running a little rough
Venturous Randy replied to PBJ's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
To give you an idea of how this engine should perform when running correctly; It should idle smooth and run smooth. It should pull easily and surprisingly strong in 5th gear from 30mph. It should pull strong at 1,000 rpm's over the redline. In 1st gear under wide open throttle, the front wheel should get real lite. Now, this is a baseline as some run better than this and some not as good, but they are very strong running engines and should run smooth. When cold, start the bike up and let run for 5 to 10 seconds and check each of the exhaust pipes to make sure you are running on all four. RandyA -

high beam indicator
Venturous Randy replied to Wizard765's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Mine did that for a while and I even replaced the reserve light unit. I finally just ran a jumper wire from the high beam wire at the headlight to the high beam indicator bulb. It works perfect now. RandyA -
Then you are probably way overdue statisticly. RandyA

I can attest to that. I was coasting down a hill thru town and I have no idea how I hit the kill switch, but evidently I did and when I went to give it some gas, nothing. But, I did have the presence of mind to look at the switch and when I flipped it. It is a wonder it did not blow both my mufflers off. RandyA

Ok, you shot a 46? And what was par? Was that for a round of Putt Putt, maybe (which for me would be good)? RandyA -
I was watching a upper right side fairing that was cracked along where the mirror goes and a few scratches on the side of it. It would need some serious work to look any good. It went for $182. I was watching the left side panel where the radio and speaker goes and it went for $226. Muffinman said he bought both sides new for about $138. My grandson broke the left handlebar on his Honda BBR 600. I was watching them and they usually went for $40 to $50. I ended up winning a bid for both sides at once and got them for $12.02. Go figure. Some times ebay gets crazy, but I still have been able to get a few good deals. RandyA

Ran across a guy on a Goldwing with a windshield wiper. I asked him if it scratched his windshield and he said it had a little bit, but not much. He said it worked pretty good. RandyA

It has always been my understanding that you should not exceed 50% of your bikes weight with what you are towing. I tow a Travel Lite camper that weighs about 370 pounds, but close to 450 pounds with all the stuff we put in it to go camping. I can really tell a big difference between the 370 pounds and the 450 pounds. You would be towing a 1,000 plus pounds with an 800 pound bike. RandyA

Actually, Pontiac really screwed up with the Fiero. They were determined to make a four cylinder, two seat commuter car and many people wanted more. By the time they got around to making the V-6 model in the GT version, they really had a neat car. But, by this time it had just about ruined the reputaion on the car. This was another one of those " We really don't care what you want, this is what you are going to get" deals. Now, a nice GT Fiero can go for a pretty high price. RandyA
