  1. Are you talking about a 1st gen 1300 or a 2nd gen 1300? You pulled up a post that is almost eight years old. Randy
  2. Well, folks, we have about eleven weeks to our Asheville Rally. It has not been promoted any and I want to put the word out that if you want to come to a fun, laid back get together with TOO MANY good roads to ride and many great places to eat, think about joining us. We have a great place to camp at the Asheville East KOA campground and they have always been very good to us. We have our own area next to the pond in D section and it has always worked out real good. We also have some staying in the cabins and some staying in motels. I want to make a particular invite to any of our new members that may be able to come as this is a great way to put faces with names and get to know some of us old timers. If you have a tent and can stay a night or several nights, we can work you in. We usually have members arriving on Wednesday the 17th and run through Sunday the the 21th. If you have never been to Asheville, NC, it is a wonderful place to have a motorcycle rally and if you don't want to bring your bike, come on in your cage. We also have been known to do a little maintenance, such as carb syncs and other things and you will be seeing some folks that know a lot about these bikes. If you have any questions, throw them out and we will do our best to answer them. Randy
  3. OK puc, you look like you are going to be in pretty good shape to come to Asheville in August on your new scooter. As I have said before, you can be our main entertainment and we can put together a real good crowd. We always have a great time there. Randy
  4. Yep, that outta light up your world. Ya done good. Randy
  5. Been there, done that. It is repairable and with as much room as there is, you can also add some reinforcement to the tube, until you can find you another collector. Randy
  6. Yes, it is a small world. Several years ago Dennis and Vicki were going to be in the NE TN area to do some riding so they gave me a call to see if I may be able to ride with them. Due to short notice and work, I was unable to. The next morning they had ridden to Bristol, TN and then across 421 to Boone, NC on a great ride thru Shady Valley,TN. When they were coming in to Boone, there was an ambulance in the right lane, not on duty, turning into a shopping center on a four or five lane street. As it was turning in, a woman pulled out of the shopping center around the ambulance right into Dennis and Vicki's path. When I heard what happened, I was in Boone early the next morning and was able to help Dennis get his bike out of storage and visit with Vicki, who was still in the hospital. That ended their bike riding and they ended up getting into a Miata. Later that year we had Vogal and Dennis and Vicki were there. On a very hot ride, Dennis was leading in his car(not Miata) and there were about six bikes. As we were coming into a construction area, a pickup with a trailer was attempting to turn right and brought traffic to an almost complete stop. If my memory serves me correctly, it was Carbon One and his wife on a 2nd gen behind me that did not realize we were stopping so quick and when he hit the rear brake, the bike slid and highsided. All I saw in my mirror, was the bottom of the bike coming at me. I was able to get out of the way, but they got skinned up pretty good. Later on, I mentioned to Dennis that I was wanting to put a V-Max final drive in my 83 and he sent me one free and would not even let me pay postage. It is currently in the bike and works great with the 2nd gen transmission. And, with talking to them about the Miata, as I have slowed down riding the bike, I now have two Miatas. So, it is a small world, isn't it. Randy
  7. Well, $9.98 with free shipping and about 10 minutes and I now have a new keyboard. I could have never imagined how easy is was and watching the noted videos made all the difference. I kept thinking I did not have all the screws out because there was still pancake syrup keeping it stuck together. I cleaned it up and put it back together and it's just like new. I will say that with me going to Win 10 and having the On Screen Keyboard feature, it really helped. Thanks for the responses as this place is just great. Randy
  8. Call the mechanic and see what he will give you for your old mower. If he will buy it, use that for a down payment on a new one. Randy
  9. I was not real happy with going to Win 10 due to how awkward everything was to find. But, if I had not converted, I would not have the On Screen Keyboard to use after I screwed up my kb the other day. Randy
  10. I can use the screen keyboard that is triggered by the mouse pointer. Now my problem is I am getting some feedback from the reg kb like there are stuck keys and it will fill up a page like this '''''''''''''''''''''''''///////////////////]]]]]]]]]]]]] and I have a hard time getting it to stop. There does not feel like any keys are stuck. Thanks for video.//
  11. I have a Compaq CQ56. I just ordered a new keyboard off ebay for $10. I also need to replace the headphone jack while I am in it. How difficult will this be? I replaced the trans in my 83 with a 2nd gen trans so it can't be harder than that. Randy
  12. Done something real stupid. First of all, I spilled some pancake syrup on keyboard near the space bar and got some sticky keys. So, I got the bright idea that I would pour a little alcohol on the sticky keys. It freed up the keys, and then ALL the keys stopped working. I am currently typing this on my on screen keyboard, not touch screen, which I did not know existed. What is also making this real frustrating is I recently converted to Win 10 and everything is hard to find. I removed the battery for a few minutes and that did not help. Anyone got any suggestions? Randy
  13. All I can say is, "You were warned". Glad you got it off. Randy
  14. When I put Avons on my 83, I could not believe how much lighter the bike felt. It was like flicking around a sport bike. But, my delight soon changed when solo and I was running speeds above 70, as I got the tail waggle. But, it did not seem as bad when 2up. I adjusted tire pressures and anything else I could think of but no change. Since the back wore out first, I replaced it with an Elite 3 and immediately the tail waggle went away. When the front Avon was worn, I went with an Elite 3 and the bike felt stable, but not as sporty feeling. At the present time I am running a half worn Elite 3 on the back and a new Avon on the front and feel that is the best combo of all and have had others make the same comment. This was several years ago and at that time there were several of us, all of 1st genners, that had exactly the same problem. I hope by now that is no longer a problem. Randy
  15. When I put SS lines on my 83, I used a speed bleeder to move the fluid much faster. Now, mine almost catches too far out and are solid as a brick. Did you bleed at the goose neck? 83's do not have that bleed point. Randy
  16. How about "repeat" and you are already repeating yourself. Randy
  17. I don't text and drive, but with my phone, radios and GPS having bluetooth, I guess I better figure out to make it work. I came up beside a woman on two different occasions at the same intersection and both times she was sitting there texting. I was on the bike and I said something about texting and she put her phone down. The next time I yelled at her saying "Distracted driving is the number one killer of motorcyclists, so stop texting and driving" I hope I got the message across. Randy Randy
  18. Do you mean this: Born 8:05 PM 7 lbs 3oz 20 inches long They named her Raven Thea Atkins For less than one day old, she looked better than most newborns. Most are real wrinkled and some even lopsided. When I found out the mother was pregnant, I was really hoping for a boy as I already have two other great grand daughters and at this point my grandson is the end of the Atkins linage. So, I guess they will have to try again. Randy
  19. When I first saw this I thought you had started making a parts bike out of it and using the parts on tweeks. Randy
  20. I think I did that when I dozed off. I just saw it an fixed it. Randy
  21. Just watched a news release on NYPD having 70+ motorcycles crushed by a bull dozer after they were confiscated for drag racing, doing stunts on the highways, etc. Ouch. Randy
  22. This could be a sticker convertible as far as stickers. The neat thing about an early 1st gen is the trunk, side bags, tank cover and side panels can be converted from one bike to another in just a few minutes. Other than the front fairing and windshield, that makes up a big part of the bike. Then, if puc wants to take it back to that pristine condition, he can spend a couple minutes and convert it back. As far as moving the rear carrier for his trips, not sure about that. Hey, who says it has to be one way or the other? Randy
  23. I am going to attach a picture I took with my phone. This would be at one day old. Randy
  24. Wow, that is a beautiful bike. I hope to get a better look at it at Asheville. Randy
