguished and betrayed, immediately went into his bedroom, grabbed his gun, and without a word, shot his wife twice, killing her instantly. He returned to the lounge where he poured himself a stiff drink and sat down on the sofa. He took out his phone to respond to the neighbor's text and saw he had another message. The reply: Hi Bob, This is Alan next door again. Sorry about the slight typo on my last text, I expect you worked it out anyway, but as I’m sure you noticed, my predictive text changed ‘WiFi’ To ‘Wife’. Technology hey?!? Hope you saw the funny side of that. Regards, Alan.

The most I have ever been hurt on a motorcycle in my life was hitting a dog when I was about 15. I was doing about 40mph and had a dog run out in front of me from behind a hedgerow in a curve. I did not see him until he was there. He actually knocked the motorcycle out from under me. I was doubling another guy and we were both skinned all over. Yep, this one could have been a lot worse. Did anyone see what happened to the dog? Randy -

This should be moved to the 1st gen section. Randy -
Last year, I may have put 300 miles on my 83 and this is after I went to MKII forks and rotors, R6 calipers, SS brake lines and new head bearings. The problem is I am getting to the point that I am not as comfortable on the bike, even though on one ride through a very curvy road, I pushed to the max. WOT coming out of the curves and on the brakes very hard. I was riding with two friends and it was great and I felt exhilarated. The other factor is Linda is not comfortable getting on the bike(I don't blame her) and now that we have two Miatas, the bike just sits. Miatas are a wonderful transition for getting away from motorcycles and there are a lot of members on Miata.net that have done this as they have gotten older. I received my membership notice today and I did not hesitate to renew. This was more for the friends we have here than the bike, but I do try to help out when I can. It is a bit distressing to see so few members on line at times. even though we do have a lot of visitors. I sometimes feel like we are slowly winding down on this site and I don't want that. When I crank up the laptop, going to this site is always the first thing I do. Many times I have been disappointed at the lack of new threads and the lack of posts on the threads already there. We seem to have a lot of the old members that are still on the site, but never post anything. I hate to see that, but I guess it just happens. With some of the other sites, like the Miata site, there is no comparison with the family atmosphere we have here. We are special and Don has done a lot to preserve this atmosphere and we need to keep it. Randy

Did it fix your problem? Randy -
Man, I feel for you. I went thru a divorce 5 and a half years ago and she wanted to fight over everything. I did not even go to court for the divorce decree as my lawyer said I did not have to be there. I was standing on the beach in Okracoke, NC when she called and said "Well, it's over". I wanted to say a lot more, but I just said "well, good luck". I thought I never wanted another woman in my life, but that was not to be and I have been so happy and content since. Hang in there, it does get better. Randy

Has anyone had a bout with having terrible indigestion for a day or two? Linda and my son have had a terrible time today and I have been about half as bad. We don't think is is anything we have eaten as we all have not eaten the same thing. It usually lasts a couple of days and things like Alka Seltzer don't seem to help at all. Randy

One of the problems with slow starting is, as the starter is cranking and using so much of the available battery voltage, the ignition may be too weak to fire the plugs sufficiently. One of the things I did on my 83 years ago was to take the power wire that goes to the TCI and use it to trigger a relay bringing 12 volts from the battery. I suspect that on most of these old bikes, during cranking, you are not getting more than 8 or 9 volts to the TCI and this low voltage will still operate the relay. I found this after I moved the TCI to the top of the airbox and actually checked the voltage on the red wire when cranking. Another thing some people don't realize is if the bike has been sitting for awhile, the carbs need to be filled with fuel. I do this by turning on the ignition and using the kill switch to trigger the fuel pump by cycling it off and on. I do this until the fuel pump quits clicking. Another thing that I found is some of these bikes don't like any throttle while cranking. If it is cold, maybe some choke, but no throttle. I may also go to full choke and as it is cranking, I will slowly reduce the choke. Randy

Linda'a 18 year old granddaughter slid her car into a stopped car on wet payment getting the usual front end damage: hood, bumper, AC condenser radiator, etc. She only had liability insurance so the car got towed home. It is/was a very nice 06 Hyundia Senota and I am in the process of putting it back together. There appears to be no frame damage as it was a relative slow speed impact. My question actually pertains to the airbag sensor. The driver side airbag deployed and I can get another one off ebay for about $75. What I don't know about is whether the sensor is a one time thing and has to be replaced also. They are also on ebay for about $50, but I don't know if they have been in a airbag deployment. I don't want to have to buy a new one from a dealer. Anyone know anything about this? Randy

I have seen this several times where a car is advertised and noted with damage, like on the right side and of the six pictures, not a single one includes the right side. Randy

HOTEL....where do they FIND these people

I am 65 and have never drank a cup of coffee, even with 4 years in the military. Linda, on the other hand has to wake up to a cup of coffee. When we are staying in a motel, I will either go down to the lobby or go somewhere and get a breakfast biscuit and bring her back a cup of coffee. I don't remember her ever using the little coffee maker, but she may have. Randy -
On the sync, the reason you have low vacuum on #2 is because you started with the idle adjustment too high and ended up bringing the idle down by choking the other cylinders. #2's adjustment is the one you start with, then you adjust the others to it. At where you are at, what I would do is lower the idle on the wheel under the bracket. If you do it slightly you should be able to keep it running with less vacuum showing on #2, which will bring the gage up and then start adjusting the others again, as their throttle plates will be closed too much, causing their gage readings to be even higher.. If my memory serves me correctly, once you start getting the #2 better, you will have to go to #1 and move it until it brings the idle up some. Once you get #2 and #1 reading close, then work on the others. Randy

I kept waiting for this to be Skid's April Fools joke. Randy

My concern when I took those type roads, whether on the bike or Miata, is ending up at someone's property with several big dogs that do not like bikes or Miatas with the top down(not a lot of difference). Randy

I don't remember ever having much weight on my wheel/tires, but I do remember the weight is usually always in about the same spot and about the same. This tells me that the tires are probably better balanced than the wheel is. Randy

Well, I pulled the trigger and have spent the last two hours downloading. I have not turned off the laptop yet, so I will see how that works. Randy

My bike used to do that and I found I wasn't sitting in the center of the seat. Randy

Yep, I can sure vouch for that. I am still using the fuel pump you sent me and I still appreciate it. Randy
