My first Ad-venture is underway!!!

This weather front he was waiting out is in east Tennessee right now. RandyA -
Your 86 will fit on a 4X8 foot trailer nicely. That is what I hauled squidley's 86 on. You might want to go by the local motorcycle shop and check on their bullitin board, or even ask if they know someone that may lend or rent you one. It needs to be one that is at least rated at 1,000 pounds. RandyA

Hey, if you need me to take a look at the bike in Bristol, I am about 20 miles away. RandyA -
Ok fm, if you rode your bike and it was running poorly after sitting awhile, I bet that you need to clean out your pilot jets. Clogged up pilot jets will do a big number on how the bike runs. That would be either #40 or #42 in the picture. The holes are very small, but they can have a big impact. RandyA

Jardine exhaust
Venturous Randy replied to a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I have had a set of Jardines for about nine years on my 83 and they still look very good. They have gotten a little louder but to me they sound great. They kinda sound like a small block Chevy engine with glass packs under wide open throttle. I would recomend them highly unless you are looking for a quiet bike, then stay stock. I like my hot rod. Valve adjustments

Another point on these discs is many times you can move one that is a little tight to one that is a little loose. Just be real careful not to rotate the cam without a disc in it as the edge of the cam lobe can come in contact with the lip where the disc goes. It can score the cam lobe. I have found than one of these small magnets that go in your pocket works good to get the discs out. Make sure the disc and the area where the disc lays is completely clean. Anything, such as rag lint can make you think the clearances are too tight. RandyA -
First ad-Venture will be, 1000+ miles: advice?
Venturous Randy replied to FutureVentures's topic in Watering Hole
You can pick up Plexus or something similar at most cycle shops. Honda makes one that is similar, but I prefer Plexus. You just need to make sure you have a soft cotton cloth. If your cloth has something other than cotton, it will tend to leave a bit of haze on the windshild. Just remember, with Plexus, when you are wiping the windshield, you are also polishing it. Rain suit Flashlight Sun Glasses/clear glasses Gloves adjustable wrench visegrips flat tip/Phillips screwdriver The last three you probably can not take on a flight so you may want to stop by a Wally World. Good luck!! RandyA -
I have had Allstate for years on everything (bike 4 cars and house) I changed everything but the bike over to Farm Bureau. FB did not want to insure the Venture, but insured my son's crotch rocket. Until last year I was paying about $90 for a year with Allstate for libility and uninsured motorists. After Yammerdan's crash, I ended up raising my minimums a bunch to help in the underinsured part and now it is about $160 a year. RandyA

Side Stand?
Venturous Randy replied to DevilDog's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
It is amazing how much load these side stands will take, if you keep the bolt tight. If you let it get loose you will break it sooner or later. I make a habit to take my toe occassionally and see how much play I have in the stand. I like to tighten it to the point it is snug moving. I had mine break and it was not a fun ride. RandyA -
A little trick that helps is first of all, I used a three bolt puller. Once I put a considerable amount of "pull" on the puller and the flywheel did not come off, I used a real dull punch to hit the area just on the outside of the shaft on the inside of the flywheel. Give it a good smack as you are trying to do a slight deformity on the sleeve. One point to remember is you want something under the flywheel to catch it because it will pop off very quickly. RandyA

I don't want to start another "Whining about the weather" thread, but after a week of upper 70 degree days, we are looking at 60% chance of rain and cooler from my house to Cherokee. So, I guess I will probably stay around here. This is the 4th weekend in a row for rain and cooler. RandyA

I had a problem with mine because I let the bolt get loose. Let's use this thread as a reminder to check your side stand on your 1st gens, and probably 2nd gens. I have made this suggestion before because it is a PIA to try to manage it with only a center stand. RandyA

Anybody on here bidding on this left side console cover? The bid at the moment is up to $227.00. That's a little pricey for me. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=008&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=180233622609&rd=1 RandyA

Whats up with this gap?
Venturous Randy replied to GigaWhiskey's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Go to Wally world and buy a roll of Industrial strength Velcro. Put the correct pieces on each side where the pin is broken off and it will last for a long time and is no harder to get off than pulling off with the pins. RandyA -

For the last several weeks, we have had beautiful springtime weather, sunny with highs in the mid 70's, until the weekends comes around. We have another wet cool weekend with rain and guess what, next Monday thru Friday is expected to be sunny with temps back to the mid to upper 70's. This seems to be the third weekend in a row with rain. Ok, I am done whining about the weather, for now. RandyA
